How Typecasting Can Ruin a TV Show for Fans
Columnist Andy Greenwald’s piece “The HBO Actor Recycling Program” is funny, especially when you look at the chart detailing the 66 actors who have had at least 3 major parts on an HBO program since 1997′s Oz, but it also introduces a troubling idea: When actors get typecast, it diminishes the viewing experience for us viewers because we often can predict the twists and reveals related to their new characters.

Crushable’s ‘One Tree Hill’ Season 9 Predictions
The CW decided to reward its mainstay One Tree Hill — usually on the bubble each season, the show performed well this year — with a renewal for season 9. Mark Schwahn‘s bizarre soap gets only 13 episodes, which will start airing in January 2012. That’s a pretty good indicator that this will be OTH‘s final season. More »

Ohio native Freddie Smith turned to acting when he broke his hand in high school. A lifelong basketball and baseball player, he swiftly changed tacks by getting a job at McDonald’s and working for a year so that he’d be able to save up enough to move to Los Angeles. Prom King and Queen Is a Non-Issue for ’90210′
When Glee extra Nicole Crowther spoiled the identity of the prom king and queen on Twitter a few weeks ago, producer Brad Falchuk (and, we might imagine, Fox) was livid. In contrast, The CW was happy to reveal ahead of time who made prom king and queen for next week’s episode of 90210.
In the above promo pic, Naomi (Anna-Lynn McCord), sporting a sparkly tiara, places an equally regal crown on Teddy’s (Trevor Donovan)’s head. I think it’s safe to assume what’s going on here. More »

Reality Steve is not a man who takes ending up on the cutting room floor lightly. The reality tv blogger filmed some commentary for an E! Bachelor special earlier this year, but was cut from the final version. And this week, as retribution, he has proceeded to give away just about everything that happens on the upcoming season of The Bachelor. Even though it will be weeks before the show actually premieres.

Quick, ‘Gossip Girl’ Filming At The Standard Hotel
Scuttle your butts over to the Meatpacking District, where Gossip Girl is currently filming a “main scene” for season 4, according to our source. They’ve been filming all day, and apparently all of last night as well, so you know they’re going to have to wrap up soon. Or maybe not…maybe that’s where Blair has decided to drown her sorrows after Paris, and they’ll be shooting at the Washington Street location all week. But we hiiighly doubt it, so vamanos, amigos!!
