Many hipsters are still mourning the “passing” of the free Jelly NYC Pool Parties at McCarren Park Pool in Williamsburg. The free concerts in the empty pool were some of the best parties in the previous summers, with artists like Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, The Breeders, and Spank Rock playing free shows there. CMJ starts next week and there is going to be a ton of stuff going on. You don’t need a badge to get into a lot of stuff, but you will need to buy tickets in advance for some. This is by no means a definitive list, but more a list of stuff I’m excited for!

Indie icons Mission of Burma will be performing two of their classic albums at the Bowery Ballroom in June. On June 14 they will play Signals, Calls, and Marches and on June 15 they will play Vs. MoB is amazing live; I saw them at Pitchfork Music Festival two years ago and even though I was seriously dehydrated and feeling very ill, they still managed to capture my attention.
