Spoon Playing Mercury Lounge Tonight
One of the best things to come out of Austin, TX, Spoon has just released a new album called Transference. It is quite good. I’ve only heard it a few times and I already have songs stuck in my head.

Beautiful songstress Marissa Nadler is playing the last free show and the last show ever at the lounge at Sound Fix Records in Williamsburg. She will be there this Saturday, February 28.

After “Anonymous” posted “soundfix closing at the end of FEB???? true or rumor??” in the comments yesterday, I investigated, and sadly one person that would know did get back to me with a simple “True”. Free Williamsburg called Sound Fix “and they confirmed that they were indeed shutting down, ‘just the bar,’”

Last summer, Japanese geniuses the Boredoms joined together with 77 drummers under the Brookyln Bridge to play a 77-minute composition. I wasn’t there, but I heard it was amazing and this year they’re doing it again. This time it’s on the Williamsburg waterfront, will be on August 8, 2008 (8/8/08) at 8:08 p.m., and will be 88 minutes long and it’s called–guess what–88BoaDrum.

My Favorite CD Stores in NYC
The truth is, I don’t buy CDs all that often, but when I do I definitely have my favorite shops:
1. Academy Records at 12 W. 18th St. between 5th and 6th Ave.
