Earlier this week, Mary-Kate Olsen went for an adventurer-inspired look while getting coffee with her boyfriend Nate Lowman. It was a bit daring and playful, especially with the hat, but MK pulled it off!

Here’s how you can get the look for less!

Mary-Kate’s base is pretty simple – standard cigarette jeans and a long black tunic. I like the BDG Ankle Cigarette Jean (right top, $58.00) and the Silence & Noise Cap Sleeve Tunic (left top, $19.99), both from Urban Outfitters. They’re simple, stylish basics that will work with anything and everything.

Every girl needs a pair of motorcycle boots in their wardrobe. If you’re on a budget, the Mia Women’s Liv High-Shaft Boot from Endless (left bottom, $48.97) is a great choice. As for the leather jacket, the Silence & Noise Cropped Moto Jacket from Urban Outfitters (middle bottom, $128.00) is a great choice.

This look wouldn’t be complete without the perfect head-topper. Forever 21 has a great fedora (middle top, $4.80) that is super cheap and looks great! Finish the look with a cute bag like the Oversized Guitar Strap Hobo from Charlotte Russe (right bottom, $19.99) and don’t forget the standard bauble of rings, like the Rhinestone Burst Filigree Ring from Forever 21 (middle middle, $3.80).

Make sure your boyfriend is wearing pink and purple tie-dye and you’re set!

Mary-Kate & Nate’s Coffee Date

Mary-Kate Olsen and her boyfriend Nate Lowman were spotted grabbing coffee on Thursday morning. Later that day, MK would be seen at LAX airport with her sister, Ashley. Mary-Kate and Nate seemed to be in a rush – I guess MK was trying to get to the airport! – and MK appeared a bit put off by the cameras.

Mary-Kate looked quirky and cute in her motorcycle boots, leather jacket and Indiana Jones-inspired hat! I recently bought this faux leather jacket because I’ve been liking MK’s leather look for a while! Admitting this makes me feel a little silly!

I wonder what Mary-Kate and Ashley are going to be up to in Los Angeles? Hopefully some press for the Row menswear line and Elizabeth & James’ Fall 2009 line!

Mary-Kate Olsen was casual chic in a printed maxi dress at the Tribeca Film Festival Awards last week. MK was a juror for this year’s film festival, serving on the panel for the Narrative Short category.

Forever 21 has lots of great maxi dresses that are perfect for this summer. I like the Scallop Printed Maxi Dress ($24.80). Pairing it with a leather jacket keeps the look from getting to girly. I’m loving the Silence & Noise Quilted Bomber jacket from Urban Outfitters ($128.00), as it’s sleek enough for an event like this. Finally, complete the look with this Saint Isabella Clutch ($58.00) from Endless.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen at the Women of Distinction Luncheon

Immediately after attending the Tribeca Film Festival Women Filmmakers Brunch on Thursday, Mary-Kate Olsen joined her sister Ashley Olsen for the 16th annual Women of Distinction Luncheon.

The luncheon, which was held at the Waldorf Astoria, honors women who have made a difference in film and television arts. They were founded in 1993 by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Other attendees included Eva Mendes, Jim Gold, Jason Wu, Zac Posen, Bradley Cooper and many more. MK rocked the same outfit she had on at the Tribeca Brunch (as she should, as this event was only hours later!) while Ashley looked polished and perfect in a loose black dress and immaculate hair.

I’m so glad to finally see Ashley at an event! She’s been working so hard lately and laying really low. Hollywood definitely isn’t her thing.

Mary-Kate Olsen looked fabulous at the Tribeca Film Festival Women’s Filmmaker Brunch earlier this week. She kept it simple but edgy with a leather jacket and hot pink mini.

To start the look off right, you need a great bomber leather jacket. I love this Silence & Noise Faux Leather Bomber from Urban Outiftters (left top, $138.00). Pair it with a hot pink mini like this BDG Brights Convertible Knit Skirt, also from UO (let bottom $38.00). I love Urban Outfitters, it’s one of my favorite stores and it feels like everything in it was inspired by MK’s style.

Don’t forget to wear something underneath! I like this simple H81 Scoop Neck Tank from Forever 21 (right top, $8.90). Pair it with these Women’s Slip In Super High Clog from Endless (left middle, $238.00). A cheaper shoe option are these Roper High Heels from Zappos ($84.00).

Carry around this Santi Isabella Clutch from Endless (right middle). It’s currently on sale for $43.94!

Mary-Kate Olsen at the Women’s Filmmaker Brunch

Mary-Kate Olsen was one of several celebrities and Tribeca Film Festival jurors who came out this afternoon for the Women’s Filmmaker Brunch. The event, which was held at City Hall in NYC, celebrated women in film and women filmmakers. Other attendees included Debra Messing, Julianna Margulies and Parker Posey.

MK looked great in her leather jacket, black booties and hot pink paneled skirt. I’m loving the bursts of color she’s been wearing recently. She chose purple for the Matthew Williamson for H&M launch party earlier this week. The simple no-fuss makeup and hair cap the look of perfectly.

I love that MK is a Tribeca Film Festival juror! She’s been out and about so much lately. I only wish I could say the same for Ashley. Ash has been laying really low in Los Angeles these past few days

Mary-Kate Olsen at Whatever Works Premiere

Mary-Kate Olsen stepped out last night at the Tribeca Film Festival for the documentary film Whatever Works, held at the Zeigfeld Theater. Mary-Kate is a judge for this year’s film festival, sitting on the panel for the Narrative Short category.

Whatever Works is a feature narrative directed by Woody Allen and starring Ed Begley Jr., Evan Rachel Wood and and Larry David. In the film, Larry David plays an upper-class New York who abandons his live of privilege to pursue a bohemian lifestyle. You can learn more about the film here.

Mary-Kate Olsen went for a casual, understated look at the Tribeca Film Festival cocktail party in Los Angeles on March 23rd, pairing a metallic trench with skinny jeans, her Stella McCartney mesh heels and a cute turquoise bag.

The festival runs from Novemver 10-14 2009. Tickets went on sale on March 16th. They’ve already announced the line-up, and it should be an interesting and exciting year at the festival. You can get all the information about the festival at their official website.

Blazer

Mary-Kate loves her Elizabeth & James boyfriend blazer. She also wore it to the Proenza Schouler fashion show that very same week.

You can get the exact match for for $395 from eluxury. Alternatively, you can grab a less expensive version for $59.50 from American Eagle.

Scarf

Like the blazer, MK’s black scarf is a repeat from the Proenza Schouler fashion show.

To match MK’s look, any large black scarf will do. I love this silk jersey and cashmere number that’s $39.50 from Martin & Osa.

Shoes

MK’s mesh heels are hard to match. She’s wearing the Stella McCartney mesh sandals, which are pretty pricey at $995.

Decent alternatives are the Joy Chen peep toe pump from Endless, available for $175.00. A cheaper option are the Mennie mesh heels from Jildor, which are only $73.50.

Peace Pin

Mary-Kate has a small black and white peace pin affixed to her right lapel.

You can get your own peace button for only $1.00 from Peace Buttons. MK is wearing the lapel pin version, which is available for $8.00.

Pants

Mary-Kate is wearing very skinny black pants. I like the skinny leatherette version from Urban Outfitters, available for $78.00.

Shirt

It’s difficult to tell exactly what sort of shirt Mary-Kate is wearing, but any oversized, long-sleeved black shirt will do. The bigger the better – the hem needs to drop below the hem of the jacket and you need to be able to scrunch up the sleeves to achieve the most MK-like effect.

Your best bet is to go with a men’s shirt. A collared shirt gives you more options (belt it for a shirtdress look another day). The shirt above is available for $78.00 from James Perse. I prefer the coziness of the thermal top, like this classic from Zappos ($73.00). The cheapest option? Steal something from the boyfriend, father or brother!

As for the jewelry, think lots of edgy gold and silver! Urban Outfitters and Forever 21 have lots of great, cheap, MK-like options!
