Monsters of Folk Played United Palace and Beacon Theatre
Monsters of Folk, the supergroup made up of M. Ward, Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes), and Jim James (My Morning Jacket), played two New York-area shows this weekend: Friday at United Palace and Sunday at the Beacon Theatre. I was lucky enough to go to the Friday show.

Bob Dylan Playing 3 NYC Shows

The one and only Bob Dylan is playing three New York shows. He will be on tour in October and November and will stop at United Palace on November 17, 18, and 19. Tickets are on presale now (password is smithers. Thx brooklynvegan) and go on regular sale on Friday. All tour dates are below.

Monsters of Folk is a folk supergroup comprised of Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James and singer/songwriter M.Ward. The group has a self-titled debut album coming out on September 22. A track from the album is available for free on their website and it’s called “Say Please.” To get it go to the site and type “please” into the request form.

Sonic Youth’s new album The Eternal comes out tomorrow (Tuesday, June 9) and to celebrate they are playing a free show tomorrow at 9 pm (doors at 7:30 pm) at the Apple Store in Soho (103 Prince St.). Andrew Bird will be back in town to play Carnegie Hall which is pretty damn awesome. He’ll be there with Dosh on January 28 and tickets are on sale now.
Devotchka will also be in NYC in January, on the 24th to be precise, at Webster Hall. Those tickets are on sale tomorrow (Friday) at noon.

Beck Adds Third Show, MGMT Playing in October
Beck has added a third night at United Palace on October 8. Tickets are on sale now with the password “youthless”. No word on whether MGMT will be opening for him again, as they are on the previous two nights.
MGMT also have their own shows coming up at Webster Hall on October 30 and at Music Hall of Williamsburg on October 31. Tickets for those go on sale tomorrow (Friday) at noon…. More »
