On tonight’s premiere episode of Shear Genius, we got to meet the unusual mix of personalities that will compete this season. I already know that Brig is nuts. She skated around the apartment wearing only a gold swimsuit and skates. Some of the guys are a bit out there as well. I think it’s going to be a great season!

The first challenge was to transform a punk or Goth style woman into a more updated, mainstream style. I loved it that one of the Goth girls was Vyxsin Fiala, from Amazing Race fame!

The person who did the best job was Amy, since she started with a girl with a whole head of dreadlocks and made her look really good. That gave her first choice of models in the Elimination Challenge.

The big challenge was to style the models’ hair to cover their breasts because they would only be wearing a bathing suit bottom. Some did a great job, but others totally failed. The winner was Janine and she gets immunity in the next challenge. The three worst were Joey, Adee and Amy. The judges decided to send home Joey.

Several days ago, I got the chance to talk to Kim Vo & Camila Alvez from Shear Genius season 3. They were both so incredibly sweet and they shared some information about the new season of the show that premieres on Bravo tomorrow night at 10/9c.

Kim says that this season, more than in previous seasons, the challenges will be like real-world problems facing celebrity stylists every day. Thank goodness we won’t have to see the contestant style dogs or shear sheep…

Camila says that she’ll be adding a new twist to each challenge too by having her own hair styled in a way that she gives a hint about the challenge. It could be a lot of fun to see the different ways that she can have her hair styled.

She’s like many of us in the world and has naturally very curly hair. I’m hoping to get some styling ideas from her.

The other great new dimension to this season is the fact that they searched all over the world to get a very international mix of stylists to compete.

I’m looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us. Especially since Kim Vo promises that a room full of stylists is bound to bring lots of drama!

The fun and fabulous reality hair styling competition Shear Genius is headed back for its third great season. There will be a few changes this time out, since the show will have a new host. International model and handbag designer Camila Alves will take the reigns of the series when it premieres on February 3 at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.

Celebrity stylist Kim Vo will return as a judge and will be joined by Jonathan Antin, celebrity stylist and former star of Bravo’s hit series Blow Out. The competing stylists will be mentored by accomplished stylist Orlando Pita. It promises to be another very competitive and wild season.

“Shear Genius” has gone international for the first time ever and after combing the world in search of top stylists, Bravo has assembled 12 remarkably talented individuals who will raise the level of competition as never seen before. The winner will receive $100,000 in prize money furnished by Nexxus Salon Hair Care, an apprenticeship with Nexxus and the chance to style hair for an Allure magazine photo shoot.

The world of styling is much bigger than just a salon – and Bravo’s “Shear Genius” offers a glimpse into that captivating and little-known arena. This season the challenges are more glamorous, the hair more knotty, and the competition more fierce, as the contestants attempt to demonstrate that their style is a cut above the rest. Throughout the course of the series, the stylists’ skills are put to the test as they find themselves working behind the scenes at an iconic hotel, styling a celebrity at a glamorous home in the Hollywood Hills, and even in a rural barn.
