When the photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the Superbowl came out, astute readers pointed out that she was dressed in a way that was reminiscent of her humanitarian trips, especially her dusty boots.
Well, her boots were dusty but it wasn’t new dust – only because she hadn’t gone anywhere yet! However, after leaving Miami, while Brad and Maddox jetted home it turns out that Angelina headed to the Dominican Republic to visit with Haitian refugees!

Hi PittWatch readers! I just wanted to let you know that the Blogathon 2009 is well underway. At this very moment I’ve been posting to my personal blog every half hour for three and a half hours. I have a fair amount of sponsorship so far, but if you’d like to help me raise funds for the UNHCR to help the same refugees that Angelina Jolie does, please consider sponsoring me while I do the Blogathon. … More »
Hot on the heels of the news that Angelina Jolie is in Iraq, CNN has a video up of Angie discussing the current refugee situation in that country and how this is the moment to really help them and make critical changes in a place that is so important to that region of the world and to the world overall.
I was intrigued by the way that she said she’s not sure she’s the best person to talk about this other… More »
Well. There certainly was a whole boat-load of confusion as to Angelina Jolie’s whereabouts after she was seen leaving LAX with Maddox the other day. Yesterday I wrote that Angelina was in Jordan to visit with Queen Noor and to attend a conference, however it seems that there was a big mix-up.
It may be possible that Angelina landed in Jordan on a layover and that could have sparked the confusion for many of us who mistakenly wrote about… More »
For the PittWatch readers who have been around here since this time in 2007, you’ll remember this.
As you all know, I’ve been writing here at PittWatch for awhile now. This isn’t my first foray into blogging though – I also write my own personal blog titled Chaos Theory. Over there I write about my own family life with a little of this and a little of that thrown in.
If you’ve followed blogs for awhile, you may have heard of… More »
Angelina Jolie has been very busy making the world aware of World Refugee Day (which is tomorrow, June 20th). This morning the Today show aired an interview that Ann Curry did with Angelina Jolie yesterday.
It was yet another wonderful interview bringing important facts about refugee to light. They even spoke of one of Angelina’s first UNHCR missions to Pakistan in 2001. She talked about how, as a mother, she wants to make sure she has enough snacks… More »
Last night, Anderson Cooper aired an exclusive interview with Angelina Jolie on his CNN show Anderson Cooper 360. Luckily for people who weren’t able to see it yesterday, I was able to find the segment on YouTube. I’ve often found CNN to be pretty generous with its news feeds so hopefully this won’t be removed from YouTube at any point in the near future.
Anderson starts off by saying how none of the segment went as planned -… More »
Angelina Jolie headed to the National Geographic Museum after arriving in Washington, D.C.
She took part in a World Refugee Day conference, then spoke to the audience, addressing the fact that leading world countries need to step up and help refugees to either obtain asylum during times of tragedy or to help them safely make their way back home.
I’m hoping to find video footage of her speech; I’ll put it up if and when I do.
(edit: we’re currently experiencing a problem… More »
As I mentioned earlier this morning, Angelina Jolie is in Washington, D.C. today for World Refugee Day events. She arrived via private jet this morning with Maddox and Pax.
Meanwhile, as for her plans to meet with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Hillary’s Chief of Staff issued the following statement:
“On the way to the White House late this afternoon, Secretary Clinton fell and suffered a right elbow fracture. She was treated at The George Washington University Hospital before heading… More »
Although Salt has wrapped, Angelina Jolie still has a few busy days ahead of her but it’s work that is so important to her that I’m sure she doesn’t mind.
Because of World Refugee Day coming up on June 20th, Angelina is making a few media appearances to talk about the importance of spreading awareness of the plight of refugees around the world.
There is a World Refugee Day event in Washington, DC today (June 18th). Angelina Jolie was supposed to… More »
With World Refugee Day 2009 just around the corner (this coming Saturday – June 20th), it’s excellent news to hear that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated $1 million to help refugees. The funds which came from their Jolie-Pitt Foundation will help refugees in Pakistan.
The head of the UN Agency said that the situation right now in Pakistan is “the most challenging humanitarian crisis of the past decade.” There are over two million displaced people… More »
It starts with a simple request with Angelina Jolie pleading, “Please don’t turn away”. With World Refugee Day coming up on June 20th, Angie recorded a new PSA for the UNHCR, reminding people that the plight of refugees is ongoing.
Angelina asks us not to forget them, the “most vulnerable people on Earth”. The UNHCR has been my personal charitable organization of choice for years now. On the 20th I’ll be thinking of refugees around the world and… More »
There’s some excellent video footage of Angelina Jolie in Thailand on her UNHCR trip available now!
Shot for the UNHCR, Angelina narrates parts of it, informing us of the refugee problem in Thailand right now, including some people who have been living in refugee camps for over twenty years, unable to leave and unable to return home. In between the narration we get to see Angelina sitting with people, talking to them and getting to know their… More »
The UNHCR website is reporting that Angelina Jolie is in Thailand for humanitarian purposes, this time to urge their government to support Myanmar (Burmese) refugees who are currently living in camps in the northern part of the country. She hopes that the Thai government will allow for more freedoms for the refugees:
“I was saddened to meet a 21-year-old woman who was born in a refugee camp, who has never even been out of the camp and is now… More »
Catherine sent me this last week – and I just uncovered it in my inbox – it is an older story (I think- I honestly haven’t had time to read it thoroughly yet), but is a beautiful account of Angelina’s work with the United Nations in Tanzania and elsewhere:

Thanks so much Catherine!

This just in from AlertNet.org:
There was an atmosphere of joy and jubilation in Largo refugee camp last week when 50 Liberian refugee women each received a sewing machine after successfully completing a sewing skills course, funded by UNHCR’s goodwill ambassador Angelina Jolie.
“Today, our dreams have come true and for this we are very grateful. When we came to the camp, we did not know anything. But, with the skills that we have learned, we now know how to sew both… More »
