Lots of good stuff on sale today, including all of the shows for Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series, which will host Marianne Faithfull, St. Vincent, Dirty Projectors, and many others. Good Old War and Cast Spells (solo project of Dave Davison of Maps & Atlases), are releasing a split EP on Sargeant Records for their December tour and their show at the Knitting Factory is definitely one to see.

Talib Kweli Playing Brooklyn Bowl

The inimitable Talib Kweli will be at Williamsburg’s bowling alley/concert venue, Brooklyn Bowl. I finally got a chance to see Brooklyn Bowl when I stopped by the DFA party during CMJ and let me tell you that place is way cool. It has a great lounge/bar area with awesome food from Blue Ribbon, a huge dance floor and stage area, and of course, a full-fledged bowling alley! Record Store Day is April 18
Record Store Day is a nationwide event created to support independently owned record stores. It happens on Saturday, April 18, 2009 this year. Naturally, NYC indie record shops are all celebrating. A list of participating stores is here. Some labels are releasing limited edition records that will be on sale that day. And of course, there will be live music as well, including Bouncing Souls, Bill Callahan, Jill Sobule, and Talib Kweli, to name a few.
