Questionable Choices: Kristen Stewarts British GQ Cover Is Odd

There’s something weird going on with Kristen Stewart‘s British GQ cover, and I think it’s that Kristen’s sporting a bedtime look in an outdoor setting. Kristen’s ensemble appears more sexy underthings than bikini, and it took me a couple glances to realize her hair’s supposed to be wet — to me, the connotation is “Boardwalk Empire theme party.”

GQ Isn’t Kristen’s only new cover; she also appears on this month’s Glamour. As Jezebel pointed out, Kristen’s vamped up for the men’s magazine and made to look friendly and accessible for her women’s mag shoot.

Surprise! Kristen looks miserable in both photos. You’ve got to wonder why the hell she does this stuff if it makes her so damn unhappy. Yeah, yeah… contracts, money, publicity, etc., but does it really help sell magazines to put an unsmiling, uncomfortable looking woman on the cover — no matter who she may be?

Hot Shot: Alexander Skarsgard Cleaned Up for BlackBook

Alexander Skarsgard landed the cover of BlackBook this month, and he’s looking mighty dapper in a tuxedo. The actor, who just wrapped a season of True Blood and will next appear in the Straw Dogs remake, discussed the violent roles he’s often tapped to play. People? We’re just like animals:

“Humans are animals. And like other animals we struggle between instinct and rationality. Of course I believe we’ve evolved, but I think it’d be naïve to claim we’re nothing like the rest of the animals with whom we share the planet. At the end of the day, we’re nothing but frappuccino-sipping savages.”

Last week the adaptation of Mildred Pierce was filming directly below our offices, allowing us glimpses of Kate Winslet in period garb. And today’s sunny afternoon in Madison Square Park, we happened upon a shoot for American Cheerleader‘s July/August edition. A nice sneak peak of a magazine cover to round out our week? Hilary Duff Covers January 2010 Issue of Nylon Magazine!

The lovely Hilary Duff covers the January 2010 issue of Nylon magazine and spoke to them a bit about her role as Olivia Burke on The CW’s hit show, Gossip Girl.

She said of taking on the role, “I was a little hesitant. It was kind of close to home… then I realized, I would never say something [that Olivia says] like, ‘Oh, this is just for the cameras.’ I think that’s what makes me so different from some of the other people my age.

Hil continues, “It seemed for a time there were people who hated each other – and I knew they hated each other – but they were in pictures together all the time, smiling and throwing their arms around each other. I was like, ‘You’re in the same business I am – how can you do that and feel okay? I so wouldn’t do that.’”

It’s great that she has enough self –respect to not completely sell out like some other celebs. She looks great, by the way! Check out a slideshow of her photo shoot below.

Hilary Duff Seventeen Magazine Videos

Hilary Duff will be featured in the October, 2009 edition of Seventeen Magazine. I don’t believe she will be on the cover, though she does have a feature in the magazine. Seventeen has released two videos – one a sneak peak of the Femme for DKNY Jeans line, which launched last week, and the other an interview about Blessings in a Backpack.

Hilary Duff describes her fashion sense as “simple with a twist”, and often she just wants to try something new. She says people on the street in New York are often an inspiration for her.

The second video looks at Hilary Duff’s charity work with Blessings in a Backpack, which Hilary is really proud to be a part of. What a success story!
