Most of the time, kids are told that cartoons and comics aren’t real. Luckily, some adults still don’t heed that childhood warning. Two men, who are producers of How Hard Can It Be?, Ben Bowie and Ian White, were inspired by the animated movie Up. They were curious to see if, like in the movie, it would be possible to “fly” a house. They discovered that flying a regular house was nearly impossible, but it would be possible to fly a very lightweight house. The men set a world record for longest balloon cluster flight ever attempted. Check out the video below.

5 Perks Of ‘The Perks Of Being A Wallflower’ Adapation

There are a couple high-school experiences everyone remembers. Their first kiss. Prom (or not going to it). The time they blew up a car in a ditch…no wait, that only happened on Skins. But we all remember reading Stephen Chbosky‘s coming-of-age novel The Perks Of Being A Wallflower in high school and thinking “This is totally my life.” And while there is an argument to be made against turning every piece of nostalgia into a film, we totally think that the upcoming movie adaptation of this quintessentially pre-emo book will be beloved by hipsters as much as the source material was.

1. Good soundtrack: Perks of Being a Wallflower had multiple “mix tapes” scattered throughout that included our introduction to the Smith’s song “Sing me to sleep.” The movie won’t even need to create it’s own music…just go by the guidelines set forth by the novel.

2. Chbosky Doing The Adaptation: It’s hard to screw up the original book when the author is the one turning it into a screenplay.

3. Summit Entertainment Knows A Thing Or Two About Producing Teen Films: These are the same guys who did Twilight, remember, which was also a first-person narrative told in a diary-like format. Just like perks!

4. We Believe In Emma Watson: Post-Hermione, we’re expecting to see some real talent from the actress in the upcoming year, and as the ephemeral Sam, Watson is already creating huge buzz.

5. America Needs A Good Cry: After Toy Story 3 and Where The Wild Things Are were forced to take on the nation’s need to cry like a little baby while watching children’s stories, maybe this will be the year we finally start sniffling the dark tears of adolescent pain?

Despite casting troubles that were only resolved last week, the Edgar Allan Poe film, The Raven, has already begun filming. And here’s the first pics of John Cusack, looking totally the part of the brooding father of goth. Wonder if his character will have sex with his cousin, or if the writers plan to just omit that part of the author’s life story.

Crushable Commenter of the Week: Diego Argues That ‘Gay’ Can Be Funny

This week, Liana argued that the trailer for the upcoming Vince Vaughn film The Dilemma looked terrible and offensive: It was going for cheap laughs with homophobic humor. Vince even made a point, we found out, to keep this joke in the trailer, which is what…standing on some sort of principle? We don’t know.

But a surprisingly insightful comment did come from commenter Diego, who argued that keeping gay jokes entirely out of the cultural lexicon isn’t necessarily the solution.

You’re mixing up gay = funny with gay = something to make fun of. Gay as something to make fun of is just plain lame, no argument there. But gay as a funny works for the same reason any misunderstanding can be funny. There are a million sitcom plots where a character pretends to be gay or of the opposite gender, and they’re funny because of the disconnect between what the audience knows and what the characters on screen know. Just because the misunderstanding is about sexuality doesn’t mean the writer’s a homophobe. Don’t be so quick to pull that trigger.

While we get Diego’s point about the genre of mistaken identity being not gay-specific (hey, Shakespeare did it, and Oscar Wilde too!) and therefore not intentionally offensive, we still think that The Dilemna‘s insistence on separating “bad gay” from “good gay” doesn’t really apply to that situation.

No, not running over small children with her car: This actress has apparently decided to try out for the other team, and has been seen around New York tarted up in goth apparel, “draping herself” over female friends, according to our sources. She already displaying some stalker-y tendancies…texting and calling her new (and straight) object of affection, several times a night and asking for sleepovers.

Remember when Waking Life came out and for awhile everyone treated rotoscoping like it was going to be the next big thing since 3D? And then whoops, flash-forward almost a decade, and there’s been – what? – two movies done in rotoscope (but a bunch of terrible insurance commercials!), and 3D is making a comeback. But we have hope for Enter the Void, a film about a guy in Japan who dies and moves onto an after-life in some crazy, rave-colored Tokyo to watch over his sister. It’s not rotoscoping, but gives us that same feeling of “How did they do that?!” that’s alternately awe-inspiring and a little bit unnerving (we’re not going to call it ‘the next big thing’ either, till we know what it is. We’ll just say it looks a lot better than Tron: Legacy and leave it at that.

Though details of the movie are still scarce – mainly because it will be based on a memoir that Justin is still – we’ve scored an exclusive list of the top 10 super-secret features that will make the Justin Bieber movie better than any other film, ever.

1. With their special glasses on, audiences can experience a Bieber-obsessed Australian 10-year-old’s hand coming out of screen and trying to snatch hat off head.

2. Ticket price includes 3D glasses; link to Justin’s new “For the Fans‘” version of “Love Me” on YouTube.

3. Heat sensors located behind every chair activate whenever Justin blow dries his hair.
