Snap This: Jennifer Garner Runs Errands in Sneakers

We can’t tell you how much we appreciate this paparazzi photo of Jennifer Garner out running errands in a pair of casual sneakers. Because every time we see a picture of a celeb juggling a paper bag full of Whole Foods groceries, a venti coffee drink, and an infant all while wearing four-inch heels we’re like, ugh, we’re doing it wrong. But no, we’re not doing it wrong, those celebrities are doing it wrong! Because it is perfectly reasonable to wear sneakers while running errands. Or while running. Or, like, at pretty much any other time devoid of a “black tie” stipulation. More »

We’re thinking of getting some new shoes and we’re torn between these cute oxfords we saw at a boutique in Brooklyn, new Louboutin pumps, or a pair of sneakers with Justin Bieber‘s face on them. We know, we know — go with the Biebs, right? Okay, we’re sold. Check out our gallery of the best JB-themed footwear on the web.

Sneaker Roundup: Festive Christmas Shoes!

Sneaker Roundup: Festive Christmas Shoes!

If you’re anything like us, you love dressing up for the holidays but can’t quite commit to a wardrobe of Santa sweaters and red-n-green plaid. The solution? Christmas sneaks! We were surprised to discover just how many 25th of December-inspired shoes are out there, but we’re certainly not complaining. Maybe a pair or two will magically appear under the tree for next year? Walk A Mile In Her Heels: Falling Head Over Olsenboye

Walk A Mile In Her Heels: Falling Head Over Olsenboye

Oh Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, what I won’t do for you two. I was dubious about changing from my normal sneakers into your pink suede Ivy platform boots (part of your Olsenboye line at JCPenney) just in time for Thanksgiving, especially since I was traveling across the country to spend the holidays with my boyfriend’s parents. I mean there is stunt journalism, and then there is relationship-ruining journalism. More »

Sneaker Roundup: Hello Kitties And Tigers And Teddy Bears, Oh My

When we saw these Hello Kitty for Reebok sneakers we didn’t know what to think. No offense to Ms. Kitty, but the furry shoes are a little more extreme than we’d consider lacing up around our own ankles — as much as we love the sentiment. So, question is: are there more palatable cartoon-based kicks out there? We certainly think so. Here’s the latest in cute, cuddly and cartoonish sneaks. More »

Walk A Mile In Her Heels: Can a Sneaker Gal Make the Leap?

Walk A Mile In Her Heels: Can a Sneaker Gal Make the Leap?

There are girls that can pull off the heels look: you know, the chicks who you’ve seen so little times that you start to imagine that maybe they sleep with Jimmy Choos on. Then there are chicks like us, who stand in proud defense of their sneaks, and whose every attempt at tottering in high heels ends up disastrously.
But there has to be a middle ground: That’s why Crushable’s started “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes,” a program designed to test out pumps from all different brands (who have all graciously provided tester heels for the experiment) to determine which are the most user-friendly to novices like us. More »

Gallery: Gabriel Dishaw's Circuit Board Sneaker Art

Gabriel Dishaw‘s a junk artist in Indiana who creates sculptures out of found materials. For the past few years he’s been working on a series of Nike shoes made out of things like scrap metal, computer chips and typewriter parts. Is it art? Fashion? The future of footwear? This gallery of sneaker sculptures gives new meaning to the term “wearable art.” More »

In Defense Of Sneakers

In Defense Of Sneakers

Earlier this week, Crushable’s Drew and I attended an event for the cigar brand Cohiba on the roof of fancypants NY hotel/club Soho House. It was a quite the to-do — the hors d’oeuvres circulated, elaborate Hennessey drinks flowed, and a cute old Cuban man hand-rolled cigars. Drew and I were both wearing sneakers. We were the only women wearing sneakers.

Confession: I own only one pair of heels and I’ve worn them a grand total of three times. Occasionally I’ll put on a pair of boots, but more often than not I’m wearing oxfords, flats or one of my many pairs of sneakers. That night at Soho House I was sporting saddle shoe-inspired plimsolls over a pair of tights. Drew had on a pair of high top Reeboks in bright, almost neon colors. The rooftop was heated, so we grabbed our cognac cocktails and lounged on a comfy chaise by the pool, trying to figure out which end of our freshly rolled cigar to light. (The rounded one!) Almost immediately a cute dude in a baseball cap leaned over and exclaimed: “Look at you guys in your cool sneakers.”

Our sister site The Gloss posted a photo the other day of these white Adidas that gave a new meaning to the phrase “wing-tipped.” But then we found the same shoes in what we are praying is hypercolor, and were like “Whoa.” More »

A Tomboy’s Guide To Summer Style

A Tomboy's Guide To Summer Style

Okay, so I might not be the most stylish person. Actually, I know I’m not. I’m OK with it and besides, I do in fact know some of the most stylish people ever (Elizabeth Spiridakis from White Lightning, Chloe Sevigny, and Jen Brill…) so being the lazy person I am, I just let their style sort of rub off on me and I try to absorb it by osmosis. There are things I’ve picked up on through the years that… More »

Look for Less: Ashley Olsen in Manhattan

Look for Less: Ashley Olsen in Manhattan

Ashley Olsen went for a completely casual look earlier this week, when she was running errands in Manhattan. While I’m not the biggest fan of this look, some tailoring could make it a winner.

Here’s how you can get the look for less!

Satin pants are super comfy. To match Ashley’s, I like the Drapy Satin-Trim Pant from Armani Exchange (middle top, $29.00). Pair it with a simple grey tank, like the H81 Relaxed-Fit Knit Tank from Forever 21 (right top, $7.80),… More »

Ashley Olsen in Manhattan

Ashley Olsen in Manhattan

Ashley Olsen was spotted running around Manhattan yesterday afternoon. She was all business in blue sneakers, oversized white pants and an oversized blazer. She barely noticed the paparazzi as she walked through Central Park, texting the whole way.

Ashley’s style has been very hit and miss lately, hasn’t it? It still has that simple, androgynous feel she’s developed over the past few years, but overall, it’s become messier and more shapeless. If she was wearing a more fitted jacket and some… More »
