This week, we’ve seen all manner of celebrities in Halloween costumes of their choosing. That’s all well and good, but what if they wore costumes of our choosing? That would be more fun, wouldn’t it? In an effort to visualize what that would look like, I’ve asked our resident graphics whiz Emma Charlton to Photoshop celebs into the costumes I would have them wear, were it up to me. From Kim Kardashian to Ryan Gosling, each celebrity gets the costume he or she deserves.

This is a video of Oprah Winfrey teaching Rosie O’Donnell to take tequila shots. Because, apparently, Oprah Winfrey is very into this, like a sorority girl on spring break. The first time she saw Oprah taking a tequila shot, Rosie felt it was, “a little like seeing Julie Andrews shoot heroin.”

To which I say: no, Rosie, it isn’t like that at all. It’s like a grown-up adult woman imbibing one fluid ounce of a very common, legal substance. Plus a little salt. Also, Julie Andrews shoots heroin all the time — spoonful of medicine, am I right?

Rosie O’Donnell Wants to Play Lauren Zizes’ Mom on ‘Glee’

When I first met Rosie O’Donnell we kind of just clicked. She was doing a reading with Nora Ephron (Sleepless in Seattle and When Harry Met Sally) at the Giorgio Armani boutique on Madison Avenue. The two of them captivated the room immediately: It wasn’t their makeup. It wasn’t their hair. It was their dynamic. Then I met Rosie, which was kind of major. She cracked a joke, sat down next to my wheelchair and asked me: “So, does Viagra work?” I thought that was the joke, but then she asked it again, and as my face turned from red to white to red to “huuuuuh?” all I could muster was: “I’ve never had a need for it, Rosie!” Bam. Since then, we’ve been friends. Rosie, me, Viagra. Who’d have thought?

We had a conversation about beauty this week—her responses are in her own haiku prose:

Francesco: Okay, so when we first met, you were very glamorous. It was “Fashion’s Night Out.” Since then, we’ve hung out in less-formal settings, and I have to say you are just as at ease in a designer outfit, with your makeup artist and hairstylist making you glam, as you are in your casual wear at home. How do you define beauty for yourself?

Rosie: i have no idea
i think when i am in hair and make up – i feel more like a character
not a real person
for me
no make up – jeans a t shirt is when all r most beautiful
real works for me

Francesco: What did you view as beautiful when you were 16, and how has that changed today?

Francesco: I know you know Glee as well as I do, which Twitter can attest to. What sparks your interest in that show?

Rosie: it is just brilliant
the writing – the casting – ryan and brad who thought it up
the production numbers – the story lines – the character development
it inspires me so much
i feel it has saved musical theater in many ways
so many broadway stars get to shine on that show – in ways no other show ever has allowed

i tivo it
i watch with my children
i buy the dvds
i go to the summer concert tour
i adore that show
so so much

its a show that makes me proud to be an entertainer
(as silly as that sounds)

Video Gallery: Neil Patrick Harris and Other Awesome Hosts of the Tony Awards

Hey everyone, remember that rumor floating around that Neil Patrick Harris was going to host this year’s Tony Awards? Well, it’s not a rumor anymore! On Tuesday, it was announced that Harris will, in fact, emcee the 2011 ceremony. In the press release, Harris notes that he’s both “honored” and “stoked” to have been asked to host. “It should be a great show,” he says. “We’ve got a fantastic mix of live performances, a few secret surprises, and since they’re closed for retooling, we’re using all the rigging equipment from Spider-Man. What could possibly go wrong?” Ceremony producers Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss go on to say that they’re thrilled to have him, and that they’re “even happier he fits in the Spider-Man rigging.”

This, of course, is awesome news. In fact, except for the years where they decide to do something silly and have no host, the Tonys are generally known for their awesome choice in hosts. Therefore, in honor of Neil Patrick Harris and the spectacular job he will undoubtedly do, here’s a look at some of the best hosts in recent Tonys history:

2010: Sean Hayes
Will and Grace star Sean Hayes hosted last year’s ceremony, in which he was also up for the Best Actor in a Musical award for Promises, Promises. By the time of the awards in June, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark had already seen the first of its many, many opening night delays (it was originally scheduled to open in February of 2010), so naturally the jokes were already surfacing. This clip makes me wonder if maybe the creative team of Turn Off the Dark missed an opportunity here…

2009: Neil Patrick Harris
Yep, our beloved NPH has hosted the Tonys before! We’ve covered this briefly earlier, but just in case you need a reminder, here’s why we’re so psyched that he’s coming back again this year:

2008: Whoopi Goldberg
Whoopi is a familiar face at the Oscars, having hosted that event four times; however, she also hosted the Tonys in 2008. The running gag during that year’s ceremony inserted Whoopi into iconic scenes of well-known musicals like Spamalot and Mary Poppins, which, naturally, resulted in much hilarity. Whoopi is one of those people who’s at the top of my list of people I’d really like to sit down and have lunch with one day. Here’s a collection of her funniest Tony moments:

After singlehandedly rescuing – and destroying – The View, always-controversial Rosie O’Donnell is returning to televison with a show on the new Oprah Winfrey network. And it sounds like she’s back to her old tricks. “I just don’t know why this kid seems to be held to a different standard than anyone else,” she said, referencing Chris Brown on her XM radio show. When asked if race could be a contributing factor, she added “I totally think there is, and I also think it’s why he felt he was safer with Robin Roberts. [Editor's note: Roberts, who is African-American, was assigned to interview Brown on Good Morning America.] There’s no word on whether Rosie thinks it’s okay to hate Mel Gibson for hitting women but also being white.

Crushable Confessional: I Love Elisabeth Hasselbeck

Whew! So, that’s over. The hard part is owning why I love one of the nation’s most reviled and polarizing television personalities. But I admit it: Elisabeth Hasselbeck is awesome, and I love her.

Did you just vomit? I saw that!

The View co-host — also known as Elisabeth Hasselcrack, in Dlisted’s wonderfully twisted vocabulary — is so despised that she is a regular target in the blogosphere and beyond. Why? She is a proud conservative who endorsed the Iraq war (and brawled with Rosie O’Donnell over it in the most thrilling debate in View, if not TV, history). She is a Type-A blonde with a really chirpy voice, a Tracy Flick in Louboutins.

Besides Rosie, and half of humanity, Elisabeth has made a mortal enemy out of formerly stalked sportscaster-turned-Dancing With The Stars contestant Erin Andrews. Erin is protesting Elisabeth for insulting her sexy costumes on the campy ABC competition; last week, Elisabeth seemed to suggest that Erin was a hypocrite when she remarked that her convicted stalker — a Peeping Tom who filmed her undressed in a hotel room — could have bypassed jail entirely and just watched DWTS instead. Cue the public outcry! Everyone called for Elisabeth’s head, and Barbara Walters made her apologize on the air.

And now, Popeater’s Rob Shuter reports that Erin wants to take home the vaulted mirrorball trophy to spite Elisabeth — and help women! A source told Shuter:

“The irony is that Elisabeth has single-handedly united everyone in America behind Erin,” said a ‘Dancing’ insider. “Elisabeth’s comments have not only made Erin more determined to win, but have also given every woman in America who has ever been made fun of because of what they wear or how they look a champion.”

Oh, please. Erin Andrews needs to stop shouting at Elisabeth and personally THANK her for helping her Dancing odds. Without Elisabeth’s entertaining ramblings, Erin would just be a runner up and not a real contender. Everyone knows voters favor Olympians! Now Evan Lysacek has some real competition.

Elisabeth is awesome because she is great TV: She is emotional and cannot mask her feelings; she has strong opinions and is not afraid to voice them; she is not too proud to apologize when she said something heinous. She wears really, really cute outfits every day, and I admittedly DVR The View in part to see what Elisabeth wears as she debates the day’s Hot Topics. She looks good in fuschia, dammit!

I don’t agree with a thing she says — but at least she’s not boring.
