Of the many reaction videos to “Shit Girls Say,” my favorite might have to be Franchesca Leigh‘s “Shit White Girls Say… to Black Girls”: Not only is it eerily spot-on, but it also challenges the kinda-racist “Shit Black Girls Say” that came before. More »
I don’t really know much about the people who made this video other than the fact that they call themselves Booya Pictures, but really, there’s not a whole lot you need to know about this video to enjoy it. It’s a grandma reading some choice Tweets from Snooki. And it is quite possibly the GREATEST THING EVER. More »
I don’t watch Real Housewives. I don’t watch any of them. But you know what I WOULD watch? The Real Housewives of South Boston. Because this video right here is HILARIOUS. More »

I’ll confess that I never really listened to Aaliyah much; of course her death at a young age was horribly, horribly tragic, but I just was never really much of an R&B person. I’m not now, and I certainly wasn’t when I was deep in the middle of my awkward high school years. But maybe– MAYBE– I would have listened to Aaliyah more if I had known that her lyrical content was this interesting. More »
There is one thing I remember vividly from the early days of X-Men movies. It was a sound byte from John Stamos, who was at the time married to Rebecca Romijn, and it was with regard to Rebecca’s crazy blue Mystique makeup. I’m paraphrasing a bit here– it’s been years since I read that article and I’m not even entirely sure where I found it anymore– but the quote went a little something like this: “You have NO IDEA the places where I keep finding blue makeup on her after she comes home from work.” That quote alone was enough to make me never want to play a character in any kind of film, television, or theatrical pursuit that required heavy makeup or prosthetics EVER IN MY LIFE. Funny, then, that ten years later, another sound byte involving a totally different actress, but still involving the same character would drive that point home as if it had never been made before. Want to see what Jennifer Lawrence had to go through in the makeup chair in order to become Mystique in this summer’s X-Men: First Class? Check this out: More »
When I was little, I totally wanted to go into space. Not that I was that kid who wanted to be an astronaut, but I love crazy stories about the stars and planets. Like this video, which imagines what it would be like if every other planet revolved around Earth. At first it’s just amusing to see Mars or a second Earth in our night sky (like in the indie movie, Another Earth), but once Jupiter fills the space, things get seriously trippy. More »
IT’S SO TRUE. And I didn’t even realize it– until this video. I am now enlightened. You should join the enlightened ranks. Not only will you be a better person for it, but even more importantly, Saturday morning is a great time to rediscover your hidden ’80s/vampire/the Coreys/Keifer Sutherland/Jason Patric nostalgia. Don’t have time to sit through all of Inception? Try this 60-second version instead! Virgin Radio 95.3 in Vancouver recently held a “Fake Film Festival” in which they invited listeners to submit fan-made versions of well-known films. The results are pretty hilarious in general, but this minute-long Inception takes the cake. Highlights include the slow-motion van sequence, the infamous Joseph Gordon-Levitt hallway fight, and the genius casting of Cobb’s kids. Check out what went on behind the scenes at the group’s deviantART page, and catch the rest of the fake film entries here. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRWWWWWWWWW!
(That was the Inception noise. Just in case that wasn’t clear.) More »

There’s an amateur fitness series on YouTube called EVERYMANHYBRID that isn’t really much of a fitness series. Created by the titular “EverymanHYBRID” (whatever that means) Vincent, “Nutritional Correspondent” Evan, and cameraman Jeff, it likes to call itself “your go-to guide for health on a budget.” But there’s something hiding behind this series– and you may not like what you find. About a month ago, it came out that Marvel Comics was tossing around the idea of producing a series of short films centered around a handful of its less-familiar characters. And hey, guess what? They’ve already made a couple of them! It turns out that these one-shots are less about spotlighting obscure characters and more about filling in some of the gaps of the upcoming epic The Avengers. The two shorts that have already been shot featured S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson (Gregg Clark), who you may recall popping up occasionally in other recent Marvel films like Iron Man (he’s the guy who attempts to debrief Tony Stark on Stark’s escape from Afghanistan) and Thor (here, he commandeers Thor’s hammer and then helps himself to Jane Foster’s research). Here’s a clip from the first one, which will appear in full on the DVD/Blu-ray release of Thor in September: More »

Shortly after the release of X-Men: First Class, YouTube user TheWarpZone wrote an absolutely hilarious X-Men themed parody of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” He also issued a challenge: If the video of him just playing the song on an acoustic guitar in his room got enough views, he’d make a full video for the song. Lo and behold, he has apparently received sufficient viewing figures, because earlier in the week, this glorious piece of work emerged. I don’t know about you guys, but there’s something about a supremely awkward Magneto holding an electric guitar (did you notice that it floated up to him via his amazing magnetic powers?) and surrounded by dancing girls that really does it for me. There’s a lot of in-jokes for fans here, too; a variety of X-Men make appearances, and it’s kind of fun to play Spot-the-Mutant. I found Juggernaut, Gambit, Jubilee, Wolverine, Banshee, Cyclops, Emma Frost, Pyro, Professor X, Mystique, and Jean Grey; did you catch anyone I missed, readers? More »
Back at the beginning of June, The Hobbit finished up its first block of shooting, and in honor of the occasion, Peter Jackson has just posted his second video blog chronicling the production process. Interesting things to note here include the crew’s commemorative jackets (“54 days down, 200 to go!”), the fact that Andy Serkis is the second unit director as well as Gollum, and what the cast and crew are planning on doing during their break. The next block of shooting begins on September 5, and since it’s going to involve a whole lot of location shooting, a good chunk of the blog gives an inside look about what goes into location scouting. Sometimes this means watching Peter Jackson juggle a cup of tea miraculously without spilling it as he goes trooping through the mountains. It’s pretty amusing. There’s also a few more images of Martin Freeman (who will presumably be using his break to shoot the next season of Sherlock) and Hugo Weaving as Bilbo and Elrond. Check it out after the jump! Gryffindors are brave; Slytherins are ambitious; Ravenclaws are smart; and Hufflepuffs are… Wait, does anyone actually know what Hufflepuffs are? Is Hufflepuff just some sort of repository House for the kids Hogwarts doesn’t know quite what to do with? The questions need answering! The public has a right to know!
