After only two episodes of auditions, So You Think You Can Dance’s seventh season has already reached the second round in Las Vegas. Is it just us or is this new season moving along at a record pace? Hey, we’re not complaining — bring on the competition!
After a brief look at the lackluster auditions in Dallas and Nashville, last night’s episode shifted gears quickly to Vegas week. And we finally heard about the new rule changes and briefly met the… More »
For the second episode of So You Think You Can Dance’s seventh season, the auditions moved to Los Angeles and Chicago, after hitting New York and Miami last week.
First stop, L.A., where the show has found lots of talent in past seasons, including this season’s All Star Dominic Sandoval. Judges Nigel Lythgoe, Adam Shankman and hip hop choreographer Hi Hat managed to find some talent there, although mostly women were highlighted — like rhythmic gymnast Rachel Girma and Mia Michaels… More »
So You Think You Can Dance choreographer pleads not guilty — Alex da Silva pled not guilty to charges of rape in an L.A. court today. He faces eight felony charges, including four counts of forcible rape, two counts of assault with intent to commit rape and two counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object for assaults to dancers who met him through his dance classes. It’s back! After much gossip during the off-season, So You Think You Can Dance returned to the airwaves last night starting, as always, with a couple rounds of auditions, with the lucky few getting tickets to the next round in Las Vegas. (There was no mention of the new rule changes though.)
Although the auditions are never my favorite part of the show, they sometimes shine a spotlight on a contestant who might make it all the way and become… More »
Our favorite characters from Glee, Fringe, American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance were among the celebrants at Fox’s upfront afterparty in New York City last night. The network’s vets also rubbed shoulders with the stars of upcoming Fox series, like Friday Night Light’s Adrienne Palicki, who is starring in Texas-based drama Lonestar with Eloise Mumford and James Wolk.
Check out our gallery of all the happy partygoers.

There’s been a lot of changes announced for the upcoming season of So You Think You Can Dance, including only having a top 10 in the finals, bringing back “All Stars” from previous seasons to pair up with competitors and voting off only one person per week.

All week, executive producer Nigel Lythgoe has been breathlessly announcing the So You Think You Can Dance alums who will be making up the “All Star Pool” of dancers for the upcoming season of the show. Yesterday exec producer Nigel Lythgoe revealed many changes coming to So You Think You Can Dance’s upcoming season. Namely, there’s the addition of a pool of “All Stars” from previous seasons. Nigel promised to reveal the all stars one by one on his Twitter feed.
And he followed through — announcing today that the first all star will be Twitch, the pop-and-locking, krumping, hip-hop dancer from Season 4. Although we loved Twitch when he danced in his own style (like to… More »
Producer Nigel Lythgoe took a moment today to explain all the changes he’s been revealing on his Twitter feed since last week, and it seems to us that season 7 of So You Think You Can Dance is going to be barely recognizable.
Nigel already told us there won’t be a top 20. Instead, the judges will pick 10 contestants — 5 men and 5 women — to compete for America’s votes. The top 10 will be paired up with a… More »

Keeping true to his promise, So You Think You Can Dance producer Nigel Lythgoe has revealed two more rule changes for the upcoming season — and they are shocking. Nigel’s changes are throwing everything that we know to be true about SYTYCD out. It’s going to be a completely different show.
Nigel already revealed that only one person will be eliminated per week, as opposed to two, which is the way it has been done for the past six seasons. Now… More »
I abandoned American Idol a few years ago after falling in love with its addictive cousin, dance reality competition show So You Think You Can Dance, which pairs super-talented male and female dancers and makes them perform everything from disco to smooth waltz. But now that the show is heading in to its seventh season — hot on the heels of two meh back-to-back seasons — producer Nigel Lythgoe, who also produces Idol, is introducing some new rules. Will they… More »
