Poll: Do You Think TV Needs More Gay Characters?

Blake Lively has glorious breasts, no question. We’ve written about them in the context of her plunging V go-to style. We’ve objectified them. Girlcrush. Is that wrong?

When she came to Comic-Con to promote The Green Lantern, her outfit was not out of the ordinary for Blake: She knows what works for her – and what’ll get her photographed – and in Blake’s case, it’s her tanned and toned Amazonian body. Oh, who are we kidding? It her rack!!!!

The blogger Lainey Gossip attended the Green Lantern panel, and later ranted about Blake’s “one note” red-carpet style:

It was supposed to be the Comic-Con panel for The Green Lantern. Instead Blake Lively tried to make it about her breasts. Hard-ons aside, I mean, really, is it necessary? There were people who I interviewed in line waiting for hours, I mean hours, in the heat, they’d come from far and wide, and if they wanted to see cleave, they could have stayed at home with their laptops and jerked off.

Skin is not the point at Comic-Con. It is however the point when you’re Blake Lively. Because it’s almost as though she knows she can only play one note. And that note is always short, tight, super titty, and sounds like a mumble.

Did it come off hot and sexy? No. It came off as a joke. That SHE was the joke. Among journalists and other insiders, she turned into a joke. Next to Ryan Reynolds and Geoff Johns and the rest, she was dead air.

BURN, Lainey. And two words in defense of Blake: Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn, of course, used her sex appeal to help further her career, and become an icon in the process. God forbid a woman be overtly sexy. Our wardrobe consists mainly of Man Repellers – and we’d never wear what Blake wears – but shouldn’t a woman be allowed to express herself in high-class hookerwear when she wants to? Blake looks great, everyone knows it, and everything else is just – to use a blogger’s term regarding Olivia Munn-gate – “petty jealousy.”

We have to admit to being skeptical about shows like Intervention, but while watching it, it’s clear producers are sensitive to the challenges and pitfalls their subjects face. Can Abusers‘ producers tow the same line? We’ll have to wait and see. We’re not actually even sure we want to watch Abusers — it just seems like such a depressing topic (to be fair, we also don’t watch Hoarders for that very reason).

Surprise! In our Miley-focused poll yesterday, 50% of you found the singer’s MuchMusic garb so offensive, you deemed it “heinous.” Meanwhile, 26% selected “trashy but cute,” 15% picked “Derivative — from Xtina’s closet, circa 2002,” and the rest — 9% of you — thought Miley looked hot.

While the results were mixed, one thing is for certain: The 17-year-old former Disney Channel queen is heading down a sartorial road of raunch and there’s no turning back.

First though, let’s address what you thought about the “Eat Less” message: When we asked readers last week if they’d ever wear a shirt like that, 50 percent of you replied abso-friggin-lutely not (and that you didn’t need a skinny model telling you to eat less, thankyouverymuch). The other half of you guys were split down the middle: 25 percent said that they’d wear it because it’s not a personal insult to anyone, and the other 25 percent rolled their eyes at the entire concept at paying $26 for a tee shirt, so found the entire question irrelevant.

But back to my vision quest: After three stops at the major Urban Outfitters in the city, I’m convinced that we’re either dealing with a major cover-up about the existence of these shirts, or the salespeople at Urban Outfitters are too busy DJ-ing on their nights off to pay attention to their inventory. At every store I went to (East Village, NoHo, and 6th avenue), not only did the staff have no idea what shirt I was talking about, they looked slightly mortified that I was asking about a piece of clothing with that slogan on it.

“Eat less…what’s that supposed to mean? Is it for guys?” one confused model-esque employee asked, looking at me like most people look at people with giant swastikas on their forehead.

“Um, no … I wanted one because it’s been in the press a lot? And I heard you guys still have them? And they aren’t online anymore?” Yes, when I get nervous, every statement turns into a question. This process repeated itself two more times, almost verbatim (sometimes they’d direct me to the “graphic tee” section of the store, so I could go try to explain this to another horrified salesperson) before I gave up. If the inventory of “Eat Less” shirts did arrive to many of the New York stores, they never made it to the racks, or at least not long enough for their own staff to find out about it. Which, considering how so many people feel about it, is probably for the best.

Last week we asked Crushable readers whether they would ever hit on a guy wearing one of those so-called ironic t-shirts (which we guess are ironic the same way Alanis‘ song was…is the irony in that we’re calling something ironic when really they’re just a lot of bad puns worn almost exclusively by neckbeards that are trying too hard?). Well, you definitely had your opinions:

While 19 percent of you said you’d never, ever talk to a guy wearing a “funny” t-shirt – even if it had a picture of the Golden Girls on it! – the other 81 percent either liked it when guys dressed exclusively from Zazzle.com, or thought it was acceptable depending on the shirt (like “Stay Golden,” definitely. I really should have talked to that dude).

So guys! We want you to dig through your closet and find that slogan t-shirt you’ve been hiding forevs but can’t bear to throw out, and send us a pic! Winners totally get bragging rights, AND a limited edition Get Him To  The Greek t-shirt. Which you can wear ironically.
