Brazilian Language Ad Bribes You With Megan Fox To Learn English

At first glance, this “Megan Fox Island” ad seems like a copy of those horrible Axe videos where the guy washes up on a desert island and women rip his clothes off because he smells so good. But this ad has a much more intellectual aim: It’s for Brazil’s language school CCAA, and the moral is, “Learn to speak English, in case you get marooned with a beautiful American star and want to win her over.”

See, this is the kind of stuff that Megan Fox should be doing; mocking herself and actually being funny in the process.

The second half of the moral is, “If you don’t, then you’ll end up being Mike Tyson‘s bitch on the island nearby.” Ironically, this video achieves the reverse of teaching Americans some Portuguese: I now know how to say something along the lines of “Look, it’s a shit-ton of Megan Foxes!”

Video: Friends With Kids Looks Like A Better Version Of Bridesmaids, Kind Of

The trailer for Friends With Kids came out today, and it looks like it has the potential to be every bit as good as you hoped Bridesmaids would be. It features a lot of the same beloved actors (Kristen Wiig, Jon Hamm, Maya Rudolph) plus some additional beloved actors (Adam Scott!!!) and it configures them in different ways, satisfying your urge to see Wiig and Hamm play opposite one another for real.

The film’s basic premise is this: two good friends (Adam Scott and Jennifer Westfeldt) both want to have a baby, but neither has anyone with whom to have said baby, so they have the baby with each other, platonically. Not exactly new territory for a movie, but I’m hoping the script and stars are strong enough to carry it off. Things get weird when they throw Megan Fox into the mix as Scott’s love interest–I’m so used to seeing her as a bionic Frankenbabe that it’s hard to accept her playing a normal person–but maybe the movie will use this to its advantage.

Friends With Kids was written and directed by Jennifer Westfeldt (Hamm’s real life girlfriend), who has proven herself in the past with films like Kissing Jessica Stein and Ira & Abby, so I’m hopeful. Although, to be honest, you could stick these stars in a dumb rom-com with Katherine Heigl and I’d probably still see it.

Sacha Baron Cohen’s The Dictator Trailer Shows Us Megan Fox But Not Anna Faris

Did you know that Megan Fox has a cameo in Sacha Baron Cohen‘s new comedy The Dictator? The first official trailer for the movie — where Sacha plays a Saddam Hussein-like leader — came out today, and what’s interesting is that we saw probably Megan’s only bit in the movie, but not his love interest, Anna Faris.

It should come as no surprise that The Dictator is rumored to be based on Zabibah and the King, a romance novel written by the late Hussein. Obviously it won’t follow the novel to the letter since Anna is not playing Zabibah, but it’s clear from the trailer that this is a spoof of totalitarian leaders.

We see the dictator (who so far has no name, according to IMDb) oblivious to the hatred that Americans feel for him, similar to Sacha’s other clueless characters Borat and Bruno. And then we get the scene with him and the Transformers 2 star, including a dig at the Kardashians:

It seems they went for the sexy/powerful angle this time around, showing the dictator riding through the streets of New York and paying for the companionship of starlets. We bet the next batch of trailers will have comedy more front-and-center, with Anna’s character probably prone to pratfalls.

5 Facts About Megan Fox’s Older Sister Kristi Branim-Fox

So Megan Fox, male fantasy incarnate, has an older sister. Back when we thought her name was Kristi Fox, we agreed that that was the ultimate stripper name. However, it would seem that the actress’ older sis goes by something more sensible-sounding: Kristi Branim (with or without the “Fox”; more on that below).

This is the best current photo we could find, from her Facebook; the original story that ran actually features Megan’s facialist Mindi Walters, who gets confused for Kristi a lot.

So, what do we know about this mysterious woman who’s only just started popping up in photos?

1. Kristi is 34, about a decade older than her famous sister.

2. She lives and works in the sisters’ hometown of Port Lucie, Florida. There’s a girl on Yahoo! Answers who claims that Kristi was the guidance counselor at St. Lucie West K-8 for some time and married the school’s coach. According to her Facebook, she currently works at Fort Pierce Central High School.

3. There’s been some confusion over her name; a couple of sites say that she’s known by the name Vivian Fox. Kristi must have an inkling that Megan’s fans are starting to learn who she is, because this past April she posted on her Facebook Wall, My full name is Kristi Michelle Branim-Fox, but I go by the name Kristi Fox.

4. Her experience as famous-by-association began in 2001 when Megan was 15, having just wrapped the Olsen twins direct-to-video feature Holiday in the Sun. The Palm Beach Post ran a profile on Megan, which included this photo of the then-blonde, mom Denise Tonachio, and Kristi (left) buying shoes at the local mall.

5. One of Kristi’s newest Facebook friends is The Hills star Lauren “Lo” Bosworth! What a world we live in.

Wherever you turn, Shia LaBeouf seems to be in some sort of trouble: In 2008, his car flipped over and he needed extensive hand surgery to repair his shattered pinky. Then, in the weeks before Transformers 3, he shot his mouth off saying that he and Megan Fox hooked up while she was engaged. Last week, he got into a street brawl with an unidentified guy in Vancouver.

The common factor in all of these is that Shia was probably asking for it. I’m sort of kidding, sort of not—we don’t have a ton of details, but TMZ says that “Shia originally got into it with the man inside a bar.” Then when they got kicked out by security, the man ripped off his shirt (why?) and started pummeling the actor on the sidewalk.

And for those of us who like a healthy dose of schadenfreude on our Tuesdays, there’s a video.

Shia definitely looks out of it here; whether he’s rattled by the fight or actually drunk is unclear. He keeps trying to go after the guy, but his friends hold him back, saying, “You gotta lay low right now.”

Megan Fox Weight Gain Story Spreads Misconceptions About Veganism

So there is a story going around the major celeb news sources that was probably planted there by Megan Fox‘s publicist to show how healthy, sane and low maintenance she is. The story goes like this: Megan Fox is vegan. Megan Fox gets scary skinny and simply cannot gain weight no matter how hard she tries. Megan Fox stops being vegan, gains a tiny bit of weight, is a hero of body image. The headlines read: “Megan Fox Ditches Vegan Diet For Curves,” “Megan Fox Shows Off Curves After Ditching Strict Vegan Diet,” etc.

Except the diet described in the article sounds less like veganism and more like, um, starving yourself. “For a year and a half, until about four months ago, I followed a strict vegan diet based on raw fruits and vegetables, no bread, sugar and coffee,” she told Amica Magazine (as excerpted by The Daily Mail). “But I had lost too much weight. So now I eat a bit of everything. And I train three times a week doing circuit training with my trainer Harley Pasternak.”

This does not sound like a “strict vegan diet” to me. What “a strict vegan diet” really means is “an actually vegan diet,” i.e. one that eschews all animal products. As a “strict vegan,” I eat a lot more than raw fruits and vegetables. In addition to fruits and veggies (which I sometimes cook), I eat beans, grains (including bread), nuts, legumes, tofu, seitan, soy products, and yes, even (vegan) sugar. I’m actually eating a chocolate chip cookie right now. For breakfast. Suck on that, Megan Fox.

What Megan Fox actually described to the press is a bullshit raw food diet. Bullshit raw food diets are primarily practiced by three groups of people: those who know they are bullshit but want to drop a few quick pounds for Fashion Week before they go back to eating people food; New Age-y “health nuts” who believe in an alternate reality of junk science; and people flirting with disordered eating. If she wanted to gain weight but stay vegan, she could’ve started eating healthy fats like nuts and avocados, drinking protein shakes, or heck, even having dessert once in a while. Not to mention bread. Bread is delicious, you should try it! Of course you are not going to be able to gain weight if you restrict yourself to a single food group. That’s just common sense.

But the word “vegan” gets way more pageviews and angry comments than the phrase “weirdly restrictive celebrity gauntness diet,” so they stuck it in the headlines anyway. And now she’s on some other snake oily sounding thing called The 5 Factor Diet. To which I say: whatever. Do whatever kooky diets you want, eat as many adorable animals as you want, but please do not make people associate your food weirdness with what is actually, for many, a very doable lifestyle. It’s totally possible to be both an animal-lover and a person who is not hangry all the time. I know this because I have achieved it. It’s time to stop perpetuating misconceptions.
