“You may have noticed, my daughter has some space issues,” my mother once introduced herself, after picking up myself and my new boyfriend from college. Besides being the world’s worst first-conversation topic, my mom was actually speaking two-fold: She had always been worried that I (emotionally and physically) kept people at a distance unless I was literally tackling them; and also, as she described it, “You had problems navigating your body in space.” While that may sound very metaphysical and… More »
The clog is one of fashion’s trickiest items, right? Pair them with a heel and you’re practically walking on a tightrope. We’ve noticed lots of trendsetting ladies wearing high-heeled clogs recently, and sometimes it looks awesome! Other times, it looks horrendous.
Let me confess: I am very conflicted. In theory, I feel like I have to like these high-heeled clog contraptions, because everyone is wearing them, including celebrities. And they give off a funky, hippie vibe that I totally dig. At… More »
Yikes, this is a tough one: I generally don’t like to say that anything fashion-related is automatically a deal-breaker, unless maybe you somehow got your hands on one of those “Eat Less” shirts from Urban Outfitters, and even then I’d probably just be impressed that you got one before they were yanked. And I understand that those shoes that look like feet – Vibram Five Fingers – probably have some sort of functionality that’d be very good on hikes, or… More »
Kids these days! And their stilettos!
Our parents didn’t let us wear heels until high school (well, a pair of patent leather Mary-Janes for 8th grade graduation to be exact), but here in 2010, even toddlers can get a few inches taller.
Predictably, Suri Cruise, as the ultimate trendsetter the under 5 set, was the first of the towering tots (as we pointed out in April). Suri has rocked two-inch heels from Gap Kids–and now several UK retailers are carrying heels in… More »
And here we were thinking Orlando Bloom was just a Ken Doll (okay, maybe more of a Barbie) automaton, incapable of injecting any amount of testosterone into a room. Turns out there is something Orlando shares in common with other, non-elvish men: he hates watching his fiance shop for shoes!
According to Page Six, Miranda Kerr spent all Memorial Day dragging Orlando around so she could try on footwear, and he finally broke down in the cafe of Bergdorf Goodman. An… More »
Boots in summer? — Admit it, you feel bad for those boots sitting idly by in your closet all summer long. Bring them out to play with these tips for how to wear boots in summer. (via Already Pretty)
Mira Sorvino shone in a tiny sequined dress and silver sequined peep toe heels on the red carpet last night. Hot.

It’s hard to admit that we’re envious of the shoe closet of a three-year-old, but there it is. Suri Cruise has a penchant for color and an eye for fashion when it comes to shoes — preferring bright reds and greens or metallic silver or gold, and daring to wear a heel even though she’s only been walking for a few years. Note to burgeoning fashionistas: you have to start young if you want to be wearing Louboutins some day! More »
This fall, when looking for a new pair of shoes, I promised myself I wouldn’t buy a pair of suede shoes. The soft fabric can be so enticing and wintry, but it’s just impractical for life in the city. I’m tough on my shoes – and I always seem to get caught in the rain.
Ultimately, however, the pair of chocolate brown suede booties were too good to walk away from. I loved their round toe and low heel, and the… More »
Wedge heels remind us of summertime, and so do these awesome designs by Cynthia Rowley for Roxy. They come in two cute patterns — black-and-white gingham and colorful kaleidoscope — and can be filed under Things We’ve Pre-ordered That We Love. The wedges will be sold online beginning April 1; we can’t wait to wear with summer dresses or shorts, if we’re feeling sassy.

Sometimes Urban Outfitter’s confounds me: it’s simultaneously hit and miss, like Topshop, where you walk in, say “Hell no, I’m not wearing that” to 70 % of the merch and then walk out with a semi-ugly ’80s-inspired Angora sweater with shoulder pads that you love just because.
These Victorian Spectator Boots from Urban are my shoe equivalent of that Angora sweater. They are so wrong — fugly even — but I kind of want to wear them with black tights and… More »
