Although the trailers still aren’t showing us who the villains are, this The Avengers trailer did show us Thor harnessing the power of Manhattan in the big battle, and Iron Man (a.k.a. Robert Downey, Jr.) being a BAMF by saying one word. More »

With Pretty Little Liars back on TV this week, we had to post this video of star Lucy Hale laughing over a kiss with Ian Harding that came out sexy, but was hilariously awkward to shoot. More »
For years, Marvel has been working toward this: Releasing superhero movies like Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America, and inserting Samuel L. Jackson into every one so that eventually all of the caped heroes could meet in this, Joss Whedon‘s The Avengers. The first full-length trailer came out today, and it does not disappoint. Plus, it’s so great to hear Joss’ great quips again. More »
We’re psyched for Joss Whedon‘s The Avengers, which brings together a bevy of superheroes who before this were all in their own movies: Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, etc. But to be honest, we were more excited by the candid on-set photos than this Entertainment Weekly cover. More »
Do you know the myth of Narcissus? It’s about a devastatingly pretty hunter who loves himself but disdains others for loving him. When he gets lured to a pond, he falls in love with his reflection and ends up drowning. More »

At San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel handed out these amazing concept posters for Joss Whedon‘s Avengers movie at their booth. Like a triptych, the seven posters — featuring Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), and five others — make up one big illustration of the Avengers. While there’s no sign of the movie’s big enemies, this is the clearest look we’ve had at the superheroes who’ve assembled under the always-badass Samuel L. Jackson and S.H.I.E.L.D. (the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division). More »
That doesn’t seem very patriotic of you, Robert Downey, Jr. I mean, what does gray and purple have to do with red, white, and blue? This is Captain America, not Captain France. More »
Incredible news: Cartoon Network is working with Transformers producers Don Murphy and Susan Montford to bring our generation’s favorite environmentally-conscious cartoon Captain Planet to the big-screen — in a live-action movie! This was one of those shows that you realize now was incredibly cheesy, especially because it was so educational; but when you were a little kid, summoning a superhero from five magic rings to save the environment seemed nothing short of badass.
A great thing about this live-action movie is how removed it will be from the series, which ran from 1990-1996. So even though stars like Meg Ryan, Whoopi Goldberg, and LeVar Burton voiced the characters, you can have a whole new crop of actors in this reboot. Here’s our dream cast. First off, the Planeteers and the people who make them great. More »
As creator Guil Ty writes in the introduction to the new Tumblr Actors with Action Figures, celebrities face the weird future of not only having their likenesses blown up to forty feet on a movie screen, but also shrunk down to (hopefully) accurate action figures if they play superheroes, animated characters, or action stars. I’ve chosen the cutest shots of celebs interacting with their tiny doppelgangers, though I realize at least half are cute guys. So, it’s like our “Hot Guys Holding Baby Animals” office calendar, but for the geek set, and with a few ladies and older guys thrown in. More »
Things I did not know about Johnny Depp:
1) His distinctive sense of style was developed through the careful perfection of the “reach into the closet and wear whatever you grab” technique.
2) He used to use the name “Mr. Stench” as an alias during hotel stays, mostly because he enjoyed hearing the hotel staff say “This is your 6 o’clock wake-up call, Mr. Stench.” (Bonus if it’s in a foreign accent.)
3) He fears dancing.
4) His kids think Iron Man is cooler than Jack Sparrow. More »
Today’s the first day of shooting The Avengers, Joss Whedon‘s superhero ensemble film that Iron Man and other Marvel movies of the past few years have been hinting at. It’s got an excellent cast, many reprising previous roles: Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, and Scarlett Johansson. In honor of the mammoth project officially getting off the ground, Whedon posted a tongue-in-cheek letter to fansite Whedonesque. More »
They say that blondes have more fun. Marilyn Monroe and Pam Anderson were both examples of blonde sex symbols. But what is the trick to having good glamorous blonde hair? Well..for one, you have to stay on top of your roots. (Have you ever seen Gwen Stefani with roots? I didn’t think so.) Here are some celebrities who should step away from the bleach.

Ricky Gervais really pissed people off last night at The Golden Globes. Luckily for them, a lot of people were already wearing red. It’s not quite Christmas yet, but you’re gearing up to haul all your stuff back to your parents for a month. Winter break: kind of a bitch, right? Your high school friends are kind of depressing to be around, since they haven’t seem to done much while you’ve been a way. Your family is awkward, and your room was been converted into a computer den. Don’t worry, you’re in good company. Plenty of movie scenarios revolve around homecomings that aren’t quite homey. Here are a couple of our favorites. More »
