I used to date Bill Hader. He’s hilarious and everything, but ultimately we broke up because he realized that I was actually in love with his Saturday Night Live character, Stefon, and not with him. Though my relationship with Billfon only lasted a few minutes, those were a great couple of minutes. But I woke up to find that Billfon was gone and my actual boyfriend, who would be upset if I left him for Bill Hader but would probably want to come along if I left him for Stefon, was there. More »
As you probably know, Scream 4 opened last Friday, and you know what? I was actually pleasantly surprised by it. There’s only so much you can ask of a horror movie– this isn’t high art, people– and while it felt a little trite at the beginning, it ended up going some fun places. Naturally I don’t want to give away too much of what happened, so instead, here’s a little bit of what didn’t happen, just to tease you a bit. Happy screaming! More »
Do you frequently get ticked off at movies that don’t end the way you think they should? Well, now there’s a solution! The folks behind How It Should Have Ended take all those disappointing endings and spin them into cinematic gold. In honor of Scream 4′s opening day, we bring you a video detailing how the first Scream should have ended. Just when you think it couldn’t get anymore meta… More »
As you may have gathered from our many Scream-related posts this week, Scream 4 comes out on Friday. Those who celebrate the return of ’90s nostalgia, rejoice! But there has been a dark side to this most joyous of reunions, and I’m not talking about blood-soaked stabbings: Even though the creative team behind Scream 4 has been traditionally hush hush about the plot of the film itself, what HAS been emerging is that screenwriter Kevin Williamson and Dimension Films producer Bob Weinstein had a falling-out of some sort during the its creation. Weirdly, though, the details are, shall we say, a bit underdeveloped. What gives, guys? Let’s take a look at the evidence: More »
In 1996, horror master Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson made slasher flick history with a little movie they made called Scream. While the slasher genre had been around for a while (Halloween in 1978, Friday the 13th in 1980, A Nightmare On Elm Street in 1984, etc.), Scream was unique in that it gave us self-aware horror movie characters for the first time. These were characters who not only knew that they were in a horror movie, but who also (and perhaps more importantly) knew the RULES of a horror movie. With this awareness in their arsenal, they were able to both follow and subvert the rules, either helping or hindering their survival. They fought their way through three movies with varying degrees of success, and by the time the third one came around, we were all under the impression that it was going to be the last one. And it was…

Last night at Spike TV’s Scream Awards, I’m pretty sure True Blood won everything. But maybe that’s because I only follow fictional characters of the HBO show on my Twitter account (sometimes they tweet back!). But between Alan Ball winning some award and Eric Skarsgard winning another, Wes Craven hopped on stage with a recently divorced David Arquette, Neve Campbell, and some blond chick that may or may not have been Emma Roberts to premiere the first trailer from Scream 4. Wes Craven’s meta-slasher film Scream has been reanimated for a new sequel, and with the same director, writer, and cast as the original (well the ones they haven’t already killed off). But there will be at least one major difference in Scream 4: While Neve Campbell will still be playing Sidney Prescott, she’ll no longer be the lead of the film (pointing to a possible early cameo-death like Drew Barrymore in Scream?). Instead, that honor goes to Hotel For Dogs… More »
Who Should Star In Scream 4? – Well if we’re cashing in on 90s nostalgia, lets actually be un-ironically psyched for the next self-aware Scream installment! Wes Craven, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette are all signed on! Who else should be in it…Rory Culkin? Ashley Greene? (via BuzzSugar)
