Mary-Louise Parker To Replace Demi Moore As Gloria Steinem In Lovelace

Following her hospitalization for “exhaustion,” Demi Moore has reportedly been replaced in the role of feminist leader Gloria Steinem in 70s porn biopic Lovelace by fellow ageless beauty Mary Louise Parker.

According to Us Weekly, the film was left looking for a new Gloria Steinem after Moore dropped out earlier this week, and Parker fit the bill. I know it’s hard to keep the two bipoics straight, so I’ll remind you that this is the one that stars Amanda Seyfried as the troubled porn star and never tarnished its name by casting Lindsay Lohan. Gloria Steinem will not play a major part in the film, but is an important (and largely beloved) historical figure whom I imagine most actresses would be excited to play.

My first thought on hearing this news, as well as the previous news Moore would play her, was to be annoyed that someone so glamorous was being tapped for this part. Not only that, but Parker has made a name for herself on Weeds playing a selfish character with little political consciousness who gladly engages in gender normative behavior to get what she wants. But a closer look shows that Parker does bear a passing resemblance to Steinem, and you pretty much have to be glamorous to be a Hollywood actress, so there’s not much to be done about that. It’s also kind of weird that only actresses 10+ years older than Steinem was when Deepthroat came out are being cast in the role, but the 47-year-old Parker could probably pass for 38. I guess they’re accounting for the difference in aging between a regular person, and an actress who devotes lots of time and money to looking as young as possible for as long as possible.

O.J. Simpson Is Khloe Kardashian’s Father, Says National Enquirer

I’d post this under “Fan Fiction” because of how ludicrous it is, but we can’t take credit: The National Enquirer is pushing a story that Khloe Kardashian‘s father is none other than acquitted killer O.J. Simpson. It’s the perfect soapy, fitting, fictional solution to the “who is Khloe’s dad?” controversy of the past few weeks.

You might remember that before the Kardashians were famous for Kim‘s sex tape, their family had a different notoriety: Dad Robert Kardashian was O.J.’s lawyer in his 1995 murder trial for the death of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson. The Kardashians were close friends with O.J. and Nicole, but the Enquirer claims that O.J. and Kris Jenner had an affair back in 1983, around the time that Khloe was conceived. Another source said, “O.J. bragged about his sex life and many female conquests, which he said included some of his best friends’ wives.”

Of course, the Kardashians have summarily denied this. Kris tweeted, Thanks for all your love and support today dolls! Wow some of the stories out there today are either fabricated, or SO 24 years ago!! LOVE U, while Khloe wrote, And do they rumors ever stop? What is the recent obsession with all of this? What are they going to say next? #SoapOpera

Jay-Z Is Going To Keep Using The Word ‘Bitch,’ After All

When I first heard that Jay-Z had supposedly vowed to stop using the word “bitch” following the birth of his daughter, I was skeptical. Jay-Z uses that word a lot, and it seems inconsistent with his image to do a sudden 180 like that. After years of unapologetically using it to refer to lesser rappers, other people’s daughters, and even the mother of his own magic child, would he really let a baby change his mind on what is, for him, a basic element of language, to be used interchangeably with “woman” in both positive and negative contexts?

No, Hova wouldn’t. “That poem and story are fake,” the unrepentant swear sayer told The New York Daily News of the poem allegedly written by him that’s currently going around on the internet. He’s nothing if not consistent.

Is it okay for rappers to use that word? As a feminist, I’ve often struggled to reconcile my dislike of that term with my appreciation for rappers who use it. It’s become such a common syntactical trope that most MCs don’t think twice about it, even using it in songs where they’re supposed to be praising the “bitch” in question. Take Jay-Z’s verse in the recently released “That’s My Bitch,” where he’s basically like, “bitch, you should be in a museum!”

I imagine Beyonce is cool with this, or he would have heard about it from her. Anyway, my point is, Jay-Z is almost definitely not going to back down on his use of the term, and we can probably expect a defensive statement from him soon about how everyone in hip-hop uses it, it’s not necessarily disrespectful, that’s just how he raps, etc.

A sadly believable rumor began circulating today that Kim Kardashian and her people basically set out to cast an NBA basketball player to date/romance/marry her on this past season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and the lumbering 6’9″ Kris Humphries wasn’t even her first choice. But…but…he proposed to her with a bunch of candles and rose petals. That must mean their love is real.

According to Wetpaint.com, a representative of the E! network first approached a different basketball star with their Faustian bargain of “you may date Kim Kardashian and touch her giant ass, but you must do so in the most humiliating way possible.” I guess he hates beautiful women and fame, because he reportedly turned it down:

A source tells Wetpaint Entertainment that last fall, a representative of E!, the network that airs the many Kardashian reality shows, approached the New York Knicks to find out if Danilo Gallinari, the studly Italian who was then a forward on the team, would be interested in dating Kim. According to our source, both E! and Kim were interested in having her date a big New York athlete for the debut season of Kourtney & Kim Take New York, and the Knicks were their first choice. (The show, which first aired in January 2011, begins its second season next month.) Gallinari — then 22 to Kim’s 30 — was told that such a move would be good for his career and that he would garner lots of media exposure. Gallinari declined, saying he would be happy to meet Kim but wasn’t interested in dating or being a reality-show star. E! had “no comment” when we called them.

Do you mean to tell me that Kim and Kris’ heartfelt courtship did not just happen to serendipitously collide with the filming of the last season of her TV show? And that she went shopping for him like one might shop for a designer handbag? Say it ain’t so! If this relationship isn’t real, I just don’t know what to believe in anymore.

Rapper Martyn Claims He Had A Gay Affair With Chris Brown

Forget the Game/50 Cent feud—the newest gay accusation comes from Martyn, a rapper who claims he had sex with Chris Brown. It all started on Wednesday, when several gossip sites released leaked Twitter DMs (direct messages) between Martyn and Chris. You can check out the whole conversation here, but these are the relevant parts (read bottom to top):

Immediately people flocked to Martyn’s Twitter, many claiming the conversations were fake and citing the Photoshop tool displayed on the navigation bar in the screenshots. Over the past 48 hours, Martyn’s been talking back-and-forth with his fans, and what he has to say isn’t what we expected: Some of the messages in the exchange were added to make it more dramatic, but yes, he did hook up with Chris Brown.

Of the many tweets, we’ve picked out the ones that best summarize Martyn’s side of the story:

We’re not entirely convinced that Martyn’s telling the truth; after all, you have to note that the more famous member involved here is keeping mum, and the (by comparison) amateur is the one who’s only too happy to give interviews. Then again, Chris obviously stands to lose a lot more from this. But the longer he stays silent, the easier it is for people to believe Martyn wholeheartedly.

Jessica Simpson Might Be Pregnant

Nick Lachey might’ve gotten remarried first, but if the rumors and “reports” are true, then Jessica Simpson beat her ex to something else: Multiple outlets say that the singer and one-time Newlyweds star might be expecting her first child.

But take this announcement with a grain of salt, since it’s coming from In Touch Weekly and not a more reputable source like People. They say that at fiancé Eric Johnson‘s 32nd birthday party recently, Jessica sent back her glass of champagne. From there, we jump to a source saying she’s already having “kooky cravings,” especially (this triggers our gag reflexes) nacho chips dipped in chocolate.

Celebitchy points to a recent blind item from Blind Gossip, posted a little over a week ago, that definitely seems to fit:

This female star has certainly had her ups and downs. Her career has gone up and down and has expanded over more than one creative medium. She has dated at least three or four famous guys, has been married to and divorced from another celebrity, and is a tabloid staple. Depending on who you talk to and which day it is, she is either gorgeous or ugly. Well, we know one thing for sure: she is pregnant! She is seven weeks along, and you should expect the announcement within the next couple of weeks. She could wait longer, but she wants to avoid the criticisms about her fluctuating weight. She thinks it will be good for people to know that she “has a baby on board, rather than a burrito on board.” Both she and her partner are very happy about the pregnancy. Oh, and they will be getting married, although the wedding will now happen after the baby is born.

The detail that most fits is “depending on the day, she’s either gorgeous or ugly”: Jess has certainly had a tough time of it in the media, getting constant criticism for her mom jeans and her fluctuating weight.

This would seem to explain the rumors that Jessica was getting cold feet and the wedding would be pushed off indefinitely, though In Touch says that she and Eric will get hitched before the baby arrives in the spring. Oh, and remember what I said about People? Celebuzz reports that the magazine is coming out with a “special pregnancy announcement” in the next few weeks. So we’ll hunker down and wait for a big announcement over Twitter or in the mag, and in the meantime scrutinize pics of Jessica like the one above.

When was the last time the Internet got so riled up over a rumor? …Oh right, the origin of Miley Cyrus‘ lingerie photo. But at least this piece of “news” is more wholesome.

‘The Hangover 3′ Might Take Place in an Insane Asylum

Zach Galifianakis could totally have been pulling the interviewer’s leg in this Rolling Stone article, or he could have just revealed the plot of the third Hangover movie. Reportedly, the next installment will see Alan (Galifianakis) trapped in a mental institution — for reasons that will be revealed later, we’re sure — and Stu (Ed Helms) and Phil (Bradley Cooper) coming up with a plan to bail him out.

This plan will probably involve a tiny person/animal — baby sloths, anyone? — and will not include poor Justin Bartha, who will never be a member of the wolfpack.

Jack Quaid and Leven Rambin Cast As Marvel and Glimmer in ‘The Hunger Games’

District 1 has its tributes: Jack Quaid (son of Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan) and Leven Rambin (Sloan’s daughter Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy) will play Marvel and Glimmer in The Hunger Games. In the series, District 1 is one of the richer districts because it manufactures luxury goods for the Capitol. In keeping with the lush lifestyle, the children receive strange names. But don’t think they’re softies: Katniss nicknames the District 1 tributes “Careers” because of how they band together during training. Of course, there can be only one champion.

Quaid doesn’t seem to have much acting experience, though of course he comes from an impressive pedigree. Rambin got her start on All My Children and has made recurring appearances on CSI: Miami, One Tree Hill, and Grey’s. Rumor has it that Elizabeth Banks will be joining the cast as the effusive Effie Trinket, Katniss and Peeta’s handler, but we’ll report separately on that if it’s confirmed.
