Then Paramount’s overseas department spoke up, flatly refusing to lowball the very patriotic superhero movie. They argued that Captain America himself is too strong a brand to be diluted into other countries and languages. (And anyway, even if the name were erased from the title, wouldn’t there be at least ten instances of characters addressing Chris Evans by his superhero title?)

So that means that even in places like France — with whom we had our own “freedom fries” debacle in 2003 — “Captain America” will be emblazoned over posters and movie theaters.

However, there are three countries where this flag just won’t fly: Russia and Ukraine, which were never introduced to the original Captain America comics during the Cold War; and South Korea for the usual reasons, though especially because of the American military’s position within the country’s affairs. (Even though the young population loved Iron Man 2!)

I feel the way I do about movie titles the same way about country names: There should be one universal name that everyone refers to. Unless, say, Sony had been able to keep Friends with Benefits‘ original title of Fuck Buddies, then you may have run into a problem with overseas marketing. There’s a difference between being a prude and being patriotic.

The first, Hunger Games Tesserae, invites you to send your personal info and find out who you are in this dystopian world. It’s the modern equivalent of Harry Potter‘s Sorting Hat: You’re put into one of twelve districts, each responsible for a different sort of agriculture or craft.

Are we the only ones getting a Colbert Report flashback?

Anyway. If you follow the hashtag #panemoctober on Twitter and Tumblr, you’ll find your fellow district members who are reporting what kinds of e-mails and text messages they’ve received from characters like Haymitch and Effie.

First, a quick history of Panem, the dystopian nation in the Hunger Games series. Author Suzanne Collins has said that it would take “triple digits” in terms of years for North America to become Panem, thanks to a global war that leaves the continent desolate. Panem rises out of the ashes of that devastation, with a shining Capitol and thirteen districts, each predisposed to a different form of agriculture or merchandising.

Seventy-four years before the first book, there was another war: The Dark Days, in which the districts rebelled against the Capitol. One by one, the Capitol beat down the insurrections, and completely obliterated District 13. That’s when the Hunger Games began, as a way to remind the districts of their limited power and the price of rebellion.

In the following slides you’ll find the rundown on each district (along with the affiliated Tumblr account). The second half of this process remains a mystery. Welcome to Panem features only a locked door and the enigmatic message “Capitol Access Required.” According to the countdown, around September 30 or October 1 the lock should open. What’s behind it is anyone’s guess.

It’s a genius move: Abrams’ demographic was playing Portal 2 since its release yesterday, so why not give them something to whet their appetites until June 10? In the full-length trailer that we’ve already seen, the film’s main characters are shooting a monster movie when a train derails and a mysterious creature fights its way out of an armored compartment. In the trailer, you are on that train and get to explore the increasingly-creepy cars before the collision we all know is coming. (Come to think of it’s, it’s a bit like Source Code.)

They describe Lindsay as a diva who re-discovers her “rock attitude and essence” in a space where glamour rules.

Wild and sexy at the same time, Lindsay Lohan shows, in this new campaign, that part of herself as a popstar, the lead singer who speaks the electrical language of decibel and whose charm glows under the stage spotlights.

An identity where the aggressiveness of rock is a natural complement to seduction: a dance on the tunes of a deep passion. All this under the ironic and funny direction of Fornarina that, as nobody else, knows how to create different nuances of style that are absolutely cutting-edge and how to interpret to the maximum degree the feminine sensibility of today by expressing a true rock-diva attitude.

I don’t know any details of the event, and Sephora doesn’t list it on their site, aside from the fact that Lindsay & Lorit Simon (co-creator of the product) will be at the launch at the Sephora Santa Monica store at 6:30pm (be way earlier!). I just heard about this event now, it wasn’t well publicized, so you may not be able to get into the party without an RSVP.

The new website features an “evolution of tanning”, and of Lindsay’s desire to perfect the tanning formula. The “how it began“ section outlines how Lindsay Lohan worked with airbrush tanner expert Lorit Simon to take the perfect airbrush tan and make it into a consumer product. The website also includes a section with Tips, as well as a how-to video.

Sevin Nyne is the first product to be released in Lindsay’s line of beauty products, all of which will be “dedicated to cherishing your skin.”
