There’s some excellent video footage of Angelina Jolie in Thailand on her UNHCR trip available now!
Shot for the UNHCR, Angelina narrates parts of it, informing us of the refugee problem in Thailand right now, including some people who have been living in refugee camps for over twenty years, unable to leave and unable to return home. In between the narration we get to see Angelina sitting with people, talking to them and getting to know their… More »
The UNHCR website is reporting that Angelina Jolie is in Thailand for humanitarian purposes, this time to urge their government to support Myanmar (Burmese) refugees who are currently living in camps in the northern part of the country. She hopes that the Thai government will allow for more freedoms for the refugees:
“I was saddened to meet a 21-year-old woman who was born in a refugee camp, who has never even been out of the camp and is now… More »
Courtesy of the UNHCR, ET Online shared some video footage from Angelina Jolie’s trip to Afghanistan this week.
Narrated by Angelina, it’s a powerful view into the lives of the Afghan refugees. When asked what they need, they told her “everything”. When asked what type of work they are seeking, they said, “anything”. It’s a striking contrast to the first world.
How she can get through all those visits without just sobbing hysterically, I will never… More »

Clearly Angelina Jolie has not been sitting around her home in Berlin, wondering about how Changeling will do at the box office. That’s because she was too busy for idle thought – Angelina just wrapped up a two-day visit to Afghanistan. I had no idea she had even been planning on going, and that’s a good thing because it means the trip was kept very quiet, which is much better for her safety.

I debated about whether or not to even bother writing about this because, on the one hand, who cares? However, on the other hand, several readers have emailed me to ask me to post about it so we can talk about it. So here you go.
Roseanne Barr posted a blog entry of her own, where she ripped apart Jon Voight, then went on to tear down Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. One classy gem is this:

June 20th is World Refugee Day where organizations such as the UNHCR attempt to raise awareness of the plight of millions of refugees all around the world. As their goodwill ambassador, Angelina Jolie recorded a PSA.
This topic is very close to my heart. Those of you who have been reading PittWatch for awhile may recall that last year in July I took part in an international Blogathon where I used my personal blog to post every… More »
Angelina Jolie has been busy since arriving in Iraq. She’s been in long meetings to discuss the plight of Iraqi refugees who have been displaced both within their own country and abroad, and is pushing for more international aid to help them during this crisis. In between meetings, she also boosted morale by visiting with some of the American troops in the Green Zone, eating lunch with them.
There are several great photos of Angelina in her meetings,… More »
I was able to find some video footage of Angelina Jolie in Iraq.
While she was there, she dropped by the heavily guarded Green Zone in Baghdad where she had lunch with some American soldiers.
She spent the day in meetings to discuss and appeal for more international aid to be provided for the millions of Iraqi refugees, displaced both within Iraq and in other countries.
You can also see the interview CNN did with Angelina Jolie during her visit, discussing what her… More »
It seems that the story about going to Jordan was a cover for the sake of privacy and security. It turns out that Angelina Jolie is back in Iraq to draw attention to the refugee crisis there. She is trying to push the humanitarian efforts which aren’t doing enough to help the two million displaced individuals in the country. She said:
“There doesn’t seem to be a real coherent plan to help them,” said Jolie, speaking in an… More »

Angelina Jolie does her part as UNHCR goodwill ambassador, visiting refugees in Iraq. She visited the Al Waleed camp, a makeshift refugee shelter that is being used by about 1300 people who are unable to leave Iraq to escape to Syria across the border.
According to the Huffington Post, Angelina flew without staff via commercial flight, just as she did when she went to Darfur, taking only Mickey with her for security. I’m sure that the UN has its… More »
Currently in Iraq, Angelina Jolie was able to visit some U.S. troops. Angie was photographed with Lance Corporal Samuel Petersen, a 22-year-old from Denver, in the Marine Corps.
According to OK magazine, while Angie is in Iraq, her assistant Holly is taking care of the kids whenever Brad is attending meetings for Burn After Reading.
Apparently none of the children know precisely where Angie is right now, just that she will be back in a few days.

On this Friday afternoon, I’m going to break from the norm and get a little personal mixed with a bit of activism.
As you all know, I’ve been writing this blog for awhile now. I also write my own personal blog titled Chaos Theory. Over there I write about family life for the most part with a little of this and a little of that thrown in.

Every Google Alert that I have set up for Angelina Jolie news has linked to articles where Angie mentions that she was once very nearly kidnapped. She wouldn’t mention when it was or which country, but said this:
“It was in a small village. I won’t say where, or with whom, but some gangsters planned to kidnap me and extort a massive ransom. I was warned at the last minute, and managed to escape, luckily.”
She insists that the incident won’t… More »

USA Today has a great article up comparing Angelina Jolie and Mia Farrow. It’s a perfect example of what great women they both are and it’s very inspiring.
The article shows that both women have famous roots starting with their parents, both have been awarded for their acting work, and both have had in-the-spotlight relationships. However, the biggest common thread is their work for third world countries and their desire to adopt children from impoverished areas of the world…. More »
