Crush Links: Heidi Montag Files For Divorce

Getting paid to hang out at the hottest clubs with celebrities whose numbers are now in my Crackberry is the best thing ever. The only downsides are I sleep with my Crackberry on my pillow (in case Michael Lohan texts) AND I’m borderline addicted to Adderall. Sometimes I rub a little coke on my gums just to stay awake because the nights are SO LONG. My hours are, like, 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., and then I’m supposed to go home and file. But it’s hard to write about my friends, you know? Which is why I have a pseudonym (hahaha).

The funny thing is, my job started last weekend. Michael has been so great – he email intro-ed me with Jon Gosselin and I’m trying to get to Lindsay, who’s in jailsies. Meanwhile, that slore Kate Major is so hein. She heard about me and tried to Facebook friend me and I was like, no. OH. So, right now, I’m posting at an Internet cafe outside the Jersey Shore house, where I’m currently staking out “the situation” – ha! The third season is ON and my editor tells me Pauly D and The Situation aren’t getting along because his ego is too big. I’m like, he’s the Situation – his ego SHOULD be big. If Mike – the Situation, not Lohan! – ever hit on me, I’m not gonna exactly complain. I feel like Mike gets all in his head and loner-y because he is sensitive underneath all the fame and ab action. He needs a real girlfriend, because Snooki and JWOWW have their own things going on, like getting New York Times profiles and endorsing anti-aging skincare lines.

My assignment is to report – blah blah blah, my editor got me a tape recorder, I ’should use it,’ blah blah blah – and dig up some info on the the new girl castmate. BUT my goal is to get close to The Situation and maybe … something more. I always wanted to be on a reality show, even like a minimal part (a la Frankie Delgado on The Hills). Or like those chicks from Downtown Girls, who are so spot-on with the dating scene here in NYC. I haven’t quite figured it out but I want to date a celebrity until I do. My editor seems OK with this, as long as I file at the end of the day.

My friend told me Amy Robach from the Today show said aloud, “I want to date a celebrity.” So she went out and met Andrew Shue, who became her husband. Another friend dated Josh Groban, who was so into her but she wasn’t as into him. If I had the chance to date Josh Groban, I would. And he would sing at our wedding reception, which would be featured in In Style and one of those wedding shows on TLC. Not Bridezillas.

So this weekend I’m hitting up some parties in the Hamptons – I’m on Scott-and-Kourtney watch – and partake of the open bars and the booooooooys. In the meantime, I’ll keep you posted on what happens with The Situation.

Robin Sparkles: I Love The Celebrity Nightlife!

The contract dispute rages between MTV and the Guidos and Guidettes of the Jersey Shore. The first footage of season three was to begin filming today, but some members of the cast are holding out for bigger paychecks.

A source close to the cast tells Crushable “nobody really knows” how things will proceed, but they do want to participate in the third season. It’s just that many housemates can make more money doing promotional appearances than they would filming the runaway hit MTV reality show. The source says MTV feels a “vested” ownership over the castmates, and will not allow the cast to make potentially lucrative cameos at clubs at parties while production on the show is in session.

The source says the network wanted the cast to continue on with the same contract they signed for the second season, which taped this past spring and is slated to premiere July 29. (A representative for MTV did not immediately respond to requests for comment.)

“They’re like, ‘We negotiated for season two – why wouldn’t we do that for season three?’” says the source, relaying the cast reaction.

Filming on the Shore for season three would last a period of two months, and that could translate into thousands of dollars lost making photo ops and capitalizing on their tremendous fame. Meanwhile, the crew sits waiting, TMZ reports.

“Some are holding out, some are broken off,” says the source, adding that The Situation is in talks to get a book deal.

At the moment, the cast nets between $10,000-$20,000 per promotional appearance (typically they show up at events and mingle with fans). Pauly D makes up to $20,000 for his DJ sets, while Vinny, Ronnie and JWOWW are at the lowest end of the totem pole, charging $10K per appearance. Each cast member makes $10,000 per episode of Jersey Shore, so counting in 12 episodes of the upcoming second season (which airs July 29), they’re making some $120,000 each in total.

“The Hills cast made $100,000 per episode, and they’ve blown The Hills out of the water” in the ratings, the source says.

Source: 'Jersey Shore' Cast On Strike, Wants MTV To Pay Up

Last night, The Hills series finale poked an elbow into the idea that it’s all one big, fake scripted show and not the reality show it portends to be. As Kristin Cavallari had a tearful goodbye with on-again off-again flame Brody Jenner, got into a car and drove away, the backdrop behind Brody was pulled away to reveal a studio backlot. Were the whole six seasons of the show a sham?

Of course, we know that in some respects the show was real. We saw the lives of the cast members play out in the tabloids, although that celebrity pressure, the magazine covers and the red carpets never made it into the world of The Hills. To watch the show you would never know there was a pack of paparazzi following Lauren Conrad and Audrina Patridge’s every move. And you would think that Heidi Montag was just some misguided publicist toiling away for Brent Bolthouse daily, not going to photoshoots and working on her record with hubby Spencer Pratt all day long.

Here’s what’s real: the feud between Heidi and Lauren, the sex tape rumors and all the plastic surgery. But what’s fake exactly? We’ll never know. Did Lauren and Whitney Port really earn their internships at Teen Vogue? Was Lauren really offered a chance to go to Paris for the summer that she turned down for then-boyfriend Jason Wahler? Were all those fights between Heidi and Spencer staged? (Probably) We know Kristin’s return to the show was orchestrated by producers, but what about her relationship with Audrina’s ex Justin Bobby? Or Brody? She’s now dating someone completely new, so who knows the truth.

All we can say for sure is that it was entertaining — although sometimes more than others. The Hills may have played with our perception of “reality” but we happily tuned in for six long seasons, even after the whole Heidi story line became a joke and we never got to see Lauren do any of the real work on her fashion line or books. We’re not sad to see it go, but we’re glad it existed, if nothing else than to stand as an example of that fuzzy line between reality TV and real life.

Fame By Numbers: A Brief, Twisted History Of 'The Hills'

Movies: Can’t wait until Friday for a new movie release? Check out the mid-week debut of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice on Wednesday. This Disney live action film based on a short from the cartoon Fantasia stars Nicolas Cage, Jay Baruchel and Alfred Molina (as the bad sorcerer, of course). It looks like one part Harry Potter, one part Enchanted — what could be wrong with that?

And Friday, The Dark Knight’s Christopher Nolan is back with his latest mind-bending thriller, Inception, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Ellen Page. Leo can invade people’s dreams to steal information, but where do dreams end and reality begin? What is left when even dreams can be invaded?

TV: It’s premiere week on USA, with the second season debut of White Collar, starring Matt Bomer and Tim DeKay, and the premiere of new series Covert Affairs with Coyote Ugly’s Piper Perabo and Ugly Betty’s Christopher Gorham on Tuesday. On Monday, catch the newest (and only?) female detective buddy show Rizzoli & Isles on TNT, starring Law & Order’s Angie Harmon playing a detective and Mission Impossible III’s Sasha Alexander as her buddy, a medical examiner, which premieres after a new season of The Closer.

And you better believe we’ll be watching as The Hills’s season finale airs Tuesday night on MTV. What we’re ready to see: Kristin Cavallari and Brody Jenner finally part ways, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt finally have no real reason to be famous (though we’re sure they’ll think of something new soon) and even Lauren Conrad returns for the aftershow.

Music: Controversial rapper M.I.A.’s much-anticipated, confusingly named new album, /\/\ /\ Y /\ (aka Maya), drops Tuesday, just a few weeks after a New York Times profile pushed the star to tweet out a writer’s phone number. Also out on Tuesday, a new album full of standards and cabaret tunes from 30 Rock’s Jane Krakowski.
