Nigel promises that his book will be unlike any other fashion and beauty book out there:

It’s a book that looks at beauty from a different perspective. It’s not a book that shows lots of photographs of models doing their thing, it’s a book about real girls, real people, models and celebrities but the focus is on inner beauty and how that affects your outer beauty.

Nigel also confirmed Andre Leon Talley’s participation in the show and is thrilled he’s signed on:

We’ve just signed up a new judge called André Leon Talley who is the American editor-at-large for Vogue magazine. Which is a big deal for us. To have someone as important as him in the fashion industry on board further cements our place in the fashion industry.

Nigel talks about how beautiful and inspirational New Zealand is, why they chose to film there, what he does in his down time and more. He promises that NZ will get a lot of screen time in the upcoming cycle and that the contestants were very excited to be traveling there:

They were screaming when they found out they were coming. Our contestants come from all walks of life. Some didn’t even have passports – they hadn’t travelled out of their state, let alone their country. Some live in urban parts of the US in hard environments. We have one who has a very difficult back-story, who comes from almost the streets, and all of a sudden she is waltzing around in fields of New Zealand where Lord of The Rings hobbits used to hang out.

Nigel argues that it’s ultimately about trust for any relationship:

Ultimately, if you don’t trust your partner, you can’t trust them to know what they’re doing. In my business, I’m always with beautiful women, I’m out traveling the world, and it’s a lot of time apart. If she didn’t trust me, she wouldn’t know that I loved her and believe it. That would sow the seeds of doubt, and that’s what destroys relationships ultimately.

He alludes to Paulina’s firing, but nothing explicit is asked about it. He does say the following:

There are definitely clashes of personality. I think it’s designed for that and it’s certainly not always amicable. But that said, I think at the end of the day, we are all professionals and we all deal with our emotions in different ways. We have had major clashes in the past where people have got very upset but it’s not that often. I try not to get involved. It’s all part and parcel of show business and the fashion industry. Certainly we have our fair share of divas on the show.

His take on NZNTM is nice to hear. He doesn’t say anything to surprising and it

Nigel has long been an advocate against the seal hunt that takes place every year in Canada’s northern communities. He’s attended events, given interviews, acted as a spokesperson and even held photography exhibit that explored the seal hunt as both a traditional and devastating practice.

“Look, instead of hunting these animals and treating them like worthless skins and killing them in such a brutal manner where you skin them alive 45 percent of the time — instead how about putting them on your flag?” Nigel asks. “How about celebrating these animals? How about being proud of it, using it as a sign of patriotism and sort of cherishing your wildlife as oppose to mindlessly and senselessly killing it? ”

Nigel will continue his green crusade when he speaks at the Go Green Expo in New York City on April 18th. He will be presenting his documentary about the seal hunt, the one that corresponds with his photography exhibit, titled A Sealed Fate. Nigel talked about the five things he can’t live without, his favorite song, how he originally became involved in Top Model, and what new and exciting things we can expect from this cycle.

Nigel’s answers may surprise you! He definitely comes across as a likable, romantic cheeseball. His life motto?

If you compare yourself with others you may become vain or bitter for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievement as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career however humble, it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

He recognizes the irony that is living by this motto and judging a modeling competition.

The Genesis Awards honor news and entertainment media and professionals for their efforts in promoting animal rights’ issues. Nigel is being honored for his photography exhibit, A Sealed Fate, which documented all aspects of the seal hunt. A Sealed Fate exhibit was on during July in New York City.

Nigel’s photos will be the highlight of the Genesis awards, with several of them decorating the awards ceremony and after party at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

“Nigel Barker was not satisfied with just lending his name and celebrity to the Humane Society of the United States’ ProtectSeals campaign,” senior vice-president of wildlife John Grandy said. “The exhibit of Barker’s photographs from the seal nursery exquisitely captures the beauty and innocence of being on the ice with these gentle animals. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to acknowledge him and his efforts at one of our elite events.”

A big congrats to Nigel. It’s nice to see that all his hard work is being recognized.

Nigel will also chat about his charity work and passion projects, including his most recent project, “Haiti: Hunger and Hope.”

It looks like it’s going to be a great episode. An audience member asks how one one should wait before engaging in sexual relations while in a relationship, and both Tyra and Nigel said it’s best to wait. For Nigel, it’s all about the chase!

“Back in the day I used to be a bit of a player myself. And, it was when I met my wife and she wouldn’t literally have anything to do with me,” Nigel revealed. “It took me four months to get a kiss on the cheek from her but I went for it and I went for it and I went for it. Anyway, she’s my wife.”

I hope Nigel has been enjoying the few slow winter months. Cycle 12 of America’s Next Top Model wrapped up filming before Christmas. Now, with the premiere on February 25, Nigel will have to pick up the pace as he starts promoting the show.

In Tyra’s red carpet interview, she chats about why ANTM has been so popular for so long. She sees the show as both inspirational and real, and that the stories of the contestants really draws people in. Tyra believes that girls need personality first in order to become a true top model. I think Tyra does understand that ANTM is a television show first and a modeling competition second and this is reflected in the answers she gives.
