Rumor Has It Radiohead Will Play At The Occupy Wall Street Protest In NYC Today

Rumor Has It Radiohead Will Play At The Occupy Wall Street Protest In NYC Today

There’s this protest going on in New York City’s Financial District called Occupy Wall Street. Ask anyone in the city, and you’ll hear different explanations for what people are actually protesting: banks, a culture of greed, corporations. They’ve been at it for nearly two weeks, and have inspired copycat protests in San Francisco and Washington, D.C. But there’s one thing that the original group has that the others don’t: Rumor has it that Radiohead will play a surprise concert downtown today at 4 p.m. More »

Ryan Gosling Is So Embarrassed That He Broke Up That Street Fight

You know who doesn’t think Ryan Gosling is a hero for stopping a guy from stealing a painting on the streets of New York? Ryan Gosling. The Ides of March star told MTV News that he thinks he stuck his nose where it didn’t belong. And you know what? It’s actually kind of refreshing to hear a celebrity admit that they’re not hot shit. Learning the Ins and Outs of Personal Finance Firsthand as an Unpaid Intern in NYC

Learning the Ins and Outs of Personal Finance Firsthand as an Unpaid Intern in NYC

This marks my seventh week living and interning in New York City. Not only have I learned a lot about the field I’m working in, but I’ve also gained a great deal of insight into the world of personal finance that no book or Suze Orman show could ever teach me. It’s definitely a difficult feat to be able to budget in New York as a wide-eyed intern living here for the first time. You want to experience as much as possible and live your time here to the fullest.

I was lucky enough to have support from my parents for my living situation and other personal needs, but that was in no way a green light to freely spend money. More »

‘The A-List’ Recap: Almost As Delicious As A Plate of Nachos

âThe A-Listâ Recap: Almost As Delicious As A Plate of Nachos

It’s hard to believe that a full 237 days have passed since I last had the privilege/punishment of opining on Logo’s all-original, all-gay, all-ridiculous reality-ish TV series The A List: New York. And not a day too soon, we learn that there’s a new girl in town who will be joining the original gay gang of 6 and a half (I still can’t bring myself to count TJ as a full-fledged cast member, despite this season’s marketing ploys that are trying oh-so-hard to convince me otherwise). Her name is Nyasha (yes, that’s really her name), and she comes armed with an array of Beyoncé-esque weaves and lots and lots of Lee Press On Nails. I thought for a moment that perhaps I was still watching the tail end of RuPaul’s Drag Race or screwed up my jam-packed TV-watching schedule altogether and accidentally stumbled upon a rerun of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Girl Crushable: Eternia

Girl Crushable: Eternia

When Canadian rapper Eternia (born Silk-Anne Semiramis Dawn Craig Kaya) came on the scene in 2005, she made it clear that her songs wouldn’t shy away from women’s issues and traumas. But she also has a playful side, taking her stage name from the mythical planet that He-Man defends in the ’80s cartoon. Those attitudes come together in her music — four full-length offerings — and a cheeky T-shirt she designed, which reads, My Favorite Rapper Wears A Skirt. More »

Fried Chicken, Watermelon, and Sweet Tea: Going Home Again

Fried Chicken, Watermelon, and Sweet Tea: Going Home Again

I’ve lived in New York for a little over a year now and the last time I went home was in May. I always look forward to visiting home because anyone who has visited Charleston knows that it’s a great town with something for everyone: beaches for the sun obsessed, history and sightseeing for the history buffs, and decent nightlife for the younger crowd.

Right now, I am reporting to you from Charleston, SC. Today being my younger brother Joe‘s 18th birthday, I was flown home to celebrate his big day in southern style. More »

Hilary Duff at “The Invention of Lying” Screening

Hilary Duff at "The Invention of Lying" Screening

Hilary Duff went out last night to a new event, a screening of The Invention of Lying held at the Tribeca Grand Hotel in NY as part of the New York Comedy Festival. The movie doesn’t star any of Hilary’s close friends, from what I can tell, so she must just think it’s a good movie to see!

Also a big round of applause for GLSEN for winning the MySpace Impact Award – if you recall, Hilary Duff worked with them… More »

Hilary Duff at Herve Lege Spring 2010 Show

Hilary Duff showed her continued support for Max Azria yesterday by attending the Hervé Léger by Max Azria Spring 2010 Collection show as part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.

If you recall, Hilary Duff hosted a Hervé Léger party earlier this year, so likely has a great relationship with the fashion house.

Hilary opted to go very slick for this event, with her hair back in a tight bun. What do you think of the look for her?… More »

It looks like the 1920s theme party was an elaborate scene to film! Hilary Duff was back in her flapper dress and hair for a second day of filming Gossip Girl yesterday at the Empire Hotel in New York. This time, we see her start off her day in cutoff jean shorts:

Hilary Duff the Flapper on “Gossip Girl” Set

Hilary Duff the Flapper on "Gossip Girl" Set

Hilary Duff returned to filming Gossip Girl yesterday in Chelsea, New York. She was dressed up in 1920s flapper style, first getting her hair styled, then later changing into a flapper dress. The style looks amazing on her, don’t you think?

By my rough estimate, this may be the 3rd episode that Hilary Duff has filmed for Gossip Girl, out of the 6 scheduled. I look forward to hearing more about how this scene fits in!!
