The fact that a 24-year-old woman is taking birth control as preventative measure to avoid having a kid she’s not prepared for (among the myriad of other reasons birth control can be prescribed for) should not be scandalous in any way. Plus, you’ve gotta take those suckers at the same time every day, regardless of if that time occurs during an interview with a national magazine.

Or are people reacting to the fact that Amanda took an antidepressant? I do realize not everyone is as open as my family about mental illness and the corresponding drugs they’re treated with, but I would think that by 2010, people would at least have come to terms with the fact that depression and anxiety are true, clinical problems that occasionally need to be treated with drugs.

(I don’t even want to get into the whole over-prescription/misdiagnosis problem in America — which I believe does exist, see Corey Haim or Brittany Murphy for sad, recent examples — I am only referring to the responsible, legitimate usage of prescription drugs to treat real problems.)

When I read Amanda’s interview, the part where she took her pills didn’t even register as weird to me. It seemed so completely normal that I was taken by surprise when I read the Jezebel post. I have no problem with taking prescription drugs in public — I was recently stricken with a persistent case of strep throat, and had to take antibiotics with my meals three times a day for over a month. What was I going to do, head to the bathroom and swallow my pill? That would’ve made it seem so illicit.

Were you shocked that Amanda was so open about taking her prescription drugs in public? Is that something you would’ve done?

Despite Lindsay’s mom Dina Lohan’s critical interview with the New York Post, Michael Lohan said he will do what he has to do to help his daughter.

“As far as Lindsay is concerned, if she goes into a rehab, I will stop,” he told RadarOnline.com exclusively. “But if the lies continue and the prescription drug use doesn’t stop, neither will I.”

Michael Lohan said he started his battle to help Lindsay privately but was forced to go public “like Martin Sheen and others.”

“I wasn’t going to let people hear Dina’s drunken rants about Lindsay, and I certainly wasn’t going to let people hear anything about Lindsay, but now that Dina and Lindsay continue to lie and deny their problems, and even make up stories about me, NOW you will see and hear Lindsay’s calls and texts. I am NOT the liar, they are. Hopefully then, they will realize how deceptive and in denial they are and finally realize that lying and denial are part of their addictions,” Michael Lohan told RadarOnline. “I am sorry I had to take this route, but I have tried and tried to help Linds and I have been lied about long enough.”

Meanwhile, Lindsay’s recent Twitter rant about her father  makes it clear how she feels about him right now.

I know Lindsay fans just hope that her father isn’t right, though many fans think Michael Lohan  could approach the situation less publicly.

In reality, besides the recent Tweets directed at on-off girlfriend Samantha Ronson, we haven’t seen Lindsay out in public at all. Is she still in Paris?

Making matters worse, of course, is Lindsay’s father Michael Lohan stirring up rumors back at home. Last week he went to the tabloid media to say he thinks prescription drugs are killing Lindsay.

Now, Michael Lohan is saying he knows who Lindsay’s alleged drug dealer is. Oh, dear. Michael Lohan tells Radaronline.com that it’s a guy who follows Lindsay wherever she goes.

“This guy follows Lindsay all over the place. All over,” Michael Lohan told Radaronline.com. “Lindsay pays for him to go everywhere. He has no job. No job. He does nothing. All he does is supply everyone in LA.”

My question for Michael Lohan is: Do you have proof? Or are you just starting up more rumors?

Michael Lohan also doesn’t seem to thrilled with Dina Lohan’s response to his cries to the media last week.

“I feel reall bad that Dina would have to stoop to that level and say those things,” Michael Lohan told Radaronline.com. “I really think she is a beautiful person. If I was estranged from Lindsay, why is it that before she went away to Japan, when she was robbed, that she called me and I was the one who flew out there, who worked with the police, and who stayed with her?”

Now Star magazine is planning a cover  making it seem like Lindsay is at her lowest point. What do you think? Is Lindsay at a low point? Or is her father’s rumors making it seem so?
