MOVIES:

After what seems like an interminable wait, Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland comes out on Friday. The saturated colors, barely recognizable stars, and moody music we’ve seen in the trailers and TV spots look promising, and Crushable fav Mia Wasikowska gets her star turn in what early reviews are saying is a fantastic performance. Plus, we’d see anything with Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, and Helena Bonham Carter.

MUSIC:

Hands, the full-length album from British electro-pop singer Little Boots, finally gets a U.S. release on Tuesday. You might recognize Little Boots from relentless pimping on various music blogs (and PerezHilton.com) over the past year, or from her badass cover of Hot Chip’s “Ready for the Floor” using a strange little electronic instrument called a Tenori-on. Her electro-pop sound is a little like Lily Allen mixed with Kylie Minogue — very dance-y and very fun. She embarks on a U.S. tour tomorrow.

TV:

We love the Olympics and all, but after two weeks of sporting events we’re happy to get our favorite shows back. This week’s episode of The Office is a doozy: Jim and Pam finally have their Beesly-Halpert baby. We wonder two things: 1) what sex will it be, and 2) will it come out of the womb with Jim’s floppy hair in tact, or is that something that takes a while to grow? Either way, Mazel Tov to our favorite fictional married couple.

Another eagerly awaited episode of television: NBC’s Parenthood debuts on Tuesday. Star-studded and surrounded by misfortune — the show was postponed until midseason so original star Maura Tierney could get breast cancer treatment, but she eventually dropped out and was replaced by Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham — the show looks like a promising new dramedy. Like Modern Family, but a little less comical.

Last but not least, watch the dramz unfold TONIGHT on The Bachelor: Will Jake choose sugar (Tenley) or spice (Vienna). Our money’s on Vienna! We’ll be covering this momentous occasion, which should be better than the American Idol finale and the Oscars rolled into one.

DVD:

Where the Wild Things Are was a polarizing movie — something you’ll get whenever you re-imagine a childhood classic — but Crushable landed firmly in the “totally loved it” camp. Spike Jonze + Karen O + an adorable little boy = a fantastic movie-going experience. Rent it if you’re in the mood for a totally immersive cinematic event. On the other hand, if you’re just in the mood to see shit get destroyed, check out the end of the world in 2012.

Looks like Jessica Alba is about to hit the small screen! Jessica is scheduled to appear in a super-sized, post Super Bowl episode of NBC’s The Office alongside funnyman Jack Black.

According to Michael Ausiello, Jessica will be joining Jack in a bootlegged movie the Dunder Mifflin staff try to watch during the workday.

It already sounds like opportunity for hilarity!
