Jonah Hill, Ben Stiller, Hank Azaria and Bill Hader opened the show with a little skit and it was pretty funny. I cracked up at Jonah’s impression of Randy Jackson. More than 88 million votes were cast to determine the Top 2 and I can’t believe we are at this point of the season already! Apparently, the person being sent home tonight lost by one million votes. That’s crazy! Alicia Keys came out to add to what Carrie… More »
The show started with a group performance of “School’s Out” which is one of my favorite songs to play on Guitar Hero: Legends of Rock. It was pretty cool to see the contestants rock out like that. Danny Gokey had me cracking up as he talked about how funny it was to watch his performance from last night. Judge Simon Cowell had said his last note sounded like something from a horror movie and Danny had to agree. … More »
The results show from Disco Week on American Idol got underway with a group number choreographed by judge, Paula Abdul. It felt like something from a dance show because they showed Paula training the contestants. When the performance was over, Paula was presented with a bouquet of flowers. It felt a little… strange (?) to me. What did you think of that? Lil Rounds was the first to be sent home tonight in a very quick elimination. Ryan asked… More »
The American Idol results show was tonight and it was fun to see the finalists at the premiere of 17 Again and then have the star, Zac Efron, in the audience. The guest performers were Jennifer Hudson and Miley Cyrus. Hudson sang “If This Isn’t Isn’t Love” and I thought she gave a good performance. Cyrus sang her new song “The Climb” and I really didn’t love it. Anoop Desai, Lil Rounds… More »
Tonight’s American Idol results show started with a song from Simon Cowell’s year of birth (1959). Old footage of Frankie Avalon singing his hit song “Venus” was shown but then Avalon walked out on stage. It was a fun moment. The Ford commercial this week featured Britney Spears’ single “Circus” and it was pretty good. I’ve found the commercials less entertaining this season so this was a bit of an improvement. Flo Rida sang “Right Round” and… More »
The American Idol contestants showed us a bit about their lives and things have changed since they’ve been on the show. They spend a lot of time doing interviews, photo shoots and walking the red carpet (wow, I feel so sorry for them – ha ha!). They also revealed that they have a private chef (Scott requested a triple chocolate cake!). Reigning Idol winner, David Cook, sang his song “Come Back to Me” and I was really happy… More »
During tonight’s results show, Alexis Grace, Allison Iraheta and Michael Sarver were in the bottom three. Allison was the first to be sent back to the couch. The judges revealed that they were considering saving one of them if it came to it. When it was announced that Michael was safe, Simon said that they would base their decision on how well Alexis sang “Jolene” for the second time. Unfortunately, the girl fell apart. It’s too bad because Simon actually… More »
The original American Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson, sang her new single “My Life Would Suck Without You” from her album All I Ever Wanted which was released yesterday. She wore all black which was pretty flattering but there was something missing in her eyes (in my opinion). It was great to have her back on the show but, sometimes during the performance, she didn’t look like she wanted to be there. It was… More »
It was an interesting episode tonight. We heard about the new rule, we saw this season’s first Ford commercial, performances by Kanye West and Kelly Clarkson and, of course, the two eliminations (pictures and video coming soon). The first bottom two consisted of Jasmine Murray and Megan Joy. Megan didn’t have to sweat too long because Ryan told her she was safe. Jasmine performed and Ryan told her she would be eliminated unless the judges chose to save her. … More »
See who the judges added to the Top 13 (yes, Top 13!!!) on American Idol tonight after the jump! Jasmine Murray, Megan Joy Corkrey and Matt Giraud have been added to the finalists. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! American Idol has announced a Top 13 will replace the Top 12 so that Anoop Desai could be added to the finalists! I’m so excited!!!! That means this is your Top 13: Jasmine Murray Megan… More »
Tonight, the contestants who were chosen as “wildcards” by the judges during last night’s American Idol results show performed so that the judges could pick the three hopefuls who would advance to the Top 12. Here’s a breakdown of the action (images and video coming soon): Jesse Langseth chose to sing Chaka Khan’s iconic classic “Tell Me Something Good” and I didn’t really like it. Randy said that it wasn’t great. Kara said that there were off-key notes but… More »
On American Idol tonight, we found out which contestants advanced to the finals. I can’t put my finger on it but this eighth season is just not as interesting as the others. Do you feel the same way? MJ from MJ’s Big Blog put up a post recently showing how the ratings continue to drop and I am not at all surprised. The first person named to the Top 12 from Group 3 is Lil Rounds! She did a… More »
What do you think? Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta have been added to the Top 12. They will join the three chosen from Group 1 – Alexis Grace, Michael Sarver and Danny Gokey. Were you happy with the results on tonight’s show? Were you expecting Nick Mitchell to make it? image © 2009 FOX BROADCASTING CR: Michael Becker / FOX… More »
Melinda Doolittle went home last night. I am beginning to wonder about some of the theories circulating out there. One of the most popular is that they want Jordin to win, so in order to do that, they had to remove the biggest threat – Melinda. I love Blake and that is not meant as an insult, nor is it a suggestion that Jordin is not talented, but I can kinda see the logic. This is a sad day. To… More »
Since it is latin week, I will stick with the theme and say “Hasta la vista, baby!”
Her Ho Patrol has obviously become the “No” Patrol. Haley Scarnato is going home. I think making the contestants sing after their elimination is cruel and in this case, I feel like I’ve been punished as well.
I must say that I agree with the bottom three. I think Jordin was a bit worse than Chris but Phil is getting on my last nerve. He… More »
It’s 11:50pm, the van’s unpacked and I’m sitting in my recliner ready to go. I just got back in from a little family vacation to various locations in Ohio, and am finally getting a chance to sit down and watch the results show for American Idol. Don’t you just love having a DVR?
The show is starting off and they’re going back through the highlights of last night’s show. Lot’s of good performances, and better performances for many. Sadly, someone has… More »
I wasn’t a fan of most of the performances last night and I thought Gina did okay, (not great, but okay) but there is NO WAY that I thought she should go home tonight!!!! This is the first real shocker of the season for me and my throat is tender from screaming. Haley stayed, so the Ho Patrol must be alive and well (and voting…yuck). I hope to see her again.

“The girls ripped it up and the guys through it down.” – Ryan Seacrest
Time for four more to go home. I’m really read for the narrowing down of contestants and getting to the point where we can see more of the ones that can really sing. Special guest and former idol tonight will be Kellie Pickler.
WOW! Over 32,000,000 votes came in this week. Here are my picks for tonight’s losers:
Guys:
Sanjaya Malakar
Brandon Rogers
Girls:
Alaina Alexander
Antonella Barba
The group song tonight is “Joy to… More »
Pretty funny, little video clip of the final three singing “Young At Heart”. They’re all dressed up as really old people in a retirement home. They’re killing time and showing some video footage from the three contestants returning to their hometowns. Rebecca Romjiin and Hugh Jackman visited them backstage and gave them a sneak peak DVD of the X-Men 3 to watch on their flights back home. How sweet would it be to get your hands on that DVD!
I won’t… More »
