Peter Gabriel is playing two shows at Radio City Music Hall on May 2 and 3. Ticket prices start at $54.50 and go all the way up to $199.50 and are on sale now. His new album, out in the US on March 2, and called Scratch My Back, is all covers, and includes his versions of “Heroes” by David Bowie, “Après moi” by Regina Spektor, and “My Body is a Cage” by Arcade Fire. Pool Parties to Continue, Another Summer Park Show Announced
As many of you know, the infamous JellyNYC summer Pool Parties were yet again in danger of not happening. Last summer the mostly free concert series were in danger of being discontinued after the venue they had been taking place for 3 years, McCarren Park Pool, was going to be under going construction to become a functioning pool again. Hot Chip Playing Free Myspace Show
In addition to their shows at Music Hall of Williamsburg (February 6) and Terminal 5 (April 22 & 23), if you prefer standing on line to buying tickets, you can see Hot Chip on Friday, February 5 at the Highline Ballroom for a free Myspace show. Retribution Gospel Choir Brings the Rock to NYC
Alan Sparhawk of Low has released a new album with his other band, Retribution Gospel Choir, called 2, on Sub Pop. I interviewed Alan a few weeks ago about the album, and now the Duluth, Minnesota-based group is on tour. They played Mercury Lounge last night, and boy did they rock the house.

Beach House Celebrated “Teen Dream” at The Bell House
Baltimore group Beach House released their third album, Teen Dream, (first on Sub Pop) this week and celebrated with a show at The Bell House in Brooklyn.
Singer/organ player Victoria Legrand and guitarist Alex Scally were joined by a drummer, who added a lot to the show. They played mostly from the new album, which is wonderful. First Celebrate Brooklyn Show Announced: Passion Pit
Even though it’s freezing, concert promoters are already gearing up for summer shows. The first of the summer park shows has been announced: Passion Pit will be playing a Celebrate Brooklyn benefit (read: it’s not free) at Prospect Park on June 29. Tokyo Police Club are “very special guests.”

Spoon Playing Mercury Lounge Tonight
One of the best things to come out of Austin, TX, Spoon has just released a new album called Transference. It is quite good. I’ve only heard it a few times and I already have songs stuck in my head.

It’s Friday so that means tickets are going on sale! Lots of bands have new albums coming out, so that means they are going on tour: Kings of Convenience, Midlake, Yoko Ono’s We Are Plastic Ono Band, Spoon, Shearwater, The Thermals, and many more. Interview: Low and Retribution Gospel Choir’s Alan Sparhawk
Retribution Gospel Choir, one of two bands helmed by Alan Sparhawk (the other is Low) has a new album coming out on Sub Pop on January 26, called simply 2 (this is their second album in case you didn’t pick up on that. New York Guitar Festival
In addition to the upcoming Winter Jazzfest, New York is also hosting the Guitar Festival starting this weekend and continuing through February (January 8-February 4). You can see the full schedule here, but below are some highlights, including shows from the awesome series Silent Films/Live Guitars. Winter Jazzfest
The 2010 Winter Jazzfest is happening on January 8-9 (Friday and Saturday).
It’s going down at various West Village bars (Kenny’s Castaways, (le) Poisson Rouge, Bitter End, Zinc Bar, and Sullivan Hall). Tickets are $25 for a one-day pass and $30 for a two-day pass. The full lineup is after the jump.
