Happy almost Valentine’s Day! If you haven’t decided yet what you’re going to give the love in your life, you might want to get a moving on that because time is running out. Snap to it!

Just like everyone else, celebrities are big into Valentine’s Day, too. Obviously, we need one day a year to exhibit how much we love someone, because if we didn’t have it, then we’d never tell them, right?

Although the day after the fact we’ll probably hear all about the over-the-top gifts that celebrity couples gave each other this year, it’s always fun to beat them to the punch and do the gift selecting for them. There’s nothing better than playing pretend no matter what your age.

Connor Cruise Is A Foul-Mouthed Brat — Courtesy Of His Ex-Publicist

It’s not unusual for a 17-year-old to write bitchy, profanity-laden text messages… but a famous 17-year-old might want to think twice about who he sends those texts to. Connor Cruise – son of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman – got pissy with his ex-publicist over the Giants‘ Super Bowl win, and of course the guy turned around and published Connor’s texts.

After the Patriots lost, Todd Krim tweeted, Sorry @TheConnorCruise maybe next year!!! Seems like playful ribbing, right? Not to uber-sensitive Connor, who sent Todd a furious text. Thankfully, Todd shared that text, and the following correspondence, with the New York Post‘s Page Six:

Connor: That was a gay ass [bleeping] tweet… U don’t say [bleep] like that about my team the second they lose. Low.

Todd: Umm ok… Dude I was [bleeping] joking.

Connor: That was [bleep]ed… Idgaf.

Yes, he used the little-known acronym for “I don’t give a fuck.” Teenage drama is so intense!

What’s bizarre is that after the Patriots’ loss in the Super Bowl, Connor posted this totally reasonable tweet: Ahh this hurts. But the Giants played a better game and my hat is off to them. Better luck next year #Patriots4Life So maybe he’d been having problems with Todd beforehand. Regardless, Todd announced that he’ll no longer be working with Tom Cruise’s son, despite Connor’s (new) publicist-approved apology:

“What I texted was unacceptable. It is not a reflection of who I am and what I feel, and it certainly won’t happen again.”

However, now Todd’s turned the other cheek, and is even scolding others for drumming up more drama. Today he clarified,

Everyone @theconnorcruise apologized to me for his texts which I accept so the matter is closed as far as I’m concerned. Let’s move on!

And when another user mocked Connor for needing “Daddy’s” protection, Todd added,

@JustinABrenner Justin please drop this subject. I’d really appreciate it.

Guess he doesn’t want to dwell on his (totally awesome) bitchslapping of an entitled celebrity kid.

Tom Cruise originally made John Grisham‘s character Mitch McDeere (from his novel The Firm) come to life on the big screen in 1993. It was the first of several of Grisham’s books that would to be made into a movie, and introduced audiences to just how scary and dangerous it is to be a lawyer–at least in Grisham’s world.

On Sunday January 8th, NBC will start their new series The Firm, but filling Mitch McDeere’s shoes this time around will be Josh Lucas. For those of you who are drawing a blank, among his many rolls, Josh played that smoldering Jake Perry in that semi-awful Reese Witherspoon movie Sweet Home Alabama. So while Lucas isn’t exactly the big name that Tom Cruise is–yet–this doesn’t mean he can’t give Cruise a run for his money as Mitch.

The series picks up after the McDeere family has left witness protection, and Mitch is practicing law again, and yet again he finds himself in another shady law firm where–are you sitting down?–his life is at risk! Drama ensues, there’s a lot of Mitch running around in a suit with his briefcase in hand as his perfect tie flaps in the wind. Sound familiar?

The Rock Of Ages Trailer Has A Little Of Tom Cruise But A Lot Of Celebrities

The first trailer for the musical-to-movie adaptation Rock of Ages is out — at least, until Warner Bros. asks us to take it down — and it proves that if you load your movie with enough rock music, it will sound undeniably epic. That’s probably why I got all psyched for the “We’re Not Gonna Take It”/”We Built This City On Rock and Roll” mash-up. That, or because Catherine Zeta-Jones plays an evangelical lady dedicated to shutting down awesome music club The Bourbon Room.

Did you guys know that there were so many stars attached to this movie? Because I had no idea. Alec Baldwin is almost unrecognizable as club owner Dennis; Bryan Cranston plays the mayor who wants to tear down The Bourbon Room; Malin Akerman is one of the strippers who befriends Julianne Hough‘s character; and Russell Brand plays another rocker. And of course there’s Diego Boneta as fresh-faced star Drew, the heart of the story.

Sure, the trailer leads up to a shirtless and buff Tom Cruise as legendary rocker Stacee Jaxx, but there are a lot of talented stars who appear on-screen before him, who may be what tip us in favor of actually seeing Rock of Ages.

Questionable Choices: Tom Cruise Goes Top-Gun-Chic At The Madrid Ghost Protocol Premiere

There’s something about this leather bomber jacket and turtleneck combo that suggest Tom Cruise‘s Top Gun uniform — but matured, so very matured. To us, what that’s saying is, “I’m an aging action star who prefers smoking a cigar in my Snuggie to jumping out of buildings and running from dangerous criminals.” Which is why the outfit was an odd choice to wear to the Madrid premiere of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

Tom walked the red carpet alongside co-star Paula Patton. In the flick which comes out on December 21st, Tom’s character must hope around places like Russia and Dubai attempting to clear the name of their espionage organization after it’s falsely implicate in a bombing. Hopefully Tom left his slippers at home.

Lest you think that Tom Cruise‘s famous dances in Risky Business and Tropic Thunder are all thanks to editing, at a wedding over the weekend the actor showed that he can still get down. He and Katie Holmes were at the wedding of David Ellison, a producer on Tom’s new movie Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, when one of David’s friends decided to challenge the A-list actor and Scientologist.

Surprisingly, Tom was game and didn’t slip a disc on the dance floor. Despite the general shudders we get when thinking about his fervent Scientology teachings, we have to admit it’s a cute video.

Did ‘The X-Factor’ Intentionally Obscure Stacy Francis’ Past Success As A Singer?

Everyone is talking today about Stacy Francis, the 42-year-old single mother who wowed the judges on The X-Factor last night with her passionate rendition of Aretha Franklin‘s Natural Woman. And rightfully so! She did a great job (even if she was flat at times). However, after doing a bit of research on her, I found out the show was somewhat misleading in presenting her as a struggling single mother who sings only after her kids go to sleep at night. Stacy Francis has already had quite a bit of success in the music business, getting signed to a major label in the nineties and starring in several Broadway and West End (as in, London’s Broadway) musical theater productions. She has yet to attain mega-fame, it’s true, but she’s hardly in danger of dying, as she said last night, “with this music in me.”

In the early nineties, Francis was part of an R&B group called Ex-Girlfriend that was signed to Reprise Records. They put out two albums before disbanding in 1994; their biggest hit was “X Marks The Spot,” which performed well on both the R&B and Billboard Hot 100 singles charts. Since then, Stacy has worked frequently as a singer and actress, appearing in Broadway, West End, and regional theater productions, as well as various movies and TV shows. She booked her first Broadway show in 1997. As recently as a few years ago, she could be seen performing the Jennifer Hudson role in San Diego Musical Theatre‘s production of Dreamgirls.

Additionally, Francis is involved with the Church of Scientology and seems to have made some connections through that. Here’s a video of her performing at Tom Cruise‘s birthday party three years ago:

Discussing Stacy’s recent divorce and current appearance on The X-Factor, members of a messageboard for ex-Scientologists speculated that Scientology played a role in her divorce. (We know it’s recent because she and her husband were still married when their first son was born.) “Looks like her marriage ended, and I cant help but wonder if that is due to the church. I dont think her husband the dentist was all that into Scientology,” writes one person. It wouldn’t be the first marriage Scientology has broken up. Another person admits that Scientology may have helped Stacy gain confidence: “When you think you are an immortal spiritual being with super powers who can bend time and space with your postulates it does give you confidence. And that delusion is probably most helpful for a performer.”

None of this should discredit Stacy’s performance in the competition. If anything, the fact that someone could find steady work as a performer for so many years and still never break through to major label success shows just how hard it is to chase that dream. It also shows that she’s a person who takes initiative and goes after the things she wants, rather than some cowering abused woman held hostage for a decade by her baby daddy, a woman who just happened to miraculously find the strength to enter a singing competition at age 42, at which point an enormous voice came out of her as if by magic. But I guess it pulls on people’s heartstrings more to stick to the imaginary narrative?

On that token, I find it somewhat irresponsible how the show played on stereotypes about black unwed mothers; she refers to her ex-husband as “someone she met” and makes it sound like she’s raising her kids completely on her own. In reality, the man she was married to until recently runs a thriving dental practice and appears to be engaged with his children, at least in this Youtube video of him I found:

Again, he may very well have been a shitty husband who told her she’d never succeed in the music business, but why make it sound worse than it is? I think it does a disservice to Stacy Francis to distort and manipulate her life story in this way when the real story is plenty compelling on its own.

There’s no need to be on edge, Erika Christensen. We’re just as confused as you are about why paparazzi were allowed to come in to the 42nd annual Scientology Center gala in Hollywood last weekend, when usually your faith keeps everything hush-hush. The Daily Mail says that you can thank John Travolta and Kelly Preston for inviting the photogs in.

Anyway, you’re not the only one who looked weirded out; Priscilla Presley had a pretty icy stare for the cameras. And bigwigs like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes didn’t even show up, maybe because they were tipped off that there would be outsiders looking in to your super-secret ceremonies, and things were going to be way awkward.

We’re not saying you look suspicious or anything. It’s just, Jenna Elfman and Juliette Lewis seem pretty relaxed, considering they posed for a ton of photos. And Jason Lee might have a sinister vibe about him, but he cleaned up so nice we’re sufficiently distracted. So maybe your tight smile is just surprise that the inner sanctum has been breached. Unless, of course, you have something to hide…?

I feel like every day I become obsessed with a new Tumblr, and today it’s Suri’s Burn Book. The conceit is that the posts are supposedly written by Suri Cruise as she makes fun of other celebrity kids (and her own parents) who aren’t as fabulous as her. Confession! I had a brief involvement with Cruz Beckham in the summer of 2010. I broke things off when his immaturity became too exhausting, but we’ve been able to remain close friends. I have nothing but happiness for him and the entire Beckham family at the birth of Harper Seven.
