Remain Calm, Miley Cyrus Still Isn’t Going To College

Every so often someone starts a vicious rumor that Miley Cyrus is leaving the Hollywood scene to attend college. Yesterday’s rumored college of choice was the private Christian school, Chapman University. Upon hearing these horrible lies that tied the salvia-smoking entertainer to their institute of higher learning, Mary Platt, Chapman’s director of communications and media relations, s tated that the whole thing was an internet hoax and that Miley will not be attending the school.

Thank God Mary Platt spoke up before I sent Miley my recommended Bed, Bath and Beyond dorm shopping list. Because this time I almost believed the rumor. According to E!, Miley did just drop out of Adam Sandler‘s animated movie, Hotel Transylvania, and basically handed the role over to her Disney frenemy Selena Gomez. For a half stupid second I thought that maybe Miley was dropping out of that movie to pick up a few college credits.

Then I remembered that this is the same girl who sometimes forgets to wear a bra out in public and sometimes forgets to not let people record her ripping bong hits of “salvia .” The same girl who made her boyfriend a penis cake for his 21st birthday.

Miley’s destined for many great things. Duets with her father on TV Christmas specials, a divorce before she’s 30, a misspelled tattoo in a public place. But for now and probably forever, college is not one of them.

Miley Cyrus Tweets Awkward Family Photo

Last week, we got a kick out of seeing Miley Cyrus lick the penis cake at boyfriend Liam Hemsworth‘s birthday celebration. This week’s Miley-centric photo is equally awkward, but more G-rated: She tweeted this portrait of the Cyrus clan circa the early 1990s.

Awkward family photos. Look @billyraycyrus always giving face! she wrote, referencing her dad Billy Ray Cyrus‘ feathered hair and sexyface from the days when his single “Achy Breaky Heart” dominated the airwaves and no one knew the name Hannah Montana.

Miley herself was born in 1992 when “Achy Breaky Heart” was first released, so we’re assuming that she’s the smallest gal in this photo (on the right, near mom Tish). I can’t tell for sure, but I think that means the two boys on the left are her older half-brothers Christopher Cody and Trace; and the girl holding Miley is her older half-sister Brandi. Miley was the first child of Billy Ray and Tish, with younger siblings Braison and Noah being born over the next few years.

It’s sweet that Miley can reminisce on memories like this with her family. In late 2010, it seemed as if her parents were going to split up after 17 years of marriage, but about a year ago, in March 2011, they called off the divorce. It seems as if the Cyrus clan has been happy ever since.

Miley Cyrus Licks The Penis Cake At Liam Hemsworth’s Birthday

Nope, that’s not a euphemism: Miley Cyrus was having a grand ol’ time — aided by alcohol, no doubt — at boyfriend Liam Hemsworth‘s 22nd birthday, and TMZ got all the photos. It’s unclear who ordered this cake for Liam’s party at Club Icon in L.A., but it probably wasn’t Miley; TMZ says that Miley “jumped at the photo op,” fawning all over what looks to be a red velvet piece of genitalia.

There’s a whole gallery at the source, but this one of Miley plus giant knife is just begging to get meme-ified.

Although a later photo shows Liam glancing around uneasily at all the paparazzi, he did seem to be enjoying himself, as this photo of him and Miley smooching shows:

Miley Cyrus Got Her Boyfriend A Puppy For His Birthday…Was It A Good Idea?

Miley Cyrus broke a semi-major rule of dog ownership yesterday when she announced her birthday present to her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth: an adorable puppy named Ziggy. “Got Liam THE best bday pressie ever! Thank you for putting the cherry on top and making Liam’s bday a TT!” she tweeted, before revealing what/who the present was.

Animal advocacy organizations advise strongly against getting someone a dog as a surprise present, as you have no way of knowing whether that person is ready for and/or willing to take on such an intense, potentially ten-year-plus commitment. Let’s hope Miley and Liam had actually spoken about the potential of adding a dog to their little family unit and he was planning to get one anyway.

Additionally, she got the dog from a rescue, which is strange because most rescues require the dog’s primary owner to be the one who adopts it. Many rescues even go so far as to make you sign a contract saying that if you’re ever unable to care for the dog anymore, you’ll bring him or her back to be re-rescued and/or transferred to a proper new owner.

That said, there’s a chance Miley followed the rules. A small chance, but a chance nonetheless. Which is why I don’t feel bad about posting her puppy pictures now:

I feel like we’ve been hearing about Miley Cyrus‘ new movie LOL for a while now, but it’s crazy timing for the first trailer to actually hit. See, Miley’s character Lola — “all my friends call me LOL,” gag — is a rebellious teen lashing out by experimenting with drugs, failing classes, and asking her guy friend to have sex with her so she’ll get the whole virgin thing over with. It sounds a lot like the ex-Disney star trying to change her goody-goody image by coming out as a stoner and snapping semi-nude photos.

And then there’s Demi Moore as Lola’s oblivious mom… who’s dealing with a divorce from Lola’s dad. Considering Demi’s breakup with her younger husband Ashton Kutcher, you can’t get much more meta than that. (Unless there’s a subplot about Lola’s mom having to change her Twitter handle! Hey, for a movie about technology, there’s as good a chance as any.)

Ironically, there was supposed to be a scene where Lola smokes pot, but after Miley was caught smoking salvia, the producers were afraid that the scandal would have a negative impact on LOL. But because they couldn’t reshoot the scene, according to an insider, they’re using “tricky editing and effects magic, they are erasing all traces of her inhaling or being in the same shot with the actor.”

The movie also stars Ashley Greene as Lola’ pal and Austin Nichols as a hunky teacher; there’s no release date yet.

So Miley Cyrus‘ creepy-looking myspace-core brother Trace has a solo project called Ashland High, which according to its press release, “consist[s] of pop, dubstep, r&b and rock.” Because he wanted to “give back to his fans,” he released a new album for free on New Year’s Eve, alongside a music video for lead single “Jealous Lover.” Here are my reactions to said video, IN REAL TIME, with some additional thoughts from b5 editorial director Meghan Keane.

0:09: Sirens like something bad has happened. What was it?

0:15: Cop plays with iPhone.

0:24: Cop still playing with iPhone. If I wasn’t paying attention, would think this was an iPhone commercial I had to watch before the actual video starts. Are we to believe this iPhone was the sole survivor of a fatal car crash?

Meghan weighs in: It is awesome that the cop has picked up this phone from a crash and decides to check out this person’s videos. Isn’t that creepy? Me: I guess he is looking for clues?

0:32: Uncomfortable “sexy” shots of Trace dancing with girl. Feel bad saying this, but Trace Cyrus really should not smile.

Meghan: It’s cool that he’s dating Kat Dennings, even though he is disfigured by bad tattoos.

0:38: Spirit hood sighting!

0:48: Is he going to sing in that computer-y elf voice this whole time?

1:10: iPhone continues to figure heavily into the plot.

1:15: Emotional breakdown! This guy makes Good Charlotte look like Slayer.

Meghan: Aw, he brought her a cupcake.

1:48: Spirit hood continues to battle with iPhone over title of “most charismatic thing in this video.”

1:52: Don’t smoke pot and drive, kids.

1:58: And now they are drinking. Uh oh…

2:26: Meghan: Oh, Kat Dennings is pissed. But now she looks like a brunette Blake Lively.

2:48: She threw the iPhone off the roof! How will he post pictures of himself to Facebook now? THIS MEANS WAR.

3:00: I didn’t know it was possible for a song’s instrumentation to be this minimal and yet so annoying. Maybe half the tones are in that upper register only tweens and dogs can hear?

3:24: Is “playing to win” referring to his 2-player bro-down with spirit hood?

3:25: The iPhone came back! It really is immortal!

3:50: Unfortunately, our teen protagonists are not.

Meghan: That’s convenient that he was filming their final fight.

Meghan: Is this a Students Against Drunk Driving Commercial? Or does he die because he is singing while driving?

Me: Students Against Singing While Driving. SASWD.

Meghan: Does the driver that hit them hate this song? Because he totally randomly swerved into them.

Me: Maybe. Let’s check the ~~black box~~ iPhone!

The New Punk’d Looks More Immature And Less Funny Than The Old One

Judging from this preview, MTV‘s Punk’d should’ve stayed in 2007 with Ashton Kutcher‘s obnoxious trucker hats. It’s always going to be an early-aughts treasure, and trying to revive it in 2011 with new celebrity hosts only reminds us that you can’t capture lightning in a bottle twice.

But try they will: Now, instead of Ashton targeting his celebrity pals in each meticulously-planned prank, you have half-assed nonsense conducted by Justin Bieber, Kellan Lutz, and Dax Shepard depending on the week. Signs that your show is a shadow of its former self: When Miley Cyrus is the one plotting a trick on Khloe Kardashian.

In this clip (via ONTD), Miley and Kelly Osbourne (who’s also in on the prank) invite Khloe over for a girls’ night in, but their delivery guy… needs to use the bathroom… then gets his balls stuck in his zipper. Um, OK? This is a ninth-grade prank, and a pretty lame one at that.

Here’s what made the original “punks” funny:

1) They took place in public: At Justin Timberlake‘s home, on the set of The Rock‘s new movie, in a dressing room with Eliza Dushku.

2) If the punks were true, they’d actually affect the stars’ reputations.

3) The consequences were big and in turn inspired panicked, hysterical overreactions.

By contrast, this punk looks like it’s a minor inconvenience, something that the notoriously-TMI Khloe would tweet about with a laugh during. The only way that Khloe might be worried about this would be if part of the joke was the delivery guy threatening to tweet about her being a bitch or about hooking up with her, or something that would make her look bad to her fans.

Punk’d is set to return on March 19; rumor has it that Justin Bieber just pulled a prank on Taylor Swift on New Year’s Eve a few days ago. That’s another thing—Punk’d had its heyday right before Twitter became ubiquitous among celebrities. Can MTV really hold them to non-disclosure agreements when they could just tweet “OMG Biebs totally punk’d me!!” instead and ruin the surprise?

Holy moley — Miley Cyrus does her own laundry?! She’s a real girl after all! Miley and a couple of her pals hit the laundromat to wash their wares a few days ago, and they passed the time by staging an impromptu photo shoot. She tweeted out the photos along with the statement, “It may look like a Photoshopped, but we were legit doing laundry.”

Not only can I not believe that Miley does her own wash, but how crazy is it that her laundry day clothing is just like ours? Mom jeans and a faded old Beatles tee. Miley, you really are the voice of a generation.

Miley Cyrus Clarifies: She Doesn’t Curse At Fans, But Non-Fans Are Fair Game

Even though there’s video evidence of Miley Cyrus brushing off fans who want to take photos with her while on vacation in Costa Rica, the Disney star clarified on Twitter that she wasn’t an asshole to them… just to the other people in the video. Huh?

Miley tweeted:

Been trying not to tweet & just enjoy the holidays but just to clear something up I would NEVER swear to a fan. When someone yells something SO rude making ME look like an “a**hole” infront of fans who I am more than happy 2 take a picture w/ i cant tolerate that kind of rudeness

Every1 who was there apologized 4 the womans brusque behavior. She obviously wasnt a fan. Hope every1 has a Merry Christmas! LOVE 2 ALL!

OK, so it’s good that she wasn’t snapping at one of the adoring girls with the camera phones. Can you imagine how sad that would be to see a child’s hopes get crushed to learn that her idol is a jerk? So we’re glad that Miley wasn’t trying to bitch out the kids.

However, she’s still a role model for the girls trailing her even on vacation, so she should probably can the language even if it’s in response to an adult being a jerk. Maybe it was one of the mothers who was upset that Miley was so dismissive; it’s not clear.

Video: Miley Cyrus Brushes Off Fan Photo, Swears At Fans

Here’s a video from a local Costa Rica news station, who caught Disney star Miley Cyrus while she was vacationing there with boyfriend Liam Hemsworth (who plays Gale Hawthorne in The Hunger Games). From the looks of it, young fans with camera phones swarm her when she’s en route to her helicopter, and she brushes them off. It’s unclear if she was uncomfortable with them touching her — she lightly shoves one of them — or if she’s in a hurry, but she sounds pissed when she says, “I gotta go, honey.”

One of them must say something in English, because Miley turns around and snaps, “What the fuck? Are you for real? I’m on vacation.” She makes a point; we’re all days away from sweet vacation and would hate to have to work over the next week. But at the same time, as a celebrity you’re always “on”—and if that means posing for a few camera pics, it’s really not that difficult.

Update: Miley clarifies that she didn’t swear at her fans, just at some mean lady standing right next to her fans. Um, OK?
