I just got this sad little story sent to me in my e-mail. It’s a post from a message board for survivors of marital infidelity called “Truth About Deception.” A gentleman calling himself “Tim O” is posting about how his wife had two days of hot sexing from NYC Prep’s PC Petersen (that’s him on the left in case you forgot what he looked like). Yeah, that guy we all thought was hella gay last summer. Here’s “Tim’s” story:

“… Turns out she had an affair. The person turns out was 19 at the time and PC from NY prep for those who follow reality TV. I live in New Hampshire but have friends in NYC and on a girl’s trip she met him and had a one night stand with him. While I was visiting a family member one weekend, she snuck off and did it again. It only happened those two times but I just heart broken. My wife and I are best friends have a great relationship and this is devasting. She thinks she got wrapped up in that lifestyle but keeps telling me how sorry she is and that is was a HUGE mistake…”

Juicy! I can’t help but think this is all some kind of viral campaign to start up PC’s acting career, though. “Tim” hasn’t been back to post about the affair some more or to read the advice people have left him. I feel like we’re about to hear about a new “project” PC is in. I’ll keep my eye out for more.

Anyway, one of the cast members, Camille Hughes, the one who really wanted to go to Harvard, just turned 18 and had a rocking birthday party, including strippers! That’s what every 18 year old wants. Check out the photos and weep that you were not born into money at Guest Of A Guest.

Apparently, the only co-star of hers to show up to the party was Taylor DeGiovanni, the public school girl. Looks like she’s still trying to social climb!

Camille Hughes

You’ll remember that Camille’s school, Nightingale-Bamford (the school that Gossip Girl is actually based on), sent out a mortified missive about Camille’s involvement in a plebeian reality show to their alumni and parent’s mailing list. Rumor is the school did not want her back (don’t they know no one watched this show and no one will remember?) and Camille’s parents took their money elsewhere. This probably means that Camille got bitten by the fame whore bug and now wants to parlay her involvement with the show into an “acting career.” At this rate, her first-choice college will be NYU, not even Ivy League! How utterly dreadful.

• Just like me, Top Chef Masters finalist and Frontera Grill chef Rick Bayless loves Gossip Girl! He even gives us an “xoxo.” He also calls the former Top Chef contestants who worked as his sous chefs on the last episode “scrappy.” [Root 4 Rick]
• Lisa Wu-Hartwell is now saying that she’s “downsized” from the home she just lost, contrary to what was posted on TMZ, which said she was in a 10-acre estate. She also wants everyone to know that it was not technically a foreclosure, but a  short sale. [People]

And what did she learn from this experience? She says, “I learned that there are sometimes nice bloggers, sometimes not. It was definitely an interesting experience. Some people said I am cross-eyed. I am obese. I look like a horse. You know, if you can’t think of something witty, then why are you even writing?.” Indeed, Jessie.

The completely unrealistic staged scenes of this show are what killed NYC Prep for me. All along, NYC Prep tried to show that these teens were just like mini-adults, sometimes forgetting that even though their over-educated, privileged asses sounded like grown-ups, they actually weren’t. They never really acted like kids and even though these were rich kids with access and money, teenagers everywhere are essentially the same. We rarely saw them sitting around at each other’s houses, doing nothing, or scheming to get alcohol, or lie to their parents or participating in any of the time-tested, drive your folks crazy rituals of adolescence. One of the best scenes of last night’s episode was when Jessie caught those kids smoking weed upstairs at her fashion show/Operation Smile; it was hilarious and rung so true. Who can’t remember a moment from their teens when they snuck away to do something they weren’t supposed to?

What really made this show unappealing was that besides Jessie and PC, none of these kids were real friends. PC & Jessie drove the show because they were the only ones with an authentic relationship. That was a huge mis-step because what matters most to teenagers? Their friends. This group of vaguely connected kids, in painfully staged situations (do you really think Sebastian cares about putting wells in Africa?) made the show nearly unwatchable.

Next time: less charity benefits, we get enough of that with Real Housewives. Private schools do frequently have community service requirements, why not show the kids doing that instead of these parties? More kids who know each other, or who have spent time off camera together. That is, if we get a next time. Ratings for this show were not so hot, so this may be the last we see or hear of this show.

The worst was Cole, previously the only likable person the show, bringing his ex-girlfriend to meet up with Taylor and P.C. There’s only one reason a guy introduces his old girlfriend to his new girlfriend and I know this show isn’t about to enter the arena of making porn, so the whole thing was suspect.

The only authentic part of the show was Jessie and Kat treating the sunglasses store like it was their living room and talking about having to save PC. Jessie made a comment about how her family has always saved him, and she was very right to be suspicisious of the fabulousity crowd he was running with in the last episode (what inspired the ‘guests of a guest don’t bring guests!” show down). Jessie is spot on — 30 year olds hanging with 18 year olds, no matter how “mature” they might be, is never really a good sign.
