Emma Stone And Andrew Garfield Engage In World’s Least Offensive PDA

Rumored to be dating since the summer, The Amazing Spider-Man co-stars Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield publicly displayed their affection for one another while shopping at New York’s Chelsea Market yesterday afternoon. As if that weren’t cute enough already, People reports that they bought a tin full of cookies shaped like snowflakes and snowmen, because that’s the only thing you want to eat when you’re an adorable, redheaded Hollywood actress falling in love with your cute buddy from the movie set.

Here is a question I often ask of my cat: are they self aware enough to act this cute on purpose, because they know we’re watching? As with the cat, most signs point to yes.

Newly engaged couple Britney Spears and Jason Trawick celebrated Jason’s 40th birthday in Las Vegas over the weekend, which provided the paps a nice opportunity to take zoomed-in pictures of the crazy expensive engagement ring he recently gave her. Here is one such picture:

And because I know you want to take a closer look at it, here’s a close-up provided by the ring’s designer, Neil Lane:

According to an interview Lane did with People, “Jason didn’t want an over-the-top ring with a giant stone,” so he opted instead for a medium-sized (but still kind of giant) stone set in a platinum ring. That ring, in turn, is set with many small stones that make it look “like a mini-crown,” because “she is his princess.” Just your average pop princess with an average platinum and diamond engagement ring. Nothing over-the-top about that.

Richard Simmons is pretty well known for the wacky ways he tries to “energize” people to get off their asses and exercise. Lately, those methods include wearing brightly colored tutus. Here he is arriving at a Beverly Hills gym to teach a class yesterday afternoon.

Those pearls, that hair, those shorts, that pose..it’s like Marcel Marceau, Wilma Flintstone and a Chia head had a baby. Shine on, you crazy diamond. Shine on.

Ryan Gosling, of the Making-Dreams-Come-True Goslings, is apparently dating his The Place Behind The Pines co-star Eva Mendes. I guess I’m obligated to make some joke about how disappointed I am that he is not dating any/all of us here at Crushable, but our boyfriends would probably be sad if that happened, so perhaps it’s for the best.

The 30-year-old dreamboat recently romanced the sophisticated 37-year-old lady by taking her to a place where everyone feels like they’re 12 again: Disneyland. According to Us Weekly, the two kissed, hugged, held hands, skipped, rode all the rides, and fed each other cotton candy and churros. (Is Eva introducing him to exciting new Latin American snacks?) Basically, they did everything you did with Ryan Gosling in your dreams last night, minus the really weird part.

Congratulations, everyone! If you’re reading this, you did not die in the hurricane that swept much of the east coast this past weekend. While it proved to be a major snore-icane here in NYC, other parts of the country got absolutely hammered by Irene, who is such a moody bitch she must be on her period or something, amirite bros? The news media being what it is, a bunch of amazing images made it onto the Internet. Whether people were trying to survive or just being jackasses, each one of them made me go “whoa,” “heh,” “YOU, SIR, ARE AN IDIOT” or some mixture of the three.

I know we’ve said some unkind things about his music in the past, but at the end of the day, Adam Levine is a tasty bit of man candy, is he not? In a recent interview with Out Magazine, Levine said some things that actually made sense (“I’ve got the moves like Jagger” wasn’t one of them), in addition to many things that did not. Sure, we’d like him better if in addition to rock hard abs he had Adam Scott‘s personality, but the fun thing about celebrities you are never going to meet is you can look at pictures of them and make pretend they have whatever type of personality your spank bank requires. Maybe don’t read the quotes from the interview if you’re going to do this.

Brooke Hogan Gets Naked In A Cage For PeTA

Celebuspawn Brooke Hogan is the latest in a long line of celebrities (using the term loosely) to get naked for ostensibly animal rights related reasons. In a complete and utter parody of itself, PeTA put on a benefit art show un-ironically titled “Women In Cages,” featuring (you guessed it) photos of naked women in cages. They are nothing if not consistent.

Now, I don’t have any problem with women posing for sexy photos, but I will never understand why PeTA thinks said photos are going to make people care about animals. The types of people most likely to go vegan–liberal, hippie, compassionate, feminist types–are not generally the kinds of people who want to see photos of blonde, conventionally attractive women getting naked and pretending to be kitty cats. That sort of looks like a picture of the patriarchy to them. Conversely, the Maxim crowd to whom these photos appeal most are not about to give up their wings on game day. Not without a concrete offer of poontang, at least.

Then there’s the argument that these photos elicit compassion by saying, “well, you wouldn’t want to see this stuff done to a person, so why is it okay to do it to an animal?” But in order to show what actually happens to a factory farmed animal, they’d have to wipe that horny look off Brooke’s face and cover her in urine and feces, pump her full of antibiotics, infect her with some kind of sore causing skin disease, and rip her nose off with no anesthetic (if she’s pretending to be a chicken). Therefore, I call bullshit on this argument. And just because someone cares about humans, doesn’t necessarily mean they care about animals. Shouldn’t it be enough just to educate people about what the actual animals go through, and let them decide how they feel about it?

I’ve been a vegan for eight years and a vegetarian for fourteen, because hey, meat is murder. I often write about sex. I watch porn semi-regularly, and I’ve posed for naked pictures myself. If these photos don’t appeal to me, I’m not sure they have much hope with anyone. I will say, however, that I appreciate how they made her hand disappear into her shadowy vaginal area like that. What’s that hand doing down there? The ambiguity, it is classy.
