Shows at The Whitney
The Whitney Museum of Art will be hosting a Dan Graham retrospective (Dan Graham: Beyond) from June 24 to October 11. Some background on Dan Graham from the press release:

New New Year’s Eve Shows

Aside from all of the previously mentioned New Year’s Eve shows, some late night ones have been added.
Amanda Palmer & The Danger Ensemble will be playing a 2 a.m. show at the Bowery Ballroom (after Patti Smith). Tickets go on sale Friday at noon.
Mr. Brownstone (GNR cover band) will be playing at 2 a.m. at Mercury Lounge (after A Place to Bury Strangers). Tickets are on sale.

While many people are going away, including me (I’m hitting up the Jazz Festival in Montreal!), there is tons going on in NYC for your listening pleasure:

Getting into Sonic Youth
Sonic Youth and the reunited Feelies are playing a free show on July 4 as part of the River to River Festival in Battery Park. BUT, you can’t just waltz in; you need a ticket. And how to get said ticket? On June 12 at noon, hop onto the River to River website to make a reservation for tickets (2 is the max). So many venues host (mostly) free shows in the summertime, it’s hard to keep up. There’s McCarren Pool, Central Park, and Prospect Park. But then there’s also Castle Clinton in Battery Park, the Winter Garden at the World Financial Center, and the South Street Seaport.
