New Artists Added to Siren Fest, After Party
Some new bands have been added to the lineup for the Village Voice’s Siren Festival: A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS, THEE OH SEES, and TINY MASTERS OF TODAY (who have a new album out). JUSTINE D. and DEADHEAT DJs were added to DJ as well. These join the already announced BUILT TO SPILL, SPANK ROCK, THE RAVEONETTES, FRIGHTENED RABBIT, GRAND DUCHY, MONOTONIX, FUTURE OF THE LEFT, JAPANDROIDS, MICACHU & THE SHAPES and BEAR HANDS. Siren Festival Returns to Coney Island!

Everyone thought last year was the last, but the Village Voice has announced that the Siren Festival will return to Coney Island this summer! The free festival, although plagued by crowds and crappy sound, is still a favorite New York tradition of many. Who can turn down free music at Coney Island?? Free McCarren After Party Shows

There are a bunch of free shows at Music Hall of Williamsburg in the next few weeks. In addition to the previously mentioned Mobius Band one on July 13 after the Breeders show, DJ Spooky will be there July 17 after the DJ Shadow/Cut Chemist show, Celebration will be playing July 20 after the Liars show, and Heloise & Savoir Faire will be there August 24 after a TBA… More »

Siren Festival Same Weekend as Pitchfork Fest
The almost definitely last-ever Siren Festival at Coney Island will be on July 19 this year. That’s the same weekend that Pitchfork has its festival in Chicago, and I must say I’ve always had an awesome time at Pitchfork, while Siren is often overcrowded and has horrible sound.
