Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM)’s Sounds Like Brooklyn Festival has been a big hit the past two years, with performers like Beirut and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. This year’s lineup includes Les Savvy Fav with openers Vivian Girls (January 29) Rain Machine with openers Anti-Pop Consortium (January 30), Ra Ra Riot with openers The Antlers (February 5). CMJ, the awesome New York City festival a la Austin’s South by Southwest, is coming up next week, from Tuesday, October 20 to Saturday, October 24! To continue on my review of the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago last weekend (see first installment here), I will now give a review of Saturday. Of course, I did not see everything as that is impossible, but here’s what I did see:

The Antlers have come a long way. New Yorkers that have been working the club scene for a while and releasing their own albums, they are finally getting some recognition. Frenchkiss is re-releasing their latest album, Hospice, on August 18, but you can stream it now here. Their music is beautiful and sad and did I mention beautiful? The critics have been raving, and Pitchfork gave their song “Bear” an 8.0.

Ambient music experts The Antlers, which is mostly Peter Silberman, will be playing a show tonight at the Knitting Factory with The Lisps and Spanish Prisoners. Then, next Friday, February 8, they will be at Pianos with Bridges and Powerlines and Square Wave Punch.
Additionally, it seems they will be playing a 3-week residency at Club Midway in April.
