Oh Tyra, it’s a good thing you are shutting it down next year, because your latest stunt – going into your audience and pretending you had rabies to the point where you were foaming at the mouth – seems less like a “prank” on the audience as much as just another sign that your crazy eyes aren’t just an act you put on for the cameras. In fact, looking back on some of your past behavior, rabies might actually be a reasonable diagnosis. (We watch a lot of House, so we’re basically medical doctors here.)

Tyra Banks “Apologizes” About Bi-Racial Photo Shoot

This week’s episode of The Tyra Banks Show was all about America’s Next Top Model. The audience was introduced to the final four, Erin, Jen, Laura and Nicole, and the Fan Favorite competition was introduced. Tyra also gave Rachel Echelberger a second chance (Remember – she was eliminated after the Wilhelmina challenge?) by announcing BMG Models wants to sign her.

The biggest moment of the episode came when Tyra attempted to explain the biracial photo shoot from this cycle. She explained her rationale behind the shoot and then apologized to anyone who found it offensive.

I want to be very clear: I, in no way, put my Top Models in blackface. I’m a black woman. I am proud. I love my people and the struggle that we have gone through continues and the last thing that I would ever do is be a part of something that degraded my race.

I’m sorry to anybody that watched ‘Top Model’ and was offended by the pictures because they didn’t understand the real story behind them or even if you did see the whole episode and you were still offended, I truly apologize because that is not my intention. My intention is to spread beauty and break down barriers.

Tyra must have known that this photo shoot would be controversial. Because of this, I find her apology disingenuous. Stand by what you did, or don’t. I still don’t get how changing the color of the girls’ skin celebrates all skin tones and races. Given Tyra’s reasoning for the shoot, a more appropriate photo shoot would be to uncover the contestants’ personal heritage and then style them to celebrate that.

Tyra Banks Hosting a Top Model Toga Party March 4

America’s Next Top Model Cycle 12 premieres this Wednesday at 8pm on the CW, with a special 2-hour episode. To celebrate this, Tyra Banks is hosting a toga party on her talk show that same day!

Paulina Porizkova and J Alexander will be there, along with former ANTMers Analeigh Tipton (Cycle 11), Joslyn Pennywell (Cycle 11), Bre Scullark (Cycle 5), Renee DeWitt (Cycle 8) and more will come celebrate with Tyra and her audience. There will also be a sneak peek at all the drama that will go down in the first episode that very night.

Casting directors from ANTM are also going to randomly choose 5 girls from the audience to come to round two of the Cycle 13 auditions, complete with VIP access to the New York semifinals.

Tyra is also making “the biggest announcement in ANTM history” that day! My guess? She’s announcing that Cycle 13 will be the search for the short model!

Tyra Banks on The Biggest Loser

Tyra Banks and the winner of Project Runway 4, Christian Siriano, made special guest appearances on this week’s episode of The Biggest Loser. The final five contestants were treated to makeovers, courtesy Tyra and her Glam squad. They met with Christian and went shopping at Macy’s for new clothes.

Here’s the video of the contestants appearing on The Tyra Banks Show, which was part of their makeover prizes. The video is a bit low quality (can you hear the instant messaging beeps in the background?) but it’s not too bad.

You can find the rest of the Tyra episode on Youtube. I think this is pretty smart cross-promotion on Tyra’s part. She’s all about self-esteem and confidence and being healthy and that’s what the contestants on The Biggest Loser go on the show for.

Tyra Banks with Robert Pattinson

The stars of Twilight stopped by The Tyra Banks Show last week to talk about their new film and sudden fame. Tyra spent the episode talking in a British accent and even got Robert, who plays Edward the vampire, to bite her neck.

The episode airs November 28, but you can see the biting clip here.

Tyra and Robert also filmed a few scenes on the streets of New York. I’m not exactly sure what they are doing, but they seem to be having a lot of fun. I guess I’ll have to tune in on the 28 to find out.

I haven’t seen Twilight yet, but I want to! Have any of you seen it? What do you think?

Tyra Banks Bitten by Twilight Star

Earlier this week on The Tyra Banks Show, Tyra Banks had the stars of Twilight, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner as guests. Tyra, being Tyra, asked Robert, who plays Edward, to bite her neck. He happily obliged, despite her ridiculous accent.

The episode will air on November 28. I wonder if Tya did the whole show in that accent!

Isis King to Receive Reassignment Surgery

Isis King, the transgendered contestant who appeared on this cycle of America’s Next Top Model is being given the gift of a lifetime-the sex reassignment surgery she so desperately wants, NY Daily News reports.

Tomorrow on The Tyra Banks Show, Isis talks about her issues as a transgendered person and as a model. Dr. Marci Bowers makes an appearance, according to Just Jared, and offers to pay for Isis’s surgey. Rumors are flying that it is Tyra who offered, but according to a rep from the show, that information is false.

Throughout her stint on ANTM, Isis was very open and honest about her situation and frankly admitted the only thing holding her back from the surgery was the cost. Gender reassignment surgery can cost upwards of $300,000.

Video: ANTM Cycle 10 Reunion

This video is a very small part of the America’s Next Top Model Cycle 10 reunion that was held on The Tyra Banks Show on Wednesday. It focuses on winner Whitney Thompson and what she has been up to since the show ended.

The video quickly glosses over every non-Whitney aspect. I really wish I could have seen the whole thing, but this is better than nothing!

Whitney talks about how awesome it is to be a role model and to help people improve their body image. She also talks about her new dog and how she went about adopting him.

The little girl Tyra is holding is Claire‘s daughter. So cute!

Tyra Banks on the Today Show

Tyra Banks made an appearance on the Today show yesterday morning. The look at how Tyra examines skin bleaching in the African-American community and how some people are even putting bleach on their children. Tyra did this as a segment for her talk show and it’s crazy stuff.

Tyra sits in with Today and chats about how Tyra felt when interviewing the boys who get bleached daily, how she tried–and failed–to connect with their mother, how she first discovered this phenomenon and why she decided to put it on her show.

I have to give major kudos to Tyra for recognizing that she is what is socially accepted to be beautiful and that she is lighter skinned. This seems to be a topic she’s researched thoroughly and seems to care quite a bit about.
