David Hasselhoff to replace Simon Cowell on Britain’s Got Talent, hopefully adopt English accent – We’d love to see David put on his Baywatch trunks and hit the dreary streets of London. Good save the Hoff! (PopEater)
One of Simon Cowell‘s young British protegees is in a bit of hot water today, after news came out that she might have broken the eligibility rules to be an X Factor participant. It turns out that contestant Katie Waissel may have taped some vocals for one of our favorite young singers, David Reed. The track in question is “Moving Mountains,” which David once played for Crushable live. The track was recorded over a year ago, but X Factor rules state that contestants cannot have an outstanding recording contract.
The producers supposedly paid a lot of money to get that track buried. Which means they may have known about her recording contract and tried to get her on the show anyhow. If Katie doesn’t get kicked off, it may be Simon Cowell who has a lot of explaining to do.
(Editor’s Note: In case you missed it, The X-Factor saw an amazing boxing match break out between two young Brits — Abbey Johnston and Lisa Parker — during a recent episode. They later made up. Jessica Poolt‘s obsession with the duo has led her to dub them Ablisa)
How do I love thee, Ablisa? Let me count the ways… More »

It’s a fact: Jessica Simpson is in talks with American Idol about joining the judges’ panel next season. She’s not going to replace Simon Cowell; she would, however, make a great replacement for Ellen DeGeneres, who is dead weight on a show being singlehandedly held together by the prodigious talents of Ryan Seacrest.
Here is why Jessica should replace Ellen:
1. Unofficial studies have shown that Idol fans really, really miss Paula Abdul. Paula, with her seal claps and glazed, medicated eyes,… More »
Crushable has learned that American Idol is wooing Jessica Simpson to be a judge on the show.
We hear there’s interest on Jessica’s end, but talks are in the early stages.
A rep for Jessica declined comment, and an American Idol spokesperson could not immediately be reached.
Now that Simon Cowell’s on The X Factor, and Chris Isaak may fill his spot, who would Jessica replace? Ellen?
UPDATE: Fox has no comment. Where there’s smoke there’s…… More »
Bret Michaels can say goodbye to replacing Simon Cowell on American Idol. While chatter has been building that the beloved guylinered rocker – who has demonstrated the right way to launch a career comeback – would sub in for Simon, it now appears Idol producers would rather go with Chris Isaak.
Writes The Hollywood Reporter (via Gawker):
Rocker Bret Michaels was given the once-over and even lobbied for the job last week in an HLN interview (“I would love to do it,… More »

Here at Crushable, we focus mainly on pop culture in America. So we’re interested in finding out what people are into abroad, besides the typical crossover phenomenons (George Clooney, Madonna and Justin Bieber). Our British friend Bryan is not all up in entertainment-y stuff, so he asked his plugged-in sister to weigh in via email. Here’s her verbatim feedback from across the pond:
Celebrities: “Cheryl Cole (most women and men are obsessed with her), Simon Cowell (massively popular, and seems to be… More »
Paula Abdul will present the award for Best Choreography at this Sunday’s Tony Awards, a show insider tells Crushable. Paula, who will soon be a judge on CBS’ Gotta Dance, recently made a cameo at the American Idol finale to pay tribute to departing judge/partner-in-sexual tension Simon Cowell.
Crushable has also learned that not only will Green Day be performing but also Glee’s Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison.
Will Matthew team up with Neil Patrick Harris for another rendition of Dream On?… More »
Grass is green, the world is round and Lee DeWyze is the worst-ever winner in the history of American Idol.
As a loyal viewer of the Fox competition since day one, I stand by that statement. Lee has some talent but no stage presence, no real of selling out stadiums like Carrie Underwood or even doing Broadway like Taylor Hicks. Tellingly, he’s the third unassuming guitar guy in a row to win the Idol title after Kris Allen and David Cook…. More »
Lee DeWyze has won the ninth season of American Idol, snagging more votes than competitor Crystal Bowersox. The rocker from Mount Prospect, Illinois, was teary-eyed and rendered speechless upon hearing the result, thanking fans and telling Crystal, “I love you.”
Lee’s win Wednesday night confirmed DialIdol.com’s earlier prediction that he’d pull an upset over Crystal — our favorite — based on the site’s measurement of busy signals from viewers who voted for the final two. (DialIdol also accurately predicted Kris Allen’s… More »
Paula Abdul is returning to save American Idol! The beloved judge and Simon Cowell foil will bring her seal claps and misty eyes back to the Fox series for this week’s finale, People reports.
The Idol-performance survey has spoken, and the verdict is in: This season sucks, Crystal Bowersox should be matched with Adam Lambert instead of Lee DeWHYze, and Ryan Seacrest can’t do it all himself, OK? He need Paula to step in and rescue the show from the brink… More »

Colin Hanks made a splash this weekend by marrying his publicist Samantha Bryant in a small ceremony that consummated the couple’s 10-month engagement. And while two celebrities getting married usually makes it to the cover of People, there are far more A-listers whose eye was caught by someone else on their set. As our wedding present to Hanks, here’s our list of stars who have married inside the industry but outside the actor’s studio. More »
For today’s installment of Between the Lines, our feature exploring the hidden aspects of popular culture, I will address the judges’ always-glowing endorsement of Lee DeWyze on American Idol despite Lee’s lack of stage presence, vocal power and potential to win the ninth season. Add to that his predilection for bad ’90s alterna-rock (Chris Daughtry also had this issue, but his ridiculous talent trumped his bad taste). Call me a cynic, but I don’t see a Daughtry-like future in the… More »
When a beloved reality series jumps the proverbial shark, we need someone to blame — and in the case of American Idol, that someone has become Ryan Seacrest, the show’s longtime host and traffic cop.
Seacrest is known — and routinely mocked — for his metrosexual appearance, uber-Hollywood tan and cheesetastic delivery, the coiner of catchphrases such as, “Seacrest out!” and “THIS. IS. AMERICAN IDOL.” But he’s an unflappable showman and tireless workhorse, making a gig as ringmaster on the biggest… More »
So Michael Lynche was spared on last night’s American Idol, after Simon Cowell and company debated throughout the show whether to use their much-hyped, one-time-only “save” or cut loose a contestant. And Michael — who sang for his life — got lucky, re-joining the rest of season 9′s hopefuls, who are all kinda meh save for soulful Crystal Bowersox and quirky Siobhan Magnus.
But the contestants got a dose of undeniable talent when Rihanna and Idol alum David Archuleta paid the… More »
Crushable calls foul! – If rumors that Angelina Jolie is expecting are true, then we’re slated to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol. Not happening.
All week, executive producer Nigel Lythgoe has been breathlessly announcing the So You Think You Can Dance alums who will be making up the “All Star Pool” of dancers for the upcoming season of the show.
