Many hipsters are still mourning the “passing” of the free Jelly NYC Pool Parties at McCarren Park Pool in Williamsburg. The free concerts in the empty pool were some of the best parties in the previous summers, with artists like Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, The Breeders, and Spank Rock playing free shows there. So many venues host (mostly) free shows in the summertime, it’s hard to keep up. There’s McCarren Pool, Central Park, and Prospect Park. But then there’s also Castle Clinton in Battery Park, the Winter Garden at the World Financial Center, and the South Street Seaport.
