Circa 1998, Sean Connery wrote a letter to Steve Jobs stating in no uncertain terms that he would never, under any circumstances, appear in any Apple advertisements. Okay, so he didn’t really– it’s a small spoof which is in actuality part of a bigger spoof– but it’s still pretty funny. I don’t know about you, but I really enjoy the image of Sean Connery yelling “I am f**king JAMES BOND!” at Steve Jobs. More »
A funny thing happened last week. I had decided to do a Virgin Viewing of a Bond movie, so I randomly selected one from each Bond, plopped them into a poll, and asked people to vote. And every single one of the movies lost. Dr. No and GoldenEye each got votes, but so many people left comments on the poll and on my Facebook wall saying that I had completely overlooked Goldfinger that the movie essentially won by write-in vote. So Goldfinger it was. More »
In my Virgin Viewing feature, I watch classic movies that I somehow never got around to seeing. Past entries have included a pretty wide selection of genres, from Disney (Mary Poppins) to horror (The Exorcist) to action-adventure (Raiders of the Lost Ark). Next up: a Bond movie. I’m going to let you guys decide which one I should see, since I currently don’t have a horse in the “Best Bond ever” race. More »
Acting isn’t like other professions – some people keep working well into their 70s and 80s, although just about any industry would have made them retire by then. But some actors voluntarily choose to retire at some point in their careers. Meet ten actors who quit (or just threatened to). More »
Earlier this week, we hit up the Dressed to Kilt event hosted by Sean Connery’s nonpofit Friends of Scotland. We took some exclusive video featuring American Idol’s Kellie Pickler, Mike Myers, gold medal speed skater Shani Davis, Scottish actress Louise Linton, Alan Cumming, Real Housewife Kelly Killoren Bensimon and Joan Jett (who brought the house down). You can see all the video highlights below, including a hot performance by a hip hop trio, in kilts, of course:

We heard that Sean Connery wanted a low-key entrance to last night’s Dressed to Kilt event, hosted by his own non-profit group Friends of Scotland. But the man who once played James Bond can never do anything low key. Instead of an under-the-radar balck SUV or towncar, Sean arrived in this custom painted Mercedes, keeping with the night’s plaid theme.

We can’t get enough of anything Camelot-related; Sean Connery as King Arthur in First Knight, any mention of Knights of the Round Table or Merlin or Guenevere, The Sword and the Stone, bring it on. And, we don’t really think we’re in the minority, since there always seem to be an abundance of new movies, TV shows and books on the subject. Like, Starz’s upcoming television series Camelot, produced by the creative team behind that other amazing period TV series… More »
