Tyra Banks has launched a competition to find the next top plus-sized model, but it’s not what you think. This competition isn’t a plus-sized only cycle of America’s Next Top Model, but rather an independent contest being run through her talk show and website. The “Fiercely Real Teen Model Search” finalists will appear on the March 2nd episode of her talk show and the winner will be crowned the next day.

I always thought that Tyra’s talk show was her priority and she was en route to become the next Oprah. America’s Next Top Model went downhill once the talk show was launched and it’s shooting schedules were built around Tyra’s talk show schedules. One bonus what that the talk show gave the contestants a platform to discuss personal issues, revel in their wins and reunite to chat about what went down once the cameras stopped rolling.
Now that the talk show… More »
Now that Tyra Banks announced that she will be ending her talk show in the spring of 2010, staff are coming out to reveal what they really think of the former supermodel.
“There had been high turnover of employees for years,” a source told the NY Daily News, adding that it’s “pretty difficult to work for Tyra.”
The source also revealed that Tyra announced the end of her show before she even told the crew.

Today is Tyra Banks 36th birthday. It sounds like she’ll be celebrating her special day filming America’s Next Top Model in New Zealand. It seems pretty fitting, as Tyra works all the time! I hope she and Jon do something for her birthday.
As much as Tyra drives me crazy, I can’t imagine the reality television world and the talk show world without her.

Tyra Banks topped Forbes’ list of primetime female earners, as she raked in over $30 million last year. Tyra walloped the competition, as only one other woman on the list broke the $10 million mark.
Tyra’s multiple projects, including her talk show, America’s Next Top Model, and the money she earned from now-defunft projects like Stylista and True Beauty.
Rounding out the top ten were Katherine Heigl ($18 million); Marg Helgenberger ($9.5 million); Eva Longoria Parker ($9 million); Mariska Hargitay ($8.5 million);… More »
Tyra Banks was interviewed in the October 2009 issue of The Advocate. She talked about her support for gay rights and how it’s a frequent topic on her show, the death of “fierce”, and what it would be like to be Tyra’s best friend.
My favorite part is when she gives advice to contestants on the next season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, should they ever be inspired by Tyra. (There has to be a second season!):

In honor of the season five premiere of The Tyra Banks Show, Tyra hosted the show without her weave. She hasn’t been in public with her real hair since she was nineteen!
I’ll admit, I was in for something great – like she’d be bald or have the Mia Farrow cut she loves giving Top Model girls. In the end, her hair was natural and she was beautiful.
Here’s a brief clip from the show:
What do you think of Tyra going weave-free?… More »

This year, Tyra Banks is promising that The Tyra Banks Show will be bigger and better than ever. One thing that won’t be bigger and better during the season premiere? Tyra’s weave!

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Tyra Banks has signed on to do a guest spot on the CW hit Gossip Girl – and she isn’t playing herself.
Tyra’s character is somehow connected to Hilary Duff’s character. Hilary is doing a multiepisode guest spot as a famous actress who wants a normal college experience and becomes Vanessa’s roommate at NYU.
My guess? Tyra plays Hilary’s overbearing manager or agent or similar.
Tyra has appeared as herself in a few films recently, including Hannah… More »
