One of the best things to come out of Austin, TX, Spoon has just released a new album called Transference. It is quite good. I’ve only heard it a few times and I already have songs stuck in my head.

Last summer, Japanese geniuses the Boredoms joined together with 77 drummers under the Brookyln Bridge to play a 77-minute composition. I wasn’t there, but I heard it was amazing and this year they’re doing it again. This time it’s on the Williamsburg waterfront, will be on August 8, 2008 (8/8/08) at 8:08 p.m., and will be 88 minutes long and it’s called–guess what–88BoaDrum.

The truth is, I don’t buy CDs all that often, but when I do I definitely have my favorite shops:

1. Academy Records at 12 W. 18th St. between 5th and 6th Ave.
