Crushable Questionnaire: Donora Lead Singer Casey Hanner
If you’re not familiar with Donora, chances are you will be soon. The Pittsburgh garage band is catching fire, and its catchy tunes like “I Think I Like You” and “The Chorus” are bound to cheer up any rainy day. Part of their cheerful vibe is singer Casey Hanner‘s bubbly voice and, after we asked her to fill out our Crushable Questionnaire we learned she’s not just an indie rock singer, she’s also an aspiring engineer (!). She also likes her pajamas and going to the zoo.
What’s your backstory?
Well, I grew up in a house full of music. My dad makes his living as a songwriter, musician, and producer. He had a studio in our basement growing up, which was right under my bedroom. So I can sleep through anything. I started playing guitar and writing songs when I was about 14. I went to college at the University of Delaware for civil engineering. And on my breaks, my brother and I started playing music together. We’ve been a band with our bass player for about 4 years now. I’m finishing up grad school right now in transportation engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. In fact I defend my thesis on Wednesday! More »

“What Goes Up” Soundtrack Now Available
It’s early! The soundtrack for Hilary Duff’s movie, What Goes Up, including her new single “Any Other Day,” are now available on iTunes!
The full soundtrack album, which includes 17 songs, is available for $9.99. The singles available, including “Any Other Day”, can be purchased for $0.99. The album will be released as a physical CD to stores during the week of May 4th.

Hilary Duff Records Single for “What Goes Up”
It’s just been announced that Hilary Duff has recorded an original song for her movie, What Goes Up (originally Safety Glass).
What Goes Up is the first film from executive producer James Hoke, who talks here about the challenges and rewards of making the film. James shares:

Hilary Duff returns to Studio
Hilary Duff is looking like she’s ready for winter as she heads to the Roundabout Sound Studio in Hollywood. Given that Hilary Duff revealed she’s heading back to the studio to work on her independent new record, I’m guessing this is perhaps the studio where she’ll be working in the coming weeks. I am so excited about this news!!
