OK Go Covers ‘The Muppet Show’ Theme Song for Muppets-Themed ‘Green Album’
OK Go has always been forthcoming with their love for the Muppets; you can find plenty of YouTube videos of the bandmates having a staring contest with Animal, or gleefully meeting Kermit the Frog. So we were psyched when we found out that not only are they part of The Green Album, a collection of covers of Muppets-related songs by artists like The Fray and Hayley Williams, but they also had the honor of performing the theme song. Video: Neko Case and My Morning Jacket Sing ‘Islands in the Stream’
At a show in Pittsburgh yesterday, Neko Case joined My Morning Jacket onstage for a performance of “Islands in the Stream,” which means that Neko Case and Jim James are our generation’s Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. It’s true: Neko even ends the performance by saying, “Thank you, Kenny.” More »
Monsters of Folk Played United Palace and Beacon Theatre
Monsters of Folk, the supergroup made up of M. Ward, Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes), and Jim James (My Morning Jacket), played two New York-area shows this weekend: Friday at United Palace and Sunday at the Beacon Theatre. I was lucky enough to go to the Friday show.

Monsters of Folk

Monsters of Folk is a folk supergroup comprised of Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James and singer/songwriter M.Ward. The group has a self-titled debut album coming out on September 22. A track from the album is available for free on their website and it’s called “Say Please.” To get it go to the site and type “please” into the request form.
