The film is based on an Ayelet Walman novel, ‘Love and Other Impossible Pursuits’, adapted by Don Roos for film, produced by Marc Platt. The film tells the story of Emilia Greenleaf (Natalie Portman), a woman who finds the key to salvaging her marriage in her relationship with her stepson, William. The whole thing comes about because Emilia and John (Scott Cohen) had an affair while John was still married to his first wife (Lisa Kudrow). Although the couple later did marry, they were shunned in the community. Together they had a baby, Isabel, who died of SIDS. Their marriage begins to fall apart, and Emilia has mixed feelings towards William.

So far, there’s no theatrical release scheduled for the film. Let’s hope it secures that soon!

The series will consist of 50 3-minute episodes produce in live-action with CGI elements. Krysten Ritter is slated, according to imdb, to be in 11 episodes of the series. Her character is named Cassie.

In Halloween II, Scout continues her role as Laurie Strode, originally portrayed in the 1978 film by Jamie Lee Curtis. Laurie is the primary female protagonist in many of the Halloween films. She’s Michael’s baby sitter, and the young Michael Myers (who later turns into the killer) is quite affectionate towards her. However, it turns out that Michael is actually Laurie’s real brother, after Laurie was adopted into another family following their mother’s suicide (due to Michael killing Laurie’s sister).

In this sequel, writer, director & producer Rob Zombie focuses on the psychological issues shared between Laurie and Michael. In the film, Michael returns to his home town, bringing death in his wake, in order to “take care of some unfinished family business… stopping at nothing to bring closure to the secrets of his twisted past.” Laurie is just slipping into her own insanity, so it should play out to be an interesting movie. Since her last appearance on Gilmore Girls, Scout has made many guest appearances on tv shows, with a transition to movie roles a couple of years ago. It started with the Halloween remake, where she plays Laurie Strode, followed by many other roles. On imdb, Scout has 5 more movies set to come out in 2009 and 2010!

Scout Taylor-Compton, who was born Desariee Starr Compton, is also working on her debut rock album.

Melissa McCarthy as Becky in “Pretty Ugly People”

Pretty Ugly People is about six estranged college friends who are brought together by a “dying” woman’s wish. In fact, Lucy (Missi Pyle) is not dying, she’s had gastric-bypass surgery and tricks her friends (including Melissa McCarthy’s character, Becky) to come on a trip to a retreat in Montana so the “thin” Lucy can finally feel a part of the group. In addition to this appearance, I have several other interviews to catch up on. First, here is an interview with Lauren Graham as featured by Newsweek:

Lauren talks about spirituality, about embracing her age, about all of Lauren’s various pursuits, about cooking (like her annual Flag cake from the Barefoot Contessa), and her nerves when meeting Jeff Daniels. Throughout the interview, we see many clips from The Answer Man.

Next is an interview with the NY Post which starts out with Lauren praising the work of director John Hindman and her hopes to work with him again… provided he doesn’t “someday leave [her] for Julia Roberts.” Lauren shares that she’s planning on taking a vacation to Florida after the press for The Answer Man completes.

“My first summer off in 10 years. I’ll visit my grandmother in Florida. Do family stuff. Then I’d like to get back to living in New York.

“I love New York. New Yorkers are so bold. They shout out, ‘Hey, Loralei.’ One said he’d seen reviews of this new movie. As I braced he said, ‘Don’t worry. They said it’s OK.’ ”

In The Answer Man, Arlen Faber (Jeff Daniels) is the reclusive author of “Me and God,” a book that become the new standard about spirituality for an entire generation. 20 years later, Arlen is still sought out as the man with the “answers”, though he has none (even for himself). Arlen’s life collides with Elizabeth (Lauren Graham), a single mom raising her seven year-old son, and Kris (Lou Taylor Pucci), a young man fresh out of rehab who is searching for meaning. Both Elizabeth and Kris are hopeful that Arlen has the answers, but of course we know that’s not true!
