A Lack Of Knowledge About Beyonce And Jay-Z’s Marriage Can Get You Stabbed

You may think you’re above knowing all the ins and outs of celebrities and their personal lives, but maybe it’s time to get informed before it costs you your life.

Last night Cleveland’s Fox8 News released a story about a man who stabbed another man simply because his victim didn’t know that Jay-Z and Beyonce are married.

This New Year’s Eve started as any New Year’s Eve in Ohio probably does–with Applebee’s and Michelobe (yes, I’m speculating this part). Then around 11pm things got crazy. It was at that time that 31-year-old Parm, Ohio resident Ronald Deaver allegedly stabbed a 48-year-old Garfield Heights man for not being up on his Beyonce and Jay-Z knowledge.

Although the victim was promptly taken to the hospital and is reportedly in “good” condition, what does this say about the safety of the rest of us? I may be able to tell you who Kris Humphries is, but I sure as hell can’t tell you the name of Kourtney’s Gordon Gekko wannabe husband without Googling. I also don’t know who the father of January Jone‘s baby is or who Ryan Gosling‘s first love was. This story makes me confirm that leaving my apartment is absolutely a dangerous idea and I should stay put at all costs.

Deaver, the protector of the Beyonce – Jay-Z union, was eventually arrested by police after his lady friend, Jennifer Fornari, tried to claim he no longer lived with her. Of course, this meant that Ms. Fornari, although clearly in on this attempt to rid the world of the ignorant, was also arrested for “obstructing justice.”

Takeaway? Know your celebrity facts, people, before you too run into a wild man with a penchant for taking down those not “in the know.” It’s as simple as that.

Last night, Conan O’Brien took his show on the road from LA to New York City for the purpose of officiating late night television’s first ever live, on the air, same sex wedding. The people getting married? Conan costume designer Scott Cronick and his partner David Gorshein.

Conan being Conan, he cracked a few jokes, but once they got down to business it was unexpectedly touching. These two men clearly love each other very much, and it was sweet to see how they adapted Jewish traditions to accommodate a same sex marriage. This lovely televised ceremony is just one more stake planted in the pop culture landscape in favor of equality and against outdated, wrongheaded, religion-based bigotry. Good job, CoCo!

A sadly believable rumor began circulating today that Kim Kardashian and her people basically set out to cast an NBA basketball player to date/romance/marry her on this past season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and the lumbering 6’9″ Kris Humphries wasn’t even her first choice. But…but…he proposed to her with a bunch of candles and rose petals. That must mean their love is real.

According to Wetpaint.com, a representative of the E! network first approached a different basketball star with their Faustian bargain of “you may date Kim Kardashian and touch her giant ass, but you must do so in the most humiliating way possible.” I guess he hates beautiful women and fame, because he reportedly turned it down:

A source tells Wetpaint Entertainment that last fall, a representative of E!, the network that airs the many Kardashian reality shows, approached the New York Knicks to find out if Danilo Gallinari, the studly Italian who was then a forward on the team, would be interested in dating Kim. According to our source, both E! and Kim were interested in having her date a big New York athlete for the debut season of Kourtney & Kim Take New York, and the Knicks were their first choice. (The show, which first aired in January 2011, begins its second season next month.) Gallinari — then 22 to Kim’s 30 — was told that such a move would be good for his career and that he would garner lots of media exposure. Gallinari declined, saying he would be happy to meet Kim but wasn’t interested in dating or being a reality-show star. E! had “no comment” when we called them.

Do you mean to tell me that Kim and Kris’ heartfelt courtship did not just happen to serendipitously collide with the filming of the last season of her TV show? And that she went shopping for him like one might shop for a designer handbag? Say it ain’t so! If this relationship isn’t real, I just don’t know what to believe in anymore.

Then again, from what little we know of her, Frances Bean (or as she’s currently calling herself on Facebook, Frodo Matthew Lillard) seems to have a wry sense of humor, so who knows? “Getting to spend the rest of my life loving my best friend makes me the luckiest woman in the world,” she wrote back in September. He also referred to her as his fiancé in a comment. It’s a testament to her ability to fly under the radar that nobody leaked screenshots to the press until now. The votes are in, and once again I’m not one of People’s 50 Most Beautiful People. Maybe next year, amirightladies? I’M KIDDING. But seriously, next year? No, but actually seriously, the people have voted and Consumerist has tallied the votes for this year’s Worst Ad in America. Now usually the only time I talk about Consumerist is when I’m referencing myself. As in I’m a consumerist of junk food. Really I’m more of a ravenous-ist but who’s counting? I’m not (if we’re talking about calories).

While it’s fun to hate, I say let’s give these ads some appreci-hate. The biggest takeaway I found in this year’s crop of worst ads is that committed relationships are terrible and will ruin your life. If you spend as much time wanting a husband as I do, it’s a devastating fact to confront at first. But then when I thought about it, what these ads were really saying is that being single is the best! That’s right, ladies, Big Advertising is sending us a message. We are all better off single.

Take, for example, the runner-up for Worst Ad in America.

Ladies, ladies, ladies. Who knew being married turned you into the worst person in the world? The Ad Boys on the AT&T account did, that’s who. My mama never told me the only place marriage got you was in a greenhouse filled with bitter regrets. She also never told me who my real father was. Either way, this commercial is scary enough to keep smart women out of long-term relationships. B+

In the category of Groups That Ought To Go Their Separate Ways, we have the Trojan Triphoria Bridal Shower Girls. Those Ad Boys on the Trojan account recognized the impending doom marriage spells for women. But they knew all women really want to get married and that’s all women want out of life, so they offered a solution:

Sex with the same man for the rest of your life? P-U! Hell, I’m just trying to have sex with the same man two nights in a row, but who’s counting? (I am. Unless we’re still talking about calories, then I’m not.)

But look at how happy that woman’s husband was to suddenly have all the pressure of having to pleasure his new wife lifted off his shoulders. In this man vs. the machine, man happily cedes victory. Wife gets triple the pleasure, man gets triple the football. My only real beef with this commercial is the fact that her friends’ blown-back hair clearly indicates they used the tri-phoria before giving it to her. Gross. Not realistic. But otherwise, A-

And the winner for Trend That Needs to Stop Being a Trend (drumroll please)… Men Barely Tolerating Their Wives. That’s right, girls. As soon as you commit to love and cherish them forever, men commit to hating you for all eternity. That’s what the Klondike Ad Boys are trying to tell you in this unfairly much-maligned ad. It’s a warning:

Even five seconds is too long for the supposed love of your life to bear the sound of your voice. While the mint chocolate chip Klondike bar is amazing—I had two already for breakfast—it’s a sad state of affairs when your husband can only be compelled to listen to you for the reward of one frozen treat. Presented to him by hot chicks.

Read the chocolate writing on the walls, womyn. Klondike thinks you’re better off alone. I for one say thank you, Klondike, for warning me before it was too late. And for making a damn good ice cream bar. A+

These ads may be some of the worst in America this year, but today I think we made the best of them. And at the end of the day that’s what advertising dollars are all about. But who’s counting? They are (I’m still not counting calories).

When I first heard Gene was getting married, my dumb brain thought I was hearing about Richard Simmons, and I was like, “What?! So much so that he’s been openly cheating on Shannon, with whom he he has two kids, for years. So maybe marrying Richard Simmons wouldn’t be such a bad idea after all. Gene Simmons Will Try His Best Not To Cheat On Shannon Tweed Once They’re Married

After dating her for 28 years and raising two kids with her, 62-year-old KISS bassist Gene Simmons has finally decided he’s ready for the commitment of marrying longtime girlfriend Shannon Tweed. But there’s one thing he’s still not quite sure he’s ready to give up.

“He doesn’t promise to be faithful to me,” his 54-year-old former Playboy Playmate fiancé told Entertainment Tonight last night. To which he replied, “I will do my best. We’re going to have to wait.” “I know you had some fantasy about an open marriage or something,” continued Shannon. “It’s not really going to come true.”

Excuse me, but what? One would think that after 28 years of being together, those two crazy kids would’ve figured out the ground rules of their relationship. Call me crazy, but if I wanted to be able to sex other people and my partner wanted to be monogamous, I would probably take a long, hard look at whether or not I wanted to be in a relationship with that person, married or not.

I commend Gene Simmons for being honest about his tendencies towards non-monogamy, but why would he want to be in a relationship with someone he knows he is constantly hurting? Furthermore, why would Shannon Tweed want to put up with him doing things she intensely dislikes? Maybe she’s bowing to societal pressures to pretend like she wants monogamy; after all, look at the gross way people jumped on her when Monique talked about her open-ish marriage. Or maybe she really doesn’t like it, but is putting up with it because she wants to be married to Gene Simmons more than she wants her husband to not cheat on her. In any case, I hope this marriage is not the kiss of death for their relationship, because I enjoy watching them on Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels.

One of the biggest gossip stories today is the assertion, made by multiple someones, that Ashton Kutcher has been cheating on Demi Moore with younger women and their marriage is on the rocks because of it. It wouldn’t be the first time someone has run with this story. But what if the reason Ashton keeps getting caught “cheating” is because they actually have an open marriage…and they just don’t want to talk about it to the press?

First, the story. According to RadarOnline, a 23-year-old woman is accusing Kutcher of cheating on Moore with her (ex?) friend after a “booze-fueled boys night out at a San Diego nightclub last Friday.” Immediately after accusing him, the lady “lawyered up with a top Hollywood attorney” and went into hiding. (Or was it the alleged “mistress” who lawyered up? The language is unclear.)

The story first broke via TheDirty, which published this insane email earlier today:

Nik, I’m going to be straight to the point. I’m a female who works at who happens to be friends with Sara Leal, probably not after this. I’m sick to my stomach over what happen last Friday night. Like most people on earth I worshiped Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore until Ashton Kutcher f*cked my friend Sara Leal at 4:30AM technically Saturday morning in his room on the 12 floor at the Hardrock Hotel in San Diego. Ashton Kutcher told Sara Leal that him and Demi Moore are separated and the public doesn’t know yet. Smooth line Ashton, she was going to f*ck you anyway. Nik if you want to verify any of this just call Sara Leal yourself or ask Deena Omari. Better yet subpoena Ashton’s bodyguard who took her phone before she came into the room.

Look at him, being all tech-savvy! But why would a gossip blog have the power to subpoena Ashton Kutcher’s body guard? Anyway, Sara Leal supposedly wants $250,000 to tell her story, so there’s a chance she is making it up for the scrilla.

This scoop comes right as Star Magazine prepares to go to press with a cover declaring the Moore-Kutcher marriage “officially over” due to all the cheating. And don’t forget a year ago, when some other woman named Brittney Jones claimed to have had “a fling” with the dreamy actor turned tech venture capitalist.

So what’s actually going on here? The way I see it, there are two options. 1. Women be lying, or 2. Their marriage is an open one, and they just don’t want to talk about it. (Or 3., Ashton is actually just cheating, but I don’t see Demi Moore putting up with that.) There’s such a huge stigma attached to open relatonships that I doubt they’d talk about it to the press, but for two open-minded, intensely bang-able people forced to be apart for long periods of time, it might make sense. That would explain why Ashton keeps getting accused of “cheating,” and why they appear to remain happily married nonetheless.

Of course, like I said, it could just be lies, all lies. I’m curious to see if Sara Leal’s story checks out in any way, shape, or form. Anyone got a spare $250,000?

It turns out Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries didn’t have a monopoly on August 20th weddings: country singer Chely Wright married her girlfriend Lauren Blitzer on Saturday.

Chely and Lauren, who are ten years apart in age, tied the knot at a Connecticut ceremony. This came a year after Chely came out publicly, in People Magazine. We’re super happy for the couple, despite being slightly disturbed by how similar the two women look.

Right? They’re basically blonde doppelgangers, especially in twin white wedding gowns. Well, we suppose this is just a sign of high self-esteem.
