No, not a band called Side Projects. Tonight Deep Red will be playing at (le) Poisson Rouge which is made up of members from Hercules & Love Affair, including singer Nomi Ruiz, keyboardist Morgan Wiley, and bassist Andrew Raposo. “They combine minimal electro, dance, and R&B to create what sounds like a cross between Afrika Bambaataa, Kraftwork & Madonna.” Midnight Magic open the show and DJ Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem) will DJ after Deep Red. $10 tickets are still available…. According to the blog Grub Street, Studio B is for sale for $1 million and $22,000 per month in rent. The club has a had a lot of trouble, what with their Greenpoint neighbors noise complaints and their illegal rooftop building this summer. They have events listed on their calendar through the end of the year, and then one event in January: Lindstrom on the 29th. Wonder if that will get moved?

This is a pretty great combo. The B-52′s will be playing a show with James Murphy and Pat Mahoney’s (LCD Soundsystem/DFA) Special Disco Version (a show they’ve been doing at Santo’s Party House) and Hercules & Love Affair. Electronic masters Digitalism will be at Santo’s Party House for their only New York appearance this Sunday, September 14. $10 advance tickets are available now at Other Music, or here, or it’s $12 at the door. On Saturday I finally made out to P.S. 1 to check out their Warm Up party. Although the line was ridiculously long and it was insanely crowded, it was still a lot of fun.
The public farm exhibit (P.F. 1) in the courtyard is very cool, and the music by James Murphy and Pat Mahoney from DFA/ CD Soundsystem was awesome.
The exhibits inside the museum were part bizarre part interesting, but worth seeing. Plus, the apartment adjacent to the museum hosts… More »
