P.S. 1, an offshoot of the MoMA in Queens, is a great museum. If you haven’t been, this summer is the perfect time because they host weekly “Warm Up” parties with bands and DJs galore on Saturday afternoons from 2-9 pm. Last year saw the likes of James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, and this year we get Talibam! and Phenomenal Handclap Band, among many others. Here’s the full schedule:

Phenomenal Handclap Band for Free Tonight

Phenomenal Handclap Band, a supergroup of sorts made up of two NY DJs and members from various bands at different times, including Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, TV on the Radio, Calla, Mooney Suzuki, Oakley Hall, Antibalas, Mark Ronson’s band and Sí Se. I saw them at CMJ and they are pretty great, grooving on a funky 70s vibe. They just got signed to Friendly Fires and are playing a FREE show at Southpaw tonight.
