This weekend, Nickelodeon unites its two major shows, iCarly and Victorious, in a 90-minute TV special called iParty with Victorious. In the crossover, Carly (Miranda Cosgrove) and Tori (Victoria Justice) discover that they’re dating the same guy; when Carly and her pals head down to L.A. to catch the cheating boyfriend in the act, the Hollywood Arts kids get to meet the stars of their favorite webshow. Oh, and Nick alum Kenan Thompson shows up playing himself.
Earlier this week, we chatted with Victorious star Liz Gillies, who plays mean girl Jade, about getting to know the iCarly cast better and whether the 17-year-old will get to attend a non-TV prom. More »
We’re nearing the end of prom season, but there’s at least one more TV show that took a stab at the most revered of high school events: Nickelodeon’s Victorious had an episode last weekend called “Prom Wrecker,” in which Tori’s (Victoria Justice) big dance threatened to upstage Jade’s (Liz Gillies) one-woman show. Let’s see if the whole episode made the grade.

When we interviewed Liz Gillies at the Victorious press junket, she mentioned that her show would be doing a crossover with Nickelodeon’s other big earner, iCarly, called iParty with Victorious: “It’s wild and fun, and there’s a really cool guest star.” With the special airing on June 11, Nick just released a behind-the-scenes video of stars Miranda Cosgrove and Victoria Justice, plus their respective casts, performing a mash-up of their theme songs. Yep, they take the idea of a TV crossover very seriously. Oh, and Kenan Thompson is gonna be on it. More »
After completing three months at a rehab facility to treat her cutting issues and eating disorder last year, Disney starlet Demi Lovato has announced that she is leaving her show, Sonny with a Chance. “I don’t think going back to Sonny would be healthy for my recovery,” she said in a recent interview. “Being in front of a camera would make me nervous.” More »
Last month, the TeenNick channel announced that they were going to re-air some classic ’90s Nick shows including Are You Afraid of the Dark and The Adventures of Pete and Pete. But that wasn’t enough for some hardcore ’90s Nick fans (like me!), who are also jonesing for other shows like Roundhouse and Salute Your Shorts. Good news, though – today, Nickelodeon announced that Hey Dude, the show that introduced the world to Christine Taylor and a girl named Brad, will finally come out on DVD on July 19. More »
Who here remembers their first Nicktoon? I know I do! Come take a trip down memory lane with me: The original unaired pilot for Rugrats has surfaced and is currently available for your viewing pleasure on YouTube. The animation looks a little less polished and there’s a different actress voicing Tommy, but Grampa’s glasses, Deedee and Stu’s hair, and Spike the dog’s lovably disgusting behavior are all still there, just as they should be. Hum along with the familiar theme song and check it out below: More »
Former Disney starlet Vanessa Hudgens seems to be taking on more mature roles with the upcoming Sucker Punch (out March 25), but it looks like the 22-year-old actress is back to acting out off-camera as well. You’ll remember that in 2007 and 2009, batches of nude photos featuring Baby V (underage when she took them) circulated on the Internet. Well, now MediaTakeOut has released new photos of Hudgens — again naked and vamping for the camera, but this time also making out with another young actress.
Rumor has it that Hudgen’s partner in crime is 18-year-old Alexa Nikolas, who played Jamie Lynn Spears‘ sweet friend Nicole in the first two seasons of the Nickelodeon show Zoey 101. She’s also appearing in the movie LOL with Miley Cyrus, who is no stranger to controversy caught on camera. More »
Actress and performer Elizabeth Gillies has certainly done her homework: Before her current starring role on Nickelodeon’s Victorious as mean girl Jadelyn West, she had a guest spot on a Nickelodeon show in the ’90s (6 to 8 Frozen Zone), and in 2008 she appeared in the Broadway musical 13 playing — you guessed it — a huge snob who also belts out hit songs.
Victorious, entering its second season, is a sitcom about Tori Vega (Victoria Justice) and her struggles to fit in at Hollywood Arts, a performing-arts school. (It’s also the brainchild of Dan Schneider, creator of iCarly, Kenan & Kel, The Amanda Show, and more.) In addition to the usual high school relationship woes, Tori and her friends — including frenemy Jade — find themselves having to write and perform original songs, and deal with filmmakers and divas. Crushable sat down with Gillies at the press junket for the new Victorious soundtrack and chatted about ’90s Nickelodeon shows, veganism, and Justin Bieber‘s recent troubles with fans in Liverpool. We got the chance to see a rough cut of the new Victorious music video for “Beggin’ On Your Knees” today, and it looks really fun. Victoria Justice, Avan Jogia, Daniella Monet, Elizabeth Gillies, and the rest of the cast run around at a carnival, but also get into a little mischief — set to a surprisingly catchy song. More »
If you grew up in the ’90s like I did, you are about to die of joy – the TeenNick channel is resurrecting some of its best programming, with classic episodes of Clarissa Explains It All, All That, The Adventures of Pete & Pete, and other popular shows. The new programming block, “The ’90s Are All That,” will air on the channel between midnight and 2 AM, perfect time for 20somethings with insomnia to catch up on their favorite nostalgia programs. However, my all-time favorite Nick show, Roundhouse, remains a ghost. More »
In Mel Brooks‘ Spaceballs, there’s a scene when Lone Star finally comes across Yogurt (the yoda parody played by Brooks himself) and asks him what the power of the universe is. “Merchandising!” Yogurt replies, and proceeds to show him all the toys and apparel that Spaceballs will be able to sell to children after the movie.
It’s a pretty meta-moment in typical Brooks’ style, but one that spoke to me even as a kid. Because obviously, I wanted every crappy piece of plastic that was stamped with the logo of my favorite films, TV shows, and Sega games.
But they weren’t all terrible. Here were some legitimately awesome movie and TV merchandise that I wish my parents’ had bought for me. More »
Dora the Explorer sues Nickelodeon – Caitlin Sanchez, the 14-year-old voice of the adventurous animated character has been forced off the show because of that pesky puberty thing. But she isn’t going out without a fight. Caitlin claims the network mistreated her and cheated her out of money. No word from that weird little monkey dude. (MSNBC)
I’m gonna say it: I miss being average. I know, I know, you guys would say, “Sweetie, you’re beautiful, and so smart!!” OK, scratch the smart part—we all know Annie has that covered. But I doubt even my parents could call me beautiful if they saw me melting into silver puddles and shooting lightning out of my fingers. I miss being normal. I mean, things only changed like…seven months ago.
Here’s some advice: Don’t piss off a truck driver. Especially when his name is Rusty Nail and he’s driving a tank filled with chemicals. I didn’t know! It said “Slusho!” on the side, I thought it was some new energy drink.

Perez Hilton, An Obvious Choice For Guest Spot on Nickelodeon’s Victorious – When you think about it, most of Nickelodeon’s demo is probably amused by things like bright, blue-haired cartoon characters and pictures of famous people with dicks in their mouth. (via TheFrisky)
We’ve all been to weird parties that will go down in permanent memory as legendary, and still talk about them to this day. Sometimes celebrities are involved, which makes the night even weirder. Here are some of our memories (and those of our friends):
“I went to Little Pete from Nickelodeon’s The Adventures Of Pete and Pete’s house. His name is Danny Tamberelli. He went to Hampshire College with a bunch of my friends. He was having a big party at… More »
Talk about triple threat: Like the stars of Glee, James Maslow can do it all — sing, dance and act. He stars on Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush, and performs in the boy band of the same name.
In a recent interview with Crushable, James was on a rare break from his hectic schedule of 12-hour days filming the Nick show and recording songs in the studio. Time off for James constitutes working out, surfing and barbequing with friends on the beach… More »
If you are unfamiliar with Hey Dude, featured on Nickelodeon from 1989-1991, there are two key facts you need to know: 1. Yippie ki yi yay is what the cowboys say and 2. If you are a teen, you can be given a prominent staff position at a dude ranch where there seem to be only two adult authority figures present.
That’s what happened to Brad, Melody, Ted and Danny. Spoiled Bradley (Brad) and sweet Melody were an accomplished equestrian and… More »
When The Biebs performed for shrieking tweens and media peeps at the Nickelodeon upfront event in New York, I was shocked to learn two things: The boy can hold his own live on stage, and can sort of dance too. He’s no Justin Timberlake, but give him time. Give him time.
But does he really resemble a cute lesbian? That’s for you to decide.
Associated Press music editor Nekesa Moody captured video of Bieber’s acoustic performance of “Your World Is My World,”… More »
