New Year’s Eve in New York City–Musically

Patti Smith is at Bowery Ballroom (sold out).
Chuck Berry is at B.B. Kings at 8 pm and 11 pm.Tickets are $98.
Mariah Carey is at Madison Square Garden. Tickets starts at $20.10 and go way up from there.

Brooklyn Knitting Factory Opening, Les Savy Fav Playing

The Knitting Factory had been a fixture of downtown New York for decades until it closed last year. After much delay, it is finally reopening in Brooklyn, at 361 Metropolitan Ave. in Williamsburg to be exact.
To celebrate their grand opening tomorrow (Wednesday September 9), Les Savy Fav will be playing. It’s all sold out (probably to industry insiders), but the bar will still be open to the public.

The Wrens at Bowery Ballroom

NY Times Reports on McCarren; Yo La Tengo Playing Last Free Show
The New York Times has an article about the future of McCarren Park Pool…and how it seems like it will be turned back into a pool. Supposedly constructions starts this fall and they hope to open it for summer 2011. So, get your kicks in now.
