According to Today’s report, many large retailers and department stores, including Macy’s, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Saks, Victoria’s Secret, Gap, Express and J. Crew, accept returns of (seemingly) used underwear and bathing suits, then put it back on the shelves — even if they are visibly stained! Ewwww. To prove their theory, the show bought underwear and bathing suits from the stores, removed their tags and hygienic linings, marked their tags and then returned them. They even stained some with baby oil, just to prove their point. All of the stores accepted the merchandise, with some just returning them straight to the floor immediately, while hidden cameras caught them in the act.

Let’s just get one thing clear: this. report. is. disturbing. And completely gross. Apparently, it’s not illegal to resell used underwear, so as a consumer just be careful. Shop at reputable shops, check out your undies before you buy and always wash before you wear.

Now the real question: who are the culprits that return dirty panties and bathing suits? Have you ever done it?

A scruffy looking Rob told Matt he felt funny being interviewed about something other than the Twilight saga. “I had all my pat answers, I found them very, very easy. And now…I’m just treading water in every interview,” he said.

Rob also talked about his role in Remember Me, in which he plays Tyler, a young man dealing with love and loss, who he compared to Rebel Without A Cause. He also discussed his sudden and intense Twilight-related fame and Eclipse, due in theaters this summer. “I haven’t seen it yet,” Rob admitted. About the Twilight movies, he added: “They’re great fun to work on and people really like them. I could do them for a while longer, I just don’t think I’m going to look 17 for much longer.”

As I promised earlier, I was able to find a video clip of Brad Pitt talking to Ann Curry on the Today Show. It was indeed previously taped, most likely during thetime that he was in New Orleans with the boys last week.

In the clip, Brad and Ann are sitting in one of the Make It Right homes that has recently been made available to a Lower Ninth Ward resident who was finally able to move back. It was so great to see. They also talked architecture and the newer project where they’re building duplexes to provide two homes in one for people.

It was interesting to hear Brad mentioning that right now, with the way the homes are being built and designed, that part of New Orleans is the greenest neighborhood in the United States. He then went on to say that they’ll have 150 houses built by next year BUT that about 4000 homes were lost in Hurricane Katrina so they’re “just scratching the surface”.

The good news, according to Brad is that they already have families moving in and these people are now getting utility bills running at $20 a month, and electric bills at $12 a month because of the green nature of the homes. That’s great to hear.

Never one to shy away from anything, Ann Curry asked Brad if he had seen the “Brad Pitt for Mayor” t-shirts”. Indeed he had, and seemed amused by them. She asked if he would run for mayor if he was chosen as a candidate. Brad smiled and said yes – he joked, “I’m running on the gay marriage, no religion, legalization and taxation of marijuana platform. I don’t have a chance!” All kidding aside he said, no he wouldn’t because that isn’t what he does best.

Ann also brings up his Parade interview, reading aloud the part where Brad said, “Do you know how you tell real love? It’s when someone else’s interest trumps your own. I like to put it that way: trumps your own. Love of somebody else—of family, of your kids—becomes the most important, most worthwhile thing in your life. It’s what you foster and protect.” Ann said that particularly affected her and Brad told her he stands by what he said.

He said that he stands by it because that love won’t always be there, and he doesn’t look forward to that day. It’s easy to misinterpret that as something negative, that he’s assuming the relationship won’t last, but he’s also talking about the kids. I think he means in the sense that one day the kids will grow up and move out and have their own lives. And I think he means that one day either he will pass away or Angelina will, and it’s morbid but he has also said before that it was so difficult to watch Angelina losing her mother and that he had never gone through that type of situation before. He’s said that it opened his eyes to a lot and that’s what I feel he meant by the fact that one day the love won’t be there anymore. It all fits into his concept that you need to live your life to its fullest.

I really enjoyed the interview, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

(Thanks for the link Gabriella!)

Angelina Jolie has been very busy making the world aware of World Refugee Day (which is tomorrow, June 20th). This morning the Today show aired an interview that Ann Curry did with Angelina Jolie yesterday.

It was yet another wonderful interview bringing important facts about refugee to light. They even spoke of one of Angelina’s first UNHCR missions to Pakistan in 2001. She talked about how, as a mother, she wants to make sure she has enough snacks for her kids on long drives so that they won’t be hungry and yet she had met with mothers who sometimes have absolutely no food at all to offer to their children for days at a time and how that must be one of the most difficult things in the world for a parent to go through.

I also liked Angelina’s response when Ann said that sometimes Americans don’t feel like they care about refugees because American lives are being lost in those same areas in wars, so what makes Angie care so much. Her reply was that she cares and others should too because those refugees are fighting (or fleeing) the same extremists that the U.S. is fighting – in other words the troops and the refugees are allies (and I’d like to add with the main difference being that the refugees aren’t able to defend themselves as much).

Angelina added that the point is not to simply feel pity for refugees but to help them to get to a point where they can rely on themselves because they are such strong, smart people. They are the future there.

Much like in the Anderson Cooper interview last night, Angelina said that it is her intention to take her children to these camps to help them to understand how fortunate they are and how important compassion and aid is. Ann brought up the fact that Angelina has already taken Maddox to some of the camps – what an experience. Angie said that she wants her kids to be raised with a more accurate view of the world than she was – and indeed, most of us were – so that they can grow up to be better people than they would be if they were sheltered. She even said if she had understood the problems of the world better at a younger age, she probably would have gotten through her own youth better and would have been less self-destructive.

Every time I hear Angelina Jolie speak about refugees I feel so inspired. Don’t you?

In related news, I left this link in the post about Anderson Cooper but I want to bring it here too. If you’re interested in learning more, the UNHCR is running live streaming today and tomorrow from various refugee camps. You can watch and get even more educated on life in their world by clicking over here.
